'Big Bang Theory' star Kate Micucci recalls freaky encounter with ghost at murder house: 'I tapped into something' (original) (raw)
It's good for actors to have a deep sense of empathy, but not if the feelings you're channeling are coming from the other side.
On a recent episode of Rachel Dratch's Woo Woo podcast, The Big Bang Theory's Kate Micucci recounted a chilling encounter with the spirit of a murdered artist at a Los Angeles open house. "As I'm walking around, I could really sense, I think we all can like sense who lived there [before], that's sort of easy to do," Micucci shared, eventually saying aloud, "'Oh yeah, I feel like whoever lived here was a really creative person.' The realtor said, 'Yeah, he was an artist and he was a teacher. I said, 'Oh cool, cool.' Then I'm walking around some more and I said, 'Oh, he died here.' And the realtor's like, 'Yeah.' And I said, 'Wait, he was murdered here.'"
Micucci continued that she "saw the realtor's face and the realtor goes, 'Your husband didn't want me to tell you.' And I was like, 'Well, geez, this is kind of a big thing, you know, it's a thing to know.'"

The comedian and star of The Little Hours and Steven Universe told Dratch that has "definitely tapped into some kind of psychic ability" in her life, and "often." That ability was on full display the day of the open house encounter. When she first saw the house, she said she thought, "'Yes, this is what I've been looking for.'"

But after correctly sensing not just the presence of the previous owner but discerning his grisly fate, she had to dig further. "I end up in the garage, and I'm by myself. I just start talking to the man," she said. "I don't know who he is, I don't even know what came over me, because this isn't quite something I would normally do."
"I just said, 'I'm very sorry that this happened to you, and I feel like you took such good care of this house, and I can really tell that you loved it. This house was loved. I'm just very sorry,'" she recalled. "As I'm talking, I feel a sharp pain through my stomach, and not like a stomach ache. Like it is not a stomach ache. It's just a sharp, sharp pain. And it shakes me in such a way that I walk out of the garage and I meet up with Ali and the realtor. I say, 'Whoa, I just had something happen. I felt a sharp pain through my stomach,' and the realtor said, 'He was shot in the stomach in the garage.'"
Micucci joked that "at that moment, Ali literally just races to the car. Like, 'Thank you so much!'" The comedian and her partner "didn't end up buying that house," but she feels "sure someone is happy there. I will say too, the house didn't have bad vibes. I think I tapped into something."

Micucci is a born survivor, having announced just last December that after undergoing surgery for lung cancer, she is officially cancer free. While best known for playing Kunal Nayyar's paramour for three seasons of The Big Bang Theory, Micucci currently contributes her uniquely quirky voice to three animated series: Monster High; Angry Birds: Mystery Island; and Mickey Mouse Funhouse.
