arian_diana @ 3:13pm: Felt Easter Project Last Easter, my two youngest sons came home from preschool with a cute little Easter decoration made out of construction paper. I loved it and decided I'd make the same thing with felt.
Finally almost a year later, I did!

bluewrenn @ 5:04pm: ADMIN NOTICE While it was fun while it lasted, this community really didn't take off and so I'm letting everyone know that I will be deleting the felt_monsters community journal just as soon as I can figure out how to do it without deleting my own journal as well...
Thanks everyone who posted.

bluewrenn @ 11:59am: Kitties, kitties and more kitties... Here is what I've been working on recently...
They are all made using Patons Allure and worsted weight yarns on the knitting looms, and are stuffed with polyfiber fill. The eyes and noses were purchased from CRScrafts.com.
What are you guys working on at the moment?

bluewrenn @ 11:10pm: My latest monster - Bluey! Okay, so he's not made of felt, but of yarn instead, but he's pretty darn cute!
This is Bluey, my latest amigurumi attempt! He's a puppy, of sorts, and the pattern is a slightly altered version of one written by Ana Paula Rimoli, www.anapaulaoli.etsy.com.
(And no, I can't sell these, because the pattern is restricted to personal use only. But you are welcome to visit her ETSY site, where she has the pattern for sale.)

bluewrenn @ 12:03am: My newest felt creatures... These two creatures (in the picture below) were made through needle felting... (Basically you take a special barbed needle and some wool roving and you stab the roving until it starts to felt.)
Anyhow, these are my first attempts at needle felting - it's really easy and I'm having a lot of fun with it. And it's a lot easier to make teeny tiny animals using this technique than trying to sew them!
Check out Kitty and Bear!

bluewrenn @ 1:26am: Stuff to Swap In addition to monster dollies, I customize Barbies and make them into art dolls. As a result, I have loads of Barbie doll accessories - all those little plastic and cardboard thingees that come in the doll packages. I don't have many shoes to trade, but have a ton of other doll-sized items... plus a lot of doll clothes if someone can do something with them. (I've seen some awesome jewelry made from doll accessories.)
I also have a bunch of blonde-headed dolls that may or may not have faces anymore. (We remove them for repainting...)
I make monster dolls, gothic rag annies and felt dolls so I'm looking for any kind of doll making supplies - esp. felt (either squares or larger pieces) or bright striped fabric, embroidery threads, buttons for eyes and unusual ribbons (cloth only, none with wire in it please...), or doll patterns, esp. rag doll patterns.
(I also collect monster dollies and sock animals, if you'd like to trade dollies instead.) Email me at lucyandmoose@hotmail.com with what you'd like to swap, if you're interested. Thanks!

bluewrenn @ 12:25pm: Inexpensive Vendor link
For anyone who is interested, I found a great vendor link on another crafting site (sorry, can't remember which one...) for a company that sells doll making and teddy bear making supplies...
I checked them out and not only do they have a great selection, but they are very inexpensive AND they ship quickly!
I ordered a ton of stuff from them for about $10! Lots of animals eyes and those pellets for adding weight to my monsters... My next order will include noses, needle felting supplies and some doll making/miniatures making books.
CR's Crafts http://www.crscraft.com
I got a bunch of cat and owl eyes, in addition to the regular round eyes and I can't wait to make some new dollies!!! Plus I found some old patterns I had and will be trying them out soon! (I'll post pics when I do)

bluewrenn @ 11:16pm: The arrival of Gloopy
Today I got a special package in the mail - Gloopy by thricetimesover...
Not only do I love the way she did the eyes, but he is weighted down with pellets in his "bottom" - how totally cool!

bluewrenn @ 3:38pm: One of my favorite monsters...
It's a little bit strange, but one of my favorite of the monsters I have made...
(a little bit reminescent of The Adams Family...)
The Hand is made from printed fleece and stuffed with polyfiberfill.

bluewrenn @ 1:30pm: What's everyone working on? Hi everyone! In an effort to get the conversation going... I'm throwing out a topic -
"What's everyone working on? "
I'm working on a couple of things -
a crocheted apron to wear when doing dishes,
an amigurumi monkey,
a "dead skunk" scarf,
a "pointy kitty" using the pattern by Hillary Lang of http://www.weewonderfuls.com
and some felt dollies.
(I'll post pics when I'm done...)
just to introduce myself - I'm Bluewrenn, 41 y.o. living in TX, I'm a virtual assistant, knitting loom instructor and a folk artist/toymaker in the making. I make hats and scarves, knitted and crocheted items, felt dolls and monsters, animal dolls and more... I have 9 cats, 2 dogs and a very indulgent hubby.
My ETSY store is Lucy & Moose (http://www.lucyandmoose.etsy.com)
I collect monster dolls, sock animals, felt dollies and am a swapping fool.

bluewrenn @ 8:19am: more pics to share
This monster was one I received in a swap. He's so tiny... I named him (for lack of a better name) "Little Blue Alien"
The second picture is of Mohawk Bob!
He's not really a monster but he sure is wild!
He started out as a freeform crochet project but after I did the head and the red piece that became the mohawk,
my hubby said it looked like a chicken. I didn't want him to be a chicken, so I made his red piece be a hohawk instead.
He sports a black and red striped sweater, black boots and a stitch marker for an earring.
bluewrenn @ 12:19am: Is anyone a wizard at LJ? Does anyone know how to make a custom background for this journal? Can it be done? I'd like to try to come up with something really cool...Something fun!
And how do we set up links on the side? I think it would be cool if we could post our ETSY store links to the left side of the page...
Any ideas, suggestions etc. would be helpful.

bluewrenn @ 12:03am: Fred Flare Contest!!! Be the Next Great Thing! I found this contest through potatoxstamp's journal - FredFlare.com is having a contest to find new items to be sold on their site this year...
http://www.fredflare.com/customer/home_nextbigthing.php
Check it out! - maybe one of us crafty folks could win! (You have to read the rules but what an opportunity! Now to come up with something really cool before March 31st!!!)
Brightideas - I wonder if your sock monkeys might work...(Hey, can you post a pic of the monkey I bought from you? I wanna share it with everyone!)
