Jeremy Renner does his own stunts with his real daughter in Super Bowl ad (original) (raw)
For any fans wondering how Jeremy Renner is doing since his snowplow accident on New Year's Day 2023. Well, he feels good.
At least, that's what he says in a 2024 Super Bowl commercial for Silk. The spot features the bathrobe-clad actor singing James Brown's iconic "I Got You (I Feel Good)" as he dances and roundhouse kicks his way around the kitchen, preparing breakfast for his real-life daughter, Ava.
“It’s her first job ever! [We] put her to work early,” Renner joked to PEOPLE on the commercial's set in January.

While — breaking news — commercials aren't real life, there's an element of real life in Silk's ad. Renner does appear to feel good since his harrowing accident. For the commercial, he performed his own stunts, kicking the cap off a jug, leaping onto the counter, and otherwise shimmying around the kitchen.
"Wow, Dad," Ava says after breakfast is served.
"Just getting back in my routine," Renner replies with a knowing smile. The message is about more than the breakfast on the table.
Renner was a fit for the Silk's first-ever Super Bowl ad because, as PEOPLE reports, he's not just famously a San Francisco 49ers fan; he's a fan of the product. He used the company's almond milk in shakes as he was recovering from the accident that nearly took his life.
On Jan. 1, 2023, a snowplow crushed Renner as he attempted to divert it from hitting his nephew. Afterward, he was airlifted to a hospital and treated for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. He was kept in the hospital for two weeks and later revealed on social media that he had broken more than 30 bones.
Appearing on CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast just over a month ago, he said his recovery has gone well because he's a "pretty stubborn S.O.B."
"I'm just so blessed that I had so many things to live for,” he told Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. “I have a giant family. I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would've disappointed and really messed up a lot of people's lives if I would've passed, and so there's a lot for me to get better for.”
For the commercial, the Hawkeye actor wasn't initially sure he could do the moves. “I don’t know if I can do any physical things [at that point]. They have a stunt guy there ready to do some of this stuff,” Renner told CNN this week. “I already told ‘em, there’s no way I’m doing all this stuff on the counters and jumping up.”
However, when it was time to shoot, Renner gave it a shot. “I did the roundhouse kick, the carton [throw],” he said. “It’s like there’s no way I’m gonna be able to do this. There’s just no way. And then somehow, suddenly I got it. It only took a few takes, but when I actually did do it, I had adrenaline, there was such a whoop from all the people there.”
While Renner did his own stunts, he told CNN his body is "far from back to being a hundred percent." He does, however, feel "mentally and emotionally a thousand percent in my mind."
Or, you know, he "feel[s] good, da na na na na na an."
