Unbiased Paraphrased to reflect her answer, NOT HER STYLE.

Don't not read this as an interpretation of her personality.

1. GIBSON: The central question. Can you say, I have the experience, to be president of the United States of America?

PALIN: I do, we’ll be ready. I’m ready.

2.GIBSON: When McCain asked you to take the spot on the ticket, for a moment, did you think no?

PALIN: I did not. I thought yes, right off the bat. the first thing I said to him was, if you really think that I can help the ticket, help this country, absolutely, I want to do this with you.

Short answer: She did not think.

3.GIBSON: And you didn’t say to yourself, am I experienced enough? Am I ready?

PALIN: I didn’t hesitate, no.

4.GIBSON: Doesn’t that take some hubris?

PALIN: I answered him yes because I am confident in my readiness. You can’t blink. You have to be committed to the mission, reforming this country, and victory in the war. That you can’t blink. So, I didn’t blink.

5.GIBSON: This is not just reforming a government. Its running a government on the huge international stage, in a very dangerous world. John McCain cited your command of the Alaskan National Guard and that Alaska is close to Russia as evidence of your national security credential

PALIN: But it is about reform of government. And it’s about putting government back on the side of the people. And that has much to do with foreign policy and national security issues.

Umm, What ??? Foreign Policy is about reforming American government ?

The credential I bring to this table, Charlie is that I’ve been working on energy independence for years, As both Governor Alaska and as chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conversation Commission to produce more Oil & Gas.

GIBSON: National security is a whole lot more than energy.

PALIN: It is. But - but I want you to not lose sight of the fact that energy is a foundation of national security. It’s that important. It’s that significant.

Read this as: foundation of national security involves maintaining a supply of energy.

Energy equals oil and gas

GIBSON: Did you ever travel outside the country prior to your trip to Kuwait and Germany last year?

PALIN: Canada. Mexico. And then, that trip that was a trip of a lifetime, to visit troops in Kuwait and stop and visit injured soldiers in Germany. That was a trip of a lifetime. And it changed my life.

Do Canada, and Mexico really count as foreign countries?

GIBSON: Have you ever met a foreign head of state?

PALIN: I have not. As many vice presidents have not. The desire is in this nation is no more politics as usual. And somebody’s big, fat resume maybe that shows decades and decades in that Washington establishment, where, yeah, they’ve had opportunity to meet heads of state.

Ahh now I understand the answer to the experience question: Experience, understanding of whats going on, having facts, understanding the culture of foreign nations are all a bad thing. If you actually have gone outside north America and talked to foreign heads of states.

IT MEAN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

GIBSON: Let me ask you about some specific national security situations.

PALIN: Sure.

GIBSON: Let’s start with Russia and Georgia. The administration has said, we’ve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?

PALIN: First off, we’re going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak the other day and giving my commitment, as John McCain’s running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And we have to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have asserted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable. And we have to keep …

Did she say that she talked to a foreign head of state?

GIBSON: You believe unprovoked?

PALIN: I do believe unprovoked. And we have to keep our eyes on Russia. Under the leadership there.

Sorry I have not researched whether it was provoked.

But a quick scan of seems to indicate that it was.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.

Didn't answer the question. Unless you interpret 'insight' as being able to physically see some thing.

GIBSON: You favor putting Georgia and Ukraine into NATO?

PALIN: Ukraine definitely yes. Yes. And Georgia. Putin thinks otherwise, obviously he thinks otherwise.

A straight answer as to her opinion

GIBSON: Under the NATO treaty, would we have to go to war if Russia invaded Georgia?

PALIN: Maybe. That is the agreement. If a NATO country is attacked, you are expected to help.

GIBSON: Do you consider a nuclear Iran to be a threat to Israel?

PALIN: In The hands of Ahmadinejad, nuclear weapons are extremely dangerous to everyone on this globe, yes.

GIBSON: So, what should we do about a nuclear Iran?

PALIN: Make sure weapons of mass destruction, nuclear weapons are not given t Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them. So we have got to put the pressure on Iran.

GIBSON: What if Israel decided it felt threatened and need to take out the Iranian nuclear facilities?

PALIN: Well, first, we are friends of Israel, and I don’t think that we should second guess the measures that Israel has to take to defend themselves, and for their security.

Does that mean if you are our friend you can do what they want

GIBSON: So if we didn’t second guess it and if they decided they needed to do it, because Iran was an existential threat, we would be cooperative or agree with that?

