Witness the origin of a serial killer.
The first teaser trailer for Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin is here, featuring the return of original star Michael C. Hall as the inner voice of the titular murderer — and it's like no time has passed as he once again delivers the darkly charming narration.

The footage begins with Hall's declaration, "I am a killer," as elevator doors open to reveal the new, younger Dexter, now played by Patrick Gibson (Shadow and Bone), before quickly flashing to reveal all the people in his life that "made" him into the prolific deadly murderer who will become known as the Bay Harbor Butcher.
The teaser introduces his father Harry (Christian Slater, taking over for James Remar), his younger sister Deb (originally portrayed by Jennifer Carpenter, but now played Molly Brown), his new bosses at the Miami Metro Police Department, CSI Chief Tanya Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Captain Aaron Spencer (Patrick Dempsey), young Maria LaGuerta (originally played by Luna Lauren Velez but now portrayed by Christina Milian), young Angel Batista (originally portrayed by David Zayas but now played by James Martinez), and young Vince Masuka (Alex Shimizu, taking over the role from C.S. Lee).

Set in 1991 Miami, 15 years before the original show, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter as his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer. His father, Harry, steps in and helps him adopt the Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve it, keeping his younger sister Deb in the dark. But evading the attention of law enforcement proves to be a challenge as Dexter also begins a forensics internship under CSI Chief Tanya Martin at the Miami Metro Police Department, led by Captain Aaron Spencer.
Dexter originally ran for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013, on Showtime, winning four Emmys along the way. Hall reprised his titular role in 10 episodes of a sequel series, Dexter: New Blood, which aired 2021-2022 and was the most-watched series in Showtime history.
The 10-episode prequel series Dexter: Original Sin is currently in production and will premiere Friday, Dec. 13 on Paramount+ for subscribers with the Showtime plan before making its on-air debut on Sunday, Dec. 15.
