The authors firstly explicate data on the increase in number of incarcerated women in Serbia in the last decades, and clarify the results of the research related to the effects of such penal policy. The second part of the paper contains information obtained on the account of the opportunity to communicate with a female ex-inmate of the Penal Correctional Institution in Požarevac, Serbia. After a thorough documentary analysis of her case records, a series of semi-structured interviews with the former inmate were performed 'face to face', allowing her to put across a traumatic experience of her stay in the penal facility. This account was carefully and accurately noted down and later subjected to content analysis, in order to determine both cognizant and subliminal messages of the interviewee. The authors made an effort to avoid the mistake of generalization, and tried not to make wide-ranging conclusions regarding the existing penal system based on the experiences of one (though atypical) incarcerated person. However, and taking into account the conclusions of other researchers arrived at in other parts of the world, it may be inferred that a penal system which easily resorts to imprisonment as a form of punishment, hardly can achieve the goals put before it by the society. It is obvious that, instead of their re-socialization, a tough penal system imposes passive submission on the convicted individuals, and pushes them toward hypocrisy, paranoid attitudes and mortification of identity. For this reason, one should not be puzzled by the high rates of penitentiary recidivism in contemporary societies.

This type of intervention has recently been recognised in Serbia as an important factor in the protection against domestic violence. Nevertheless, its use has remained sporadic and in order to be able to understand reasons for this, we have found helpful an analysis of the social context, but also the views of experts and the general public regarding domestic violence in our country. The public and experts alike have a firm position in terms of treating domestic violence perpetrators: batterers are almost as a rule male. The research question as the focal point of further analysis was the following: Whether or in which way such a discourse affects the work of practitioners and personal development of the clients - participants in group therapy? Thanks to this, today, we have at our disposal a significant body of scientific knowledge, legislative solutions, and practical policies that focus on preventing and protecting victims of violence. However, we do not notice some among the victims of domestic violence. Hereof, our knowledge about the etiology and phenomenology of violence against men is insufficient. Our study represents a small step forward in researching the phenomenology of this phenomenon. We aimed to describe characteristics of violence against men through personal stories and from the perspective of both partners. We used documentary material in the analysis - official records of centers for social work in the territory of the city of Belgrade. Analysis showed that violence against men in a partner relationship is most often recognized by the center's professional workers as mutual. The prosecut...

As regards the Republic of Serbia, research efforts and practical policies are more recent, even though the demographers found that our population is among the oldest on the European continent. If we add to this the fact that the elderly in our country are particularly vulnerable population -marginalized on several grounds, it is clear why this issue has to be relevant in scientific as well in the practical terms. In this article, we explored involvement of the elderly in the activities of active aging and the availability of, and reliance on the (non)institutional forms of support for this particular form of personal lifestyle. In the analysis, we used two approaches. Firstly, we conducted desk analysis, in order to describe the systemic policies and practices that support ac...

The ruling official discourse on drugs can be subsumed under the definition of moral panic, in creation of which, as well in dissemination, the media play an important role. Media uses specific vocabulary to send message warning of an impending social catastrophe. This tactic is effective: recipients of media content become anxious and frightened by the downfall of the society that awaits them in the near future. So logically they are converting into supporters of official discourses on the topic. In the end, this process has the power to briefly connect a shredded tissue of social cohesion, but also to produce a lack of freedom of citizens. In order to investigate whether drug-related moral panics in our country can have such implications, in this paper we analyzed the official discourse embodied in anti-drug policies, and the public discourse offered by media. Findings suggest that policymakers are calling ...

