We couldn’t beleaf it — The Flower was cut from _The Masked Singer_on Wednesday night.
Although she rose to the occasion numerous times, putting on one show-stopping performance after another, tonight Flower couldn’t outbloom Flamingo, Leopard, or Rottweiler in the audience’s eyes. Nick Cannon acted as emcee once again, while Joel McHale joined Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ken Jeong on the judges panel.
Flamingo performed first (“Lady Marmalade” by Patti LaBelle), followed by Leopard (“September” by Earth, Wind & Fire), Flower (“Alone” by Heart), and Rottweiler (“Grenade” by Bruno Mars).
The audiences and judges voted for Flamingo’s performance over Leopard’s, and Rottweiler also triumphed against Flower. This sent Leopard and Flower to the smackdown in a bid to stay on the show — and most importantly, stay anonymous. Both contestants killed their covers, with the feline crooner transforming “Don’t Cha” by The Pussycat Dolls (in front of Scherzinger, no less) and the floral songstress nailing “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.
“This will be the hardest vote we’ve ever done on Masked Singer,” McCarthy told the crowd.
Ultimately, Flower was eliminated and revealed to be … Patti LaBelle, the Godmother of Soul. The legendary singer fronted the girl group Labelle and is known for songs like “Lady Marmalade” and “On My Own.”
Following Flower’s elimination, only seven contestants remain: Flamingo, Leopard, Rottweiler, Mr. Fox, Tree, Thingamajig, and Butterfly. Last week, Ladybug was sent home and unmasked as singer and reality star Kelly Osbourne.