PALIN: I don’t think we can second guess what Israel has to do to secure its nation.

GIBSON: So if it felt necessary, if it felt the need to defend itself by taking out Iranian nuclear facilities, that would be all right?

PALIN: We cannot second guess the steps that Israel has to take to defend itself.

What does she mean by 'second-guess' Does that mean it is ok?

We can have no opinion. Or that we should not interfere?

To criticize or correct after an outcome is known. To outguess. To predict or anticipate To criticize a decision after its outcome is known.

GIBSON: Why did 9/11 happen? Why did they want to hurt us?

PALIN: A very small percentage of Islamic believers are extreme, violent, and they do not believe in American ideals. And they attacked us. And now we are at a point, here, seven years later, on the anniversary, in this post- 9/11 world, where we are able to commit to never again. The only option for them is to become a suicide bomber, to get caught up in this evil, in this terror. They need to be provided the hope that all Americans have, instilled in us, because we’re a democratic and we are a free, we’re a free-thinking society.

Answer: They do not believe in American ideals.

The rest of the answer is interesting. Why is that their only option ?

GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?

PALIN: In what respect, Charlie?

GIBSON: The Bush — well, what do you interpret it to be?

PALIN: His world view?

GIBSON: No, the Bush doctrine, annunciated September 2002, before the Iraq War.

PALIN: I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell-bent on destroying our nation. There have been blunders along the way, though. There have been mistakes made, and with new leadership, and that’s the beauty of American elections, of course, and democracy, is with new leadership comes opportunity to do things better.

GIBSON: The Bush doctrine as I understand it is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a preemptive strike against any country that we think is going to attack us. Do you agree with us?

PALIN: Charlie, if there is legitimate and enough intelligent and legitimate evidence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country.

A lot has been made about this answer so I left it as if. Figure it out for your self.

What I hear her say is that yes we can invade preemptively if she thinks it is right.

It opens up many more questions, in light of the 'evidence' used to invade Iraq, Who vets the information

GIBSON: Can we make cross-border attacks into Pakistan,without the approval of the Pakistani government?

PALIN: As for our right to invade, we’re going to work with these countries, building new relationships, working with existing allies, but forging new also, in order to, Charlie, get to a point in this world, where war is not going to be a first option. In fact, war has got to be and military strike a last option.

Does not in any way answer the question. It sound admirable

In the light of her previous responses, the short answer is yes.

GIBSON: But governor, I am asking you, do we have the right, in your mind, to go across the border, with or without the approval of the Pakistani government?

PALIN: We must do whatever it takes, and we must not blink. In making those tough decisions of where we go, and even who we target.

Now this is one that truly scares me. She used the phrase about not blinking, to answer how much thought she put into whether or not she should be VP and that answer was No thought I just knew I should do it because J McCain Said I would be of help.

PALIN:America has to exercise all options in order to stop the terrorists, we have got to have all options out there on the table.

GIBSON: You said recently in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.”

PALIN (on video tape): Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right, (pray) also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God.

GIBSON: Are we fighting a Holy War?

PALIN: That’s a repeat of Abraham Lincoln’s words, when he said, first he suggested, never presume to know what God’s will is, and I would never presume to know God’s will or to speak god’s words, but what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that’s a repeat in my comments, was, let us not pray that God is on our side, in a war, or any other time. But let us pray that we are on God’s side. That’s what that comment was all about, Charlie.

Today is the day that I send my first born, my son, my teenage son, oversees with his Stryker brigade. Four thousand other wonderful American men and women to fight for our country, to fight for our freedoms.

GIBSON: But you went on and said, “There is a plan, and it is God’s plan.”

PALIN: I believe that there is a plan for this world, and that plan, for this world, is for good. I believe that there is great hope and great potential for every country, to be able to live and be protected within inalienable rights, that I believe are God-given, Charlie. And I believe those are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

That in my world view is the grand plan.

GIBSON: Then, are you sending your son on a task from God?

PALIN: I don’t know if the task is from God, Charlie. What I know is that my son has made a decision. I am so proud of his independent and strong decision. What he decided to do, in serving for the right reasons in serving something greater than self, and not choosing a real easy path, where he could be more comfortable and certainly safer

In the interest of fairness it must be said that I do have a personal opinion as to whom I would like to see lead this Nation in to the new century.

