HBO Max is saying goodbye to the pack.

The streamer confirmed to EW that they have canceled sci-fi drama Raised by Wolves after two seasons.

"While we are not proceeding with a third season of Raised by Wolves, we are beyond grateful to the stellar cast and crew, our creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions, for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans into the world of Kepler-22b," they said in a statement.

Created by Guzikowski, the series premiered in 2020 and follows two androids, Father (Abubakar Salim) and Mother (Amanda Collins), who are tasked with raising human children on the planet of Kepler-22b after the Earth is destroyed by war. But as the colony of humans on the remote planet is on the verge of being torn apart by religious differences, the androids realize the challenge and danger of attempting to control humans' beliefs.

Sci-fi legend Ridley Scott directed the first two episodes and served as an executive producer. Critical acclaim led to a quick season 2 renewal.

"Raised by Wolves reflects an unusual instinct for decent-budget science-fiction: It's impossible to root for anyone," EW critic Darren Franich wrote of the first season. "By the end of episode 2, the 'heroes' are all mass murder-adjacent. They're either motivated by lunatic belief systems, or they lie all the time about everything."

Scott had already expressed an interest in returning to direct for a potential third season, but it seems he'll have to find another project to maintain his still staggering pace behind the camera at 84 years old.
