The Sandman is now a Spaceman.

The first full-length trailer for the Netflix drama dropped Tuesday, and features Adam Sandler as Jakub, who, per the official synopsis, is "an astronaut sent to the edge of the galaxy to collect mysterious ancient dust" who "finds his earthly life falling to pieces, and turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together."

In the trailer, below, the voice seems to belong to a giant space spider. "I did not intend to frighten you, skinny human. Do not be afraid," the creature, voiced by a whispery Paul Dano, tells him. Sandler's Jakub rightfully believes he's losing his mind, to which the spider creepily tells him, "You wish to know if I am real? I am like you, an explorer. Your loneliness intrigued me."

The synopsis tells us the creature is "from the beginning of time, lurking in the shadows of his ship."

Apparently, Jakub is lonely and distraught about his marriage to Lenka (Carey Mulligan), which seems to be falling apart, but this ominous space being says it wants to help, telling him, "I might be of help. I wish to assist you in your emotional distress."

Directed by Johan Renck and based on the novel Spaceman of Bohemia by Jaroslav Kalfař, the film also stars Kunal Nayyar as a technician named Peter, and Isabella Rossellini as Jakub’s commanding officer, Commissioner Tuma.

Spaceman is making its world debut at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival before the film arrives on Netflix on March 1.
