15 killed in Cape Town and Stellenbosch weekend shootings (original) (raw)

Fifteen people were killed in separate shootings in the Western Cape this weekend.

Police are investigating a spate of gun attacks in Kayamandi in Stellenbosch, where seven people died on Friday.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in connection with deadly shootings in Cape Town.

Police are yet to determine the motive for separate shootings in Cape Town this weekend.

Eight people, including a 13-year-old child, died in attacks in Khayelitsha, Mitchells Plain and Elsies River.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said:

"The 13-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment."

In Stellenbosch, three armed assassins killed a 46-year-old man as he was arriving home from work. Serious and violent crime detectives have been assigned to the case.
