lillian_waters @ 04:53 pm: ((OOC: no ones posted in a while so I'm starting a new thread)
Behind the inn, beside the edge of the forest, with a borrowed shortbow, shooting arrows at a target with her horse nearby...
*Shoots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 arrows in a row. The first four hit somewhat near the bull's eye, the fifth hits dead on*
Caveer (a medium size stallion the same chesnut color as Lily's hair): *neighs, as with dissaproval*
"Ha! I suppose you could do better? Ah yes, but horses haven't any thumbs."
*Chuckles softly and strokes Caveers nose. Gives him a few bites of carrot.*
Caveer: *neighs again, more softly this time.*
"Get a shortbow of my own! Caveer, my friend, that would be scandolous!"

nycteris_a @ 11:54 pm: In the middle of the night?
Nycteris dashes out of her room at the sound of Ariana's yell, half-dressed (in a blue dressing-robe covered with white clouds that no one was supposed to see. Ever.) but staff in hand. She skids to a stop, avoiding ploughing over Lily on the stairs, and gapes at the scene below. "JADEN!" She heads down the stairs in relief and excitement. "Jaden! I haven't seen you in ages! What news do you bring? How are you, old friend? I'm never sure whether you'll come back in one piece. And Ariana, that goes for you too. I'm glad you're back! I'm glad to see you both alive. Even in the middle of the night."
She grins until she notices Jaden's smile does not quite reach his eyes "What's wrong?"

ar1ana @ 04:47 pm: up on the roof
With a great gust of wind, Balden lands, a little heavier than usual, brought on by his mistress' obvious haste. She leaps from his back and run's down the stairs nearly bowling over the nightgown clad lady.
"For the sake of the One! What are you doing standing in the middle of the stairway. NYCTERIS!" she bellows has she races down the rest of the steps two at a time. "Gaius, I'm glad your up...." she pauses, mouth open and breathless, staring at Jaden. "Thank the One," she says in relief. She steps toward him greeting him in traditional warrior fashion. "I thought you dead. What happened?"
Current Mood: relieved

lillian_waters @ 10:03 pm: *fetches a candle with one hand, and a metal candle holder with the other. Creeps down the stairs ready to swing at anyone who crosses her path. See Gaius and the stranger hug and converse. Stares at the stranger with awe, as she has never seen an elf before.*
"My Lady?" asks Gaius.
*cheeks turn pink as she realizes she is wearing nothing but a chemise, and because she got caught staring.*
"Oh, yes, um...Gaius. Yes I..I heard a noise from my room, and I thought I would check...I would see what the commotion might be about."
*attempts to conceal candle holder*
"I can see that your reunion does not concern me, and I shall return to my room. Goodnight."
*curtsies with obvious embarassment, and goes upstairs*
jaden1 @ 12:53 pm: Things that go bump in the night
Jaden cursed as he watched the two thieves running from the Inn. It had taken him a week to track them to this place, and now, just as he was ready to capture them, something had spooked them. He sighed, and returned to where he had left his horse. Leading it by the reins, he made his way to the Inn.
"Gaius should be up and about with all that shouting," he thought. "I wonder if he's expecting me? After all, they probably think I'm still down south in the Unicorn Vale with Sharantyr and the children."
Jaden slowly pushed open the main door, and stepped inside. Only his elven reflexes saved him as a warhammer swept past his head, swung by Gaius. "Whoa! Gaius! It's me.. Jaden!" he cried. Gaius dropped the hammer, and swept the tall Ranger into a hearty embrace. he let go and stepped back to inspect his blood brother.
Looking back at him was a tall elf, with obsidian skin and violet eyes. He was dressed in buckskin breeches and tunic, with an elven chainmail shirt underneath. Twin short swords hung from his hips, and a quiver was slung over a shoulder. His boots were scuffed and worn and his shoulder length white hair was tied back from his brow with a leather cord.
"Jaden.. It's been too long. Come in. Nyc will be so happy to see you. Were you the reason those rats left this place in such a hurry?"
"Well Gaius, I admit I had been tracking them, but something else made them leave here. I was hoping to catch them in the act of looting the place."
"Will you go after them?"
"No, probably not. At least, not for a little while. I need some rest, and here at the Inn, I should get some. Let me go look after my horse and fetch my things, then we can talk."

lillian_waters @ 08:09 pm: *curtsies*
"Thank you for your kindness, Lady Nycteris. I will now retire to a room, and retreat to dreaming. May your sister, the sword-bearing Ariana, be sent home safetly to you."
*curtsies again, then walks over to the bar*
"Can I get something for you, my lady?" asks the bartender.
*touches her finger to her lip in thought*
"Might you have some warm goat milk, good man?"
*gathers her warm milk from Gaius, nods to Nycteris, and makes her way upstairs to her room*

nycteris_a @ 11:16 pm: Do Stay.
"I tend to think that plants in a garden are more useful and interesting than you notice at first glance, but I can see why you left your home. A rash and perhaps foolish decision, but the One has protected you thus far in your journey - you must be a woman of some skill on horseback! Six weeks!" Nycteris appraises Lillian's travelworn clothes. "I would be happy to have you stay at the Inn. We can discuss payment - if any - later. You are so eager to help me with an adventure, I'm sure that would count as payment enough. Perhaps I have some items that will help you on your journey as well."

lillian_waters @ 01:48 pm: Forgive my eagerness, Lady Nycteris. I'm afraid I'm not very wise. My brother Jonovan often says I'm a castle with lots of pretty windows, but there's no one home inside. That is why I left home, infact. He and my father were discussing border negotiations they were having with a nearby noble. I asked if I could a look at the paper work to offer my opinion about the matters. My father laughed at me and told me to go mind the roses in the garden. I collect a journal, my cape, and my horse, and told them I was leaving to go on an adventure. They continued to laugh at me as I rode out the castle portcullis. I'm certain they thought I would be home in a day to reclaim my canopy bed. I have traveled for six weeks, however, but I have yet to discover any adventure. My apologies, Lady Nycteris, I do not wish to lay my cares upon your sholders. It seems you have enough troubles of your own. I would be quite happy to stay at your inn. It is the only inn I have come across not full of drunkard farmers making comments about my rear as I pass. How much gold for a room, My
Lady?"