Currently 68 million acres of federal land and offshore sites now leased by oil companies sit idle has potential reserves to nearly double U.S. oil production and increase natural gas output by 75 percent.

can someone explain this statement to me ?
"The McCain administration would reserve all savings from victory in the Iraq and Afghanistan
operations in the fight against Islamic extremists for reducing the deficit. Since all their costs were
financed with deficit spending, all their savings must go to deficit reduction."

My question is this: Savings is defined as "

The total accumulated amount of 'money' that is not spent on consumption." and the money came from deficit spending, how can one save what we dont have ?

Protect Social Security
Obama is committed to ensuring Social Security is solvent and viable for the American people, now and in
the future. Obama will be honest with the American people about the long-term solvency of Social Security
and the ways we can address the shortfall. Obama will protect Social Security benefits for current and
future beneficiaries alike. And he does not believe it is necessary or fair to hardworking seniors to raise the
retirement age. Obama is strongly opposed to privatizing Social Security.

Obama believes that the first place to look for ways to strengthen Social Security is the payroll tax system.
Currently, the Social Security payroll tax applies to only the first $97,500 a worker makes. Obama supports
increasing the maximum amount of earnings covered by Social Security and he will work with Congress and the American people to choose a payroll tax reform package that will keep Social Security solvent for at least the next half century.

Strengthen Retirement Savings
Reform Corporate Bankruptcy Laws to Protect Workers and Retirees: Current bankruptcy laws protect
banks before workers. Obama will protect pensions by putting promises to workers higher on the list of
debts that companies cannot shed; ensuring that the bankruptcy courts do not demand more sacrifice from workers than executives; telling companies that they cannot issue executive bonuses while cutting worker pensions; increasing the amount of unpaid wages and benefits workers can claim in court; and limiting the circumstances under which retiree benefits can be reduced. Require Full Disclosure of Company Pension Investments Obama will ensure that all employees who have company pensions receive detailed annual disclosures about their pension fund’s investments. Create Automatic Workplace Pensions
Obama’s retirement security plan will automatically enroll workers in a workplace pension plan. Under his
plan, employers who do not currently offer a retirement plan, will be required to enroll their employees in
a direct-deposit IRA account that is compatible to existing direct-deposit payroll systems. Employees may
opt-out if they choose. Experts estimate that this program will increase the savings participation rate for low
and middle-income workers from its current 15 percent level to around 80 percent.

Sen. Obama believes that responsible candidates must put forward specific ideas of how they would pay for their proposals. That is why he would repeal a portion of the tax cuts passed in the last eight years for families making over $250,000. But to be clear: He would leave their tax rates at or below where they were in the 1990s.

- The top two income-tax brackets would return to their 1990s levels of 36% and 39.6% (including the exemption and deduction phase-outs). All other brackets would remain as they are today.

- The top capital-gains rate for families making more than $250,000 would return to 20% -- the lowest rate that existed in the 1990s and the rate President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut. A 20% rate is almost a third lower than the rate President Reagan set in 1986.

- The tax rate on dividends would also be 20% for families making more than $250,000, rather than returning to the ordinary income rate. This rate would be 39% lower than the rate President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut and would be lower than all but five of the last 92 years we have been taxing dividends.

- The estate tax would be effectively repealed for 99.7% of estates, and retained at a 45% rate for estates valued at over $7 million per couple. This would cut the number of estates covered by the tax by 84% relative to 2000.

Overall, in an Obama administration, the top 1% of households -- people with an average income of $1.6 million per year -- would see their average federal income and payroll tax rate increase from 21% today to 24%, less than the 25% these households would have paid under the tax laws of the late 1990s.

Sen. Obama believes that one of the principal problems facing the economy today is the lack of discretionary income for middle-class wage earners. That's why his plan would not raise any taxes on couples making less than 250,000ayear,noronanysinglepersonwithincomeunder250,000 a year, nor on any single person with income under 250,000ayear,noronanysinglepersonwithincomeunder200,000 -- not income taxes, capital gains taxes, dividend or payroll taxes.

I posted this as a comment on another blog:

I think that everyone here is missing the point. HER DAUGHTER SHOULD NOT BE USED AS AN EXCUSE. PERIOD.

However, by choosing her, McCain's showed a lack of judgment.

