Important dispatch from the Weekend Update desk: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler love to tune into Saturday Night Live together.
Fey, a former SNL cast member and head writer, said she and her former Weekend Update co-anchor "love watching it together" in a preview for this weekend's Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist. While on their joint tour, “If it's a Saturday, we go to our room, and we watch SNL from the hotel room," Fey said.
"If we're not together, we'll live text during it," she added, conceding that she can be a bit analytical at times. "It's like someone who played sports, like, ‘Oh, I see. You know what? I bet this moved up from dress.’ And we root for everybody. And the head writer in me is always like, ‘Huh. Interesting. Maybe the game could've been clearer.’"

So much so that her youngest kid would tell her, "Mom, you're ruining everything because you're always talking about how they're doing it, just be in it," she said
Fey, who first joined as a writer in 1997, was a cast member on SNL between 2000 and 2006, and co-anchored Weekend Update with Poehler, who was on the show between 2001 and 2008, from 2004 to 2006. The dynamic duo have since co-hosted the Golden Globes together four times, and have been in the midst of their joint Restless Leg Tour, which concludes next month in New York.
