" so yesterday i saw DOWNFALL " [at cinema 21 theaters 616 NW 21st Ave.] (503) 223-4515 Downfall is completly what i hoped for...the hype is full-filled, Bruno Ganz played Hitler to the tee!!!at little moments when Hitler got mad, Bruno had the perfect mannerizums, at times i had chills. the ss soldiers and their generals were played out as beautifully as the german language they spoke. even though how bad it sucked rommel wasnt in the movie, everyone from himmler to goebbles, goering, speer and even hitler are all perfectly casted and their performance's are as good as when jesus gave his last performance on the cross in the passion.(which is bloodier than any b-movie and mob movie i've ever seen) then there comes a time in the film where you feel the power of it, when hitler secretary walks through the bunker to see goebbles's children singing how beautiful germany is to the ss then enters another room where the ss casually talks about the best-most effective place to shoot yourself, as the next room is sharing caplets of poison, then enters a room where soldiers are drunk and stumbling around as she makes her way to recieve a fare well from hitler. disturbing as it is fucking great. but of course in the theater (which i waited for the last day at the last showing) there was two completely rudeand disrespectfull teen age girls there, which at one time duringa hitler speeach uproar, they giggled. which it must have been funny to them to see an old man shake around like that but it was completly rude and as i gripped my luger a godess in front of them told them how rude it was and gave them a death stare. other than that the theater was amazing (besides the audio) it was all old school theater play style and before it started it even had a red curtain that they pulled away before the feature started. FUCK they even had balconys... those classy bastards. "this movie is perfect for third reich and historybuffs. but if your not into that the story is completly riveting and if you have a uniform fetish, as i do then this movie is the the on e to see." - noapokoni |