1. She spoke at a libertarian (?) convention
2. She he put forth, or supported the secession of Alaska
3. She has at least one possible scandal, with another 2 in the works.
4 Supported the 'bridge to nowhere as 'Pork' then reversed her position (Can you say 'Flip-Flop')and when all was said and done took the money anyway.
5. How does her record match McCain's statement that the only requirement for a VP be '........ready, on day one, to take over as president.'
6. Her total lack of National experience.
7 Her absolutely lack of forgiven policy exposure.
8. She has never governed more then 670,000 people. Less then the population of the top 15 U.S. Cities
9. She has been in that position for less then a 2 years

If Palin refuses to take a look at her stance on teen age pregnancy prevention Vis-a-vis(sp.?) her Daughter pergnancy it will indicate, (not prove), a possible inability to judge issues based on fact rather then religious beliefs.

Use Palin's experience to judge her fitness (Damn I did not want to use that word) for office.

She accused Ruedrich, one of her fellow commissioners, of doing work for the party on public time and working closely with a company he was supposed to be regulating. Ruedrich and Renkes both resigned and Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.[6][34]

Palin served as one of three directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.," a 527 group that was designed to serve as a political boot camp for Republican women in Alaska.[39] Stevens was indicted by a federal grand jury on seven counts. Stevens is specifically charged with violating provisions of the Ethics in Government Act.

Palin also publicly challenged Senator Ted Stevens to come clean about investagation, yet shortly before his indictment, she held news conference "to make clear she had not abandoned (Stevens) politically."[39]

She helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits.[44]

However her postion on climate change states, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made."[53]

In response to high oil and gas prices, and the resulting state government budget surplus, she proposed to send Alaskans $1,200 directly, paid for from the windfall surplus the state is getting because of the high oil prices.[65]

Palin objected to listing polar bear as endangered amid fears that it would hurt oil and gas development in the bears' habitat off Alaska's northern and northwestern coasts. She said the move to list the bears was premature and was not the appropriate management tool for their welfare.[66]

Palin signed into law a $6.6 billion operating budget—the largest in Alaska's history.[69]
She then used her veto power to make the second-largest cuts of the construction budget in state history.

So if America tapped the Oil in Anwr, all the oil, it would be about 350 MMBbs a year(avg)
America imports 4600 MMBbs a year. Now check my math but that about 7% of what we use
If the oil companies gave us that oil for free, it would mean that 3.95/gallongaswoulddropto3.95/gallon gas would drop to 3.95/gallongaswoulddropto3.65/gallon.

In talking about relief from having to pay royalties on the Gas & Oil from off shore drilling that are designed to encourage more exploration.............

The DWRRA apparently has helped stimulate interest in developing deep-water leases............Of the 7,800 active oil and gas leases in the Gulf, 54 percent are in deep water...........However, MMS has acknowledged that relatively few of the deep-water leases sold in the initial DWRRA sale have been tested. Of the 3,200 deep-water leases issued from 1996 to 2000, only 6.5 percent of them have been drilled.

Yet they want more areas to be opened.....for what????
Why are they not drilling what has already been leased?

1. I have been a tireless warrior against wasteful spending, and one of the few leaders who has the guts to challenge abusive Congressional earmarks and the pork barrel politics that grip Washington. I understand that, fundamentally, wasteful spending is an issue of ethics.

2. As President,I will shine the disinfecting light of public scrutiny on those who abuse the public purse, use the power of the presidency to restore fiscal responsibility, and exercise the veto pen to enforce it.

3. I have fought the good fight against the practices that alienate the public from their elected leaders. I have fought for public disclosure of those who lobby lawmakers for a living, and to prohibit them from providing gifts to elected officials. Fought for greater transparency regarding the official activities of lobbyists, disclosure of those who arrange for lawmakers' travel, and require members to pay full charter rates when using corporate aircraft.

4. I have fought the "revolving door" by which lawmakers and other influential officials leave their posts and become lobbyists for the special interests they have aided. As well as fought for an independent ethics office in Congress to help restore the public's faith in the integrity of the legislative branch.

5. Since campaigns require money to communicate to voters, you can never take money completely out of politics, nor should we. We have a right to financially support the candidates and the parties they choose.

I have fought to enforce prohibitions on corporate and union contributions, for sensible donation limits, disclosure of how campaigns are funded, and the diligent enforcement of these common sense rules that promote maximum public participation in the political process and limit opportunities for corruption.
