Femslash Exchange (original) (raw)

Just to update everyone still watching the LJ side of things, we still won't be crossposting to LJ this year, but we have made a feed from the DW site that will crosspost for us, so please subscribe to thefemslashex for updates on this year's schedule and rules.

04 August 2014 @ 05:07 am

As the DW comm seemed to get more traffic and comments, and crossposting to LJ is increasingly a pain in the butt, we will not be using the LJ comm as of the 2014 round.

Please see the DW Comm for 2014 rules and dates, and watch it for further announcements and discussion.

Femslashex is looking to run again this year. Right now, we think we'll open nominations in August with fic due the third week of October. Watch this space.

In the meantime, consider checking out rarewomen, a femslash-friendly exchange for rare female character of all fandoms. They're taking nominations for their 2014 round right now.

I hope you've all been enjoying your GIANT PILE OF FEMSLASH. I know I have. I still have ten tabs open, but hope to have read all of my fandoms over the next couple of days.

If you haven't already done so, I outright beg you to read and comment on stories written for you. Even if you defaulted, your author still wants to hear from you.

A couple people complained of an odd technical error wherein AO3 didn't show fest fic in your works section or in any of the archive tags. It's discussed here, the short version being that if you re-saved your work, without making any changes, it'd show up.

The long version is ( behind the cutCollapse )

So, bit of a bumpy ride this year from our end, though hopefully not too much of that showed up on the side of the participants. We want to take a minute to talk about proposed changes for next year and get your input on them.

Before I start, because it was something of a shake down cruise this year, we're offering amnesty to late defaulters. You will be allowed to participate next year, and we'll mention it again at the time. Call this a pre-series game, if that's more your fandom then nautical references. After that, the default rules stick.

Now, ( what worked and what didn'tCollapse )

I think that's it. However, if you have feedback on a topic not mentioned here, we'd like that too. I've turned on anon commenting on the Dreamwidth post, and hope that mostly people will comment there, keeping the discussion in one place. If that doesn't work for you, we'll be checking the mod e-mail for the next week or so, and commenting on all platforms is turned on. Constructive criticism pertaining to any area of the fest is welcome. Slinging abuse or making comments about the mods' personal lives will get deleted.

I huge thank you to everyone who has already offered feedback and advise, and everyone who answered our PMed/e-mailed requests for help.

Praise Be to Pinch Hitters!

Everyone should have gotten an e-mail notice about their story(ies). Failing that, try the gifts page in your AO3 profile. Please read and comment on your story as soon as you can manage. I know everyone worked really hard.

Some people have posted notes in the last post, or to the femslashex tumblr tag about not being around to comment for a while, but generally I wouldn't worry if no comments for a bit. It's mid week and a busy time of year.

The archive, as sorted by fandom, can be found here. Do take a read through when you get a chance. Also comment. And leave kudoes. And roll around in the giant pile of femslash! GIANT PILE OF FEMSLASH!

You may crosspost your story to wherever you like. There's no anon period on this fest. Promote your darlings!

Okay, I'm slightly giddy and wandering off to read my story now. Enjoy, everyone.

13 November 2013 @ 10:02 am

Archive should open around 11am (PST).

Thank you for your patience.

12 November 2013 @ 05:49 pm

Our fabulous pinch hitters are writing away, and I'm still hoping that the archive will open at 10am my time. If it does not, then it will be because our authors need just a little more time to work on their stories. I hope you will all continue with patience.

In any case, it won't open before 10am (PST) 13 November. If, by chance, anyone was still working on last minute edits, summaries or titles, it'd be good of you to run them through by then.

If you're not planning to be near the Internet tomorrow, it would be kind of you to leave a note for your author as to when you might get a chance to read your story. Especially if you'll be away for some time.

Again, I'm very sorry for the delay in opening. I will be doing a post-fest debrief with discussion of what worked, what didn't, and what might change next year. All input welcome at that time.

10 November 2013 @ 08:36 am

Pinch hits are all squared away (Thank you all. You're awesome!)

Do go forth and post all your less than 1k fic treats, all your more than 1k fic treats, and all your art treats!

Please go here for a full list of requests as sorted by fandom.

Have fun!

10 November 2013 @ 07:18 am

to take #20. Go here to see #20.

Fandoms: Homestruck, Gunnerkrigg Court, Dragon Age, Maria-sama ga Miteru.

This would be due 10AM (PST) 13 November (or best possible speed).

09 November 2013 @ 11:08 pm

1. There are 7 pinch hits open. Go here to see them.
2. Because there are so many failures to post, I'm extending the due date for pinch hits going out today by 24 hours, to 10am (PST) 13 November.
3. The archive will not open until that time. Sorry.
4. If I've sent a story you've somehow already posted to pinch hit, let me know. AO3 can be buggy, and I'm very tired.
5. Please hold off on treats less then 1k or art treats until pinch hitters have been assigned. I'll let you know when.
6. Mod is going to bed, but will be up in four hours or so to assign pinch hits and answer questions.

Good night, all. Happy editing.
