To celebrate the return of Yellowjackets_,_ Entertainment Weekly will be revealing a new clue — sorry, exclusive — every day this week.

Once upon a time, there was a show called Yellowjackets. In its first two seasons, it told the story of a high school girls soccer team that was stranded in the woods following a plane crash. For 18 months, the teammates fought for their lives, feared for their lives, and sometimes, feared one another. Sorry, let's actually let one (or two) of them to catch you up.

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive clip from the first episode of Yellowjackets' upcoming third season, which sees Teen Van (Liv Hewson) and Teen Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) give their own — very different — accounts of what's happened in the months since their plane crashed on the way to nationals.

As Van starts to tell her teammates in the clip: "Our heroes — no, our sheroes — were robbed of fame and fortune by the cruel hand of fate and by mechanical failure ... or possibly pilot error, unclear. But no mere plane crash could keep our intrepid girls, and a few dudes, down. No, they rose to this new challenge like the champions they were always meant to be."

Meanwhile, Shauna is off on her own, writing her own version of their story in her diary: "God I f---ing hate them. Like sorry I'm not psyched to hear some bulls--- story about our adventures in the woods. My best friend is dead. My baby is dead. I held his body when it was covered in my blood and then I had to put his corpse out in the cold while everyone else talked about f---ing sacrifices and miracles."

As Van does in fact mention sacrifices and miracles — and a "homicidal monster" named Ben (Steven Krueger) — Shauna continues, her rage growing with each sentence: "Once upon a time a bunch of teenage girls got stranded in the wilderness and they went completely f---ing nuts. They worshipped evil spirits and they hunted their friends and they feasted on their flesh and they f---ing liked it. So they told themselves stupid fairytales and pretended they were brave and strong because the reality was that even if rescue came, they could never go home again because of what they'd done, because of what they'd become."

Meanwhile, Van's story does provide some necessary context as to how the teens went from watching their shelter burn down in the snow to where they are now, thriving in the spring under their "unlikely new leader" Natalie (Sophie Thatcher).
