jennetj: Anyone still out there?
This comm has been pretty moribund as of late. I'd love to get it going again.
This past Monday I stepped on the scale and bloody well near gave myself a heart attack. It showed better than 5# higher than my highest weight ever. I knew my pants were getting tight, but this is ridiculous!
So I've thrown myself back into the mercies of WW again. And as always, I'm looking for support, encouragement and companionship on my journey.
So far I've managed 2 days OP, and one of those even had the requisite APs. Despite my weekly workouts with my personal trainer, I'm finding the exercise thing to be the toughest thing to get back into. I'm doing pretty well with the eating (and not hitting up the vending machines twice a day for snacks is saving me a bundle), but the activity hasn't gotten itself going yet.
At least through this all, I've continued working with Jon, my trainer, so while I've gotten all fat again, I'm still stronger than I was. I keep thinking if I'm this strong now, how will I feel when I'm not hauling all these extra lbs around?
Anyway, so I'm back, trying to keep on the straight and narrow. Who's ready to join me?

I'm not on Weight Watchers but I kinda follow it once in a while, and I have a question: what does WW say about protein? Thanks.

deannie: Roasted Veggie Recipe
I've been trying to try new stuff, and farmer's markets are amazing places to do just that. I found three different kinds of radishes and two kinds of mini turnips I'd never even seen before! One is called a Turkish turnip (I think), and it's pink on the outside, then white shot through with pink on the inside. The other is a Japanese turnip, which is white all the way through. The radishes were just varied colors and such--white and purple and red and combinations thereof.
Anyway, I found a recipe yesterday to use some of my radishes, and I decided to add the turnips (the recipe said you could use any root veggies).
That was a fantastical idea!
kirbyfest? Take note:
( Roasted Root VeggiesCollapse )
So, there you go! A seasonal dish, perfect for vegans, vegetarians, and incredibly root-veggie-loving omnivores like ME!

sidewinder: Getting back on track
Well, I've discovered one thing this past week: the only way I can really, honestly, lose weight again when I want to?
Is to go back on Points.
I don't need to be monstrously strict about it (ie, if I go modestly over my Flex Points it's not the end of the world), but just saying, "Oh yeah, I'll watch what I'm eating a bit and try to exercise more" just doesn't work for me especially when I've been off the program entirely for a few years.
So, where I'm at:
Fall '03 weight: 198 pounds
Summer '04 after Weight Watchers: 135
Weight as of last Wednesday: 151 (eek-146 was my personal upper limit I'd set a while back)
Weight as of one week back on WW Points: 145--six pounds down. Just goes to show.
Goal by July: 137, ideally, though I'll take a steady 140. I have a busy summer ahead and I want to look good for it.
My clear-to-me-now weaknesses:
- Booze :P Curse my newly acquired appreciation for Bourbon & Coke. It's all the boyfriend's fault
- The boyfriend's big Italian family and their many family dinners, and my low resistance to enjoying homecooked Italian meals. However, just because there were SEVEN different desserts at Easter dinner, there was no need to me to sample ALL OF THEM.
- A stagnant exercise routine. This summer I need to find some new activities to shake it up.
- Bad snacking habits. Time to stop with all the bread & cheese again and go back to yogurt, fresh fruit, and other low-point choices. This probably does me more damage than any other mealtime excuses.
Well, there it is. Now to put it all into action.

octobre124: I had my Weigh In Today!
Today was my official weigh-in with Weight Watchers, I am now 269.8lbs. This represents a 2.2 pound loss over last week. WOO-HOO!
The measurement of my waist this morning was 47 1/2." Down about 2 1/2" from a few weeks ago when it was around 50" - another WOO-HOO!
I am amazed I was able to lose weight this week, given the hardship of being on business, BUT, I did bring my own food this time and that made a HUGE difference! But, I think what really made a difference for me this week was following the Vegetarian Food Pyramid to make sure I was getting enough nutrients and the support I have found on the internet. It has helped me stay motivated to stay on track; it makes me accountable.
Here's my weight loss history since I began getting serious about WW (back in March):
Date: Weight: Lbs. lost /gained Total lbs. lost
04/24/07 269.8 lb -2.2 lb -6.1 lb
04/16/07 272 lb -2 lb -3.9 lb
04/10/07 274 lb 0.2 lb -1.9 lb
04/04/07 273.8 lb 1 lb -2.1 lb
03/27/07 272.8 lb 3 lb -3.1 lb
03/24/07 269.8 lb -3 lb -6.1 lb
03/17/07 272.8 lb -3.1 lb -3.1 lb
03/07/07 275.9 lb
As you can see, I've had a slow/rough start, but I think I'm finally going to be heading down for a while now!

Hey all!
My name is Jill, and I'm a geek from NYC. Mostly comics, Harry Potter, SCA, and science fiction novels. I rather like the reasoning behind this comm. :)
Quick question...
Will anyone here be at:
-Phoenix Rising
-San Diego Comic Con
or
-Pennsic?
Just wondering...
Yay geeks!

Hello! I'm new to this community. I live in Puget Sound, WA and have recommitted myself to Weight Watchers just recently. I'm here for the long haul - to lose 152lbs.
I have a question - does your title Fandom Weight Watchers mean that you're a fan of Weight Watchers, or does it mean that you guys are fans (like you go to sci-fi cons, etc.)? Cause that would be really cool!

Okay, six weeks, untold stress, and mountains of junk food later, I've gained ten pounds. TEN! This after telling myself that this year, I'd lose at least ten. Great. Now I have to lose TWENTY! I've had it. Totally.
SOoooo. Here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna make a plan. A three-month plan. A reasonable three-month plan. It goes exactly like this:
- CHART EVERYTHING I EAT!
- Weeks 1 and 2: Drink twice as much water as I drink Diet Coke (and try to make that at least 64 oz. a day); exercise at least three days a week for at least 45 minutes a day (in addition to the mile-and-a-half I walk to and from work); meditate for ten minutes at least four days a week; drink/eat 2 servings of dairy a day.
- Weeks 3 and 4: Same water requirement (see if I can up the water to 72 oz. a day); exercise at least four days a week for at least 45 minutes a day; same meditation requirement; same dairy requirement; eat at least three servings of fruit a day.
- Month 2: 72 oz. of water a day; exercise for an hour five days a week; meditate every day for ten minutes; same dairy; same fruit; eat at least 5 servings of veggies a day; limit red meat to once a week; add one fish meal once a week.
- Month 3: 72 oz water/day; exercise six days a week, one hour a day; same meditation requirement; same dairy/fruit/veggies/meat/fish.
That's my plan. Starting today.
If that doesn't lose me at least the ten pounds I started with, I'm not sure what will!

Hello, all, ::waves::
It's been quiet lately, so I was wondering if anyone here is currently trying to lose? I gained some weight over the winter and in early February I decided I was going to start the spring slimdown early instead of being caught by surprise in mid-June ("Aah! Shorts! Where did those come from?!" lol). I also need to lose some weight I accumulated over the past year. (I lost thirty pounds a few years ago, and through a lot of stress had regained fifteen of those pounds over the past three years. I'm working to reverse this!)
Since I know this group is Weight Watchers-focused, though tolerant to other weight loss plans we fen might be on, I won't go on too much about the specifics of how I'm losing the weight. It's basically just good old-fashioned healthy food, calorie-counting, and regular exercise, anyway.
But it would be great to see who else out there is stepping up their weight loss plan, since I could really use all the camaraderie and encouragement I can get! Also to share tasty recipes and ideas about how to make tasty foods a little more weight-loss-friendly.
