Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong loses it as bandmates surprise him on stage dressed as Deadpool and Wolverine

Armstrong could barely get through the song he was singing — "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" — because he was laughing too hard at the stunt.

Billie Joe Armstrong certainly had the time of his life onstage during Green Day’s Saviors tour in New York City Monday night.

During a performance of the band's hit "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" off their 1997 album Nimrod, Armstrong was caught seemingly unaware when drummer Tré Cool and bassist Mike Dirnt joined him on stage dressed as the Marvel characters Deadpool and Wolverine.

In a TikTok video shared to the band's official account, Armstrong can be seen laughing so hard that he can hardly finish the song as his costumed bandmates got on stage to mess with him — taking turns touching him and pretending to cup his genitals.

Once the song ended, Cool channeled Deadpool himself, yelling “Baby knife!” — the character’s nickname for his small knife in the Deadpool films — into the microphone.

Dirnt, as Wolverine, then took the opportunity to quote Step Brothers, adding, “It’s okay that mine is not movie quality" — seemingly in reference to his costume.

The little stunt comes as the song "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" has a special role in Deadpool & Wolverine, which hit theaters on July 26. The song plays over the end credits alongside a eulogy-esque montage of behind-the-scenes footage from 20th Century Fox superhero titles.

Deadpool himself, a.k.a. actor Ryan Reynolds, gave a big thumbs-up to Green Day's hilarious homage, sharing the video to his own Instagram on Tuesday, alongside the caption, "I’m crying. I love you, @GreenDay. I can’t feel my life right now. #deadpoolandwolverine"

The song is one of many nostalgic needle drops in the Marvel film. The opening credits sequence, for instance, features Deadpool massacring a ton of TVA agents as he dances along to NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye." A pivotal scene between the two title characters is set to Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You," and a different moment between them involves Grease's "You're the One That I Want."