We approached this question from the perspective of a recently established scientifi c discipline, the Sociology of Marginalized Groups, which faces numerous methodological challenges, arising from its subject of study. Th ese are highly vulnerable groups and individuals whose study requires tailored research techniques and the same type of approach. Being marginalized, as a rule, people who belong to this population do not have a voice. Th erefore, the researcher has the additional responsibility to consider the methodological and ethical pitfalls that he/she may encounter during the research process in the reflexive and self-reflective manner. In particular, consideration must be given to whether, and in what way, political discourse infl uences the research design, collection, analysis and interpretation of results, since marginalized groups are oft en the subject of various abuses. To highlight the fact that politics has an important impact on scientifi c research, as well as having long-term consequences for the population studied, we have critically analyzed two studies by authors Milan Mesić and Dragan Bagić, which address Serb returnees in the Area of Special State Concern (care) in Croatia. Critical analysis confi rmed that the political factor undoubtedly infl uenced the way in which the results were interpreted, the promotion of certain ideas and values (close to political discourse), and fi nally, to the detriment of the research group. In summary, we can conclude that the contamination of scientifi c studies with politics, especially those of the applied type, is to the detriment of both researchers and the population that is the focus of research.

Foreign, and especially domestic scientific research on how these young people reach adulthood and whether they differ from their clinically invisible peers, is extremely rare. Therefore the aim of our analysis was to describe the characteristics of the way young people with the diagnosis of mental disorders grow up. In constructing the conceptual framework of the study we proceeded from the integrativesystemic model of transition. This is a model that respects the so-called, structural, as well as subjective markers of adulthood. The first group consists of objectively visible indicators of the place on the growing-up scale. The second group of indicators relates to the degree of the subjective independence of the young person from his/her parents. Our main research assumption is that along with gaining the structural indicators of growing up, the subjective independence of young people is increasing. The sample included 50 respondents-users of psychiatric services at the Daily Hospital of the Institute of Mental Health in Belgrade. The data were collected via a questionnaire and processed by statistical methods. Findings have shown that the respondents are highly dependent on their parents: in financial, residential, and emotional respects. The transition of these young people to the adulthood is difficult, and what is particularly concerning is that, compared to the younger people, the older respondents in the sample are more dependent on their parents in all analyzed indicators of the place on the growing-up scale. Further research should deal with the causes and consequences of the ongoing and/or discontinued growing-up process of young people diagnosed with mental disorders.

Analysis had two goals. The first, a descriptive goal was to identify and describe 1. patterns of young mother?s expectations and 2. received help from their parents. The second goal was to ascertain the script standing behind expectations and received support. The sample consisted of twelve women - thirty years old mothers. Expectations are based on a script about parenting as a heroic sacrifice and determined by the role of parents. Mothers are the dominant providers of assistance and support. Our quest was grounded on constructivist theoretical paradigm that sees identity as a manner a person defines oneself in accordance with offered social repertoire. In other words, the total institution milieu offers limited range of identities to its residents. On the other hand, the latter are not just passive subjects that identity is imposed upon. They are able to use a number of adjustment mechanisms to the knowledge about themselves - ranging from symbolic escape to open resistance against the imposed image about them; to obedience, and we were interested to understand the (supposed) complex dynamic of identity (re)-building in, so-called, special or forensic patients. In order to understand this process and attempting to discover, besides the manifest also the latent layer of the story about self, the local, or personal, identity understanding was examined.

Use of this home made substance has reached epidemic range since 1990?s in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Our analysis deals with this particular space. That is, considering the modest expert literature regarding the socio-demographic features of consumers, occurrence pervasiveness and its etiology, we have found data from the countries born after the Soviet Russia breakdown, which have obviously been the hardest hit by it. LJUBAV I STRAH U FOKUSU INTERDISCIPLINARNIH ISTRAŽIVANJA, 2021

koja ljubavi pridaju parovi, oblikuju bračnu dinamiku. Konceptualna shema analize je
zasnovana na postulatima sistemske porodične teorije i terapije narativnog usmjerenja
i terapije para. Naime, ključna ideja sistemičara - narativista jeste da dominatne priče,
kreirane (i) na osnovu uvjerenja, rukovode našim životima: načinom na koji percipiramo
sebe i druge.
nedostaje.
