The subject of master degree thesis is forming of model for a strategic choice of construction eq... more The subject of master degree thesis is forming of model for a strategic choice of construction equipment for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation based on works on the road network under jurisdiction of road company AD ’’VOJVODINAPUT – ZRENJANIN’’. Taking into account the arising needs for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works on the road networks of the world and appearance of new technologies regarding pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works, and therefore new construction equipment for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works, this paper deals with forming of model for a strategic choice of construction equipment for reconstruction and rehabilitation works. The modern managers of road companies are faced with problem of strategic decisions for optimal choice of construction equipment for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation to meet preservation of environment and increase profit. As a basis for optimal applying of new technologies and construction equipment for performing pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works the following were used: Public roads Laws in the target market, Regulations for regular maintenance of roads, Regulations for maintenance of roads, Traffic, Roads and Bridge Databases, Methodologies for design of road reconstruction, Technical guidelines for application of new technologies for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works, Optimized programme of pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works for road networks within period of 20 years defined in accordance with expected traffic volume and road condition by using HDM-4 (Highway Design and Management) model, Application of multicriteria expert method AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). As key parameters for forming of a model for strategic choice of construction equipment for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works the following were used: economic (cost/benefit ratio), energetic, еnvironmental protection (protection from pollution, noise etc). Research methods are based on the multiparameters expert analyses of adequate parameters as well as their statistical analyses. For the verification purposes, the results of adequate experimental researches from the available documentations were used. This research showed achieved benefits from the aspect of rational and most efficient investment in new construction equipment as well as optimal application of new technologies for pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation works, compared to the current situation and practice of pavement rehabilitation and construction.

Risk or uncertainty cannot be ignored and should be treated as a constituent of decision-making. The paper aims to emphasize the importance of probability theory by comparing insufficiently applicable methods in practical bidding. The triangular distribution and the PERT method belong to three-point estimate techniques, while payoff matrices represent a multi-criteria approach. Also, selected methods belong to quantitative techniques for risk cost analysis. Still, the risk costs determination of the unit costs and the total costs of bids is often based on an intuitive approach. Therefore, compared results of the triangular distribution, PERT method, and payoff matrix techniques (minimin, minimax, expected monetary value, and expected opportunity loss) indicate the significance of risk costs estimating in tendering. The aim of the paper is to improve availability classifications of components for application in ... more The aim of the paper is to improve availability classifications of components for application in construction systems. Construction production systems belong to project-based systems with serial-parallel structures with or without redundant components, and the availability function has a significant impact on the performance indicators of components and systems. The main indicators of function of the components are the availability, capacity, costs, and project time. A new approach to classification makes it possible to choose the most appropriate methodology for assessing component availability in the bidding phase, and managing company?s machine park. The new classification approach was tested on a practical example. The results obtained confirmed the justification for extending the classical approach to the classification of the availability of components.

On the basis of obtained parameters and depreciation periods, the operational availability of components of construction production systems was determined. The proposed methodology for estimating impact of the availability function is a modified method of the frequency balancing. This paper describes the division of the availability of the components, subsystem and system as ... more This paper describes the division of the availability of the components, subsystem and system as whole of the production system, due to the significant increase in the importance of the availability of an reliability examination of the repairable systems. Availability therefore becomes important criterion in the design of building production systems, particularly those with highly mechanized processes. The divisions are enlarged with modern approach to the assessment of availability and given a draft model for evaluation system´s operational availability. The model was tested using data from the system for producing and placing bitumen bound materials for a longer period of time. Analysis of the data shows the impact on the availability of real practical output, the actual price of the system and the actual price of the system per unit of finished product. Paper has also analyzed the relationship between planned and actual results of the system and their impact on the costs as a basis for the formating the selling price. Results of analyzing output data showed the ease of application in solving practical problems in the field of designing building systems.

Application of the reliability of repairable systems on solving problems from constructing produc... more Application of the reliability of repairable systems on solving problems from constructing
production systems takes an important place in the process of finding the optimal solution
among the suggested system choices. The basic hypothesis when using the reliability of the
repairable systems is that every machine is representing a component, a fact that is debatable
when talking about technical sciences. However, considering the second assumption of the
stationary process, the function of the availability is introduced. It represents the measure
between the reliability and the benefit of maintaining the components and the system as a whole
one. An additional and the last reason for analyzing constructing machine as a whole one has an
economic reason. From the aspect of the total cost and the capacity of the system, the function
of the availability is catching more and more impact in the process of determinating the total
cost in bill of quantities as the most important part of tender documents. Until former works,
techno-economic optimisation usually ran over when choosing the system of the construction
machines. In the work, there are shown the methodologies for gathering and analyzing the
indicators of availabilities per unit of a company's machine park. The time of demission and
reparation have been investigated among 34 components in the period of 6 years. Based on the
obtained result for different conditions of machine exploitation and facilities, it is suggested the
methodology of the future behaviour of the corresponding within the model optimization
availability of constructing production system with the aim of eliminating extra criterion. The
suggested model takes in consideration the total cost of the components when they are
functional, and when they are not. This kind of approach enables the one who take choices
decision of the height of profits, in the lenght of work in function of the projection of cash flow
and managing with real indicators of functioning the system at the project level. Given the fact
that the maintanance policy of machines is based on availability, and not on reliability of
components, with the aim of maximizing the availability of different budget scenarios, a logical
approach to the selection of the objective function in the terms of management of construction
production systems is to minimize costs for a given availability of system constructing
machinery is based on the use of historical data base with the values of the operational
availability of components, conditions in which they function, in the process of forecasting the
project availability for projects that follow. Ranking variant solutions is the result of the
adopted function of the aim as a consequence due to enlargement methods of availability for
serial parallel systems with the associated restrictions. For optimal system availability is taken a
value that belongs to minimal total cost. However, it is predicted that after the end of the
financial year, the real and projected indicators of system functions get compared to each other.
Informational support to the proposed model is informational company system, which was built
in the PHP programming language on the Linux software platform, and with data based in My
SQL. The suggested model is tested on the system for the production and embedding bitumen
bound materials on the specific project. Obtained results confirm the assumptions used in work.
