A non-Hodgkin lymphoma with rapid growth and aggressive behavior is Burkitt's lymphoma. Burkitt's... more A non-Hodgkin lymphoma with rapid growth and aggressive behavior is Burkitt's lymphoma. Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) is also an oral cancer of lymphoid origin with a high percentage of occurrences and includes an advanced B-cell neoplasm. Fundamentally, the exact cause of BL is unknown. This disease commonly occurs in people with weakened immune systems or children related to the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and chronic malaria. Burkitt lymphoma can be fatal. Burkitt lymphoma is a rare but highly aggressive (fast-growing) B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). This disease may affect the jaw, central nervous system, bowel, kidneys, ovaries, or other organs Cancer cells in BL can spread to all parts of the body. Inhibiting the proliferation of BL oral cancer cells requires a viable and efficient plan. One of them is using medicinal plants whose antitumor potential needs to be scientifically tested. However, Burkitt lymphoma is often very responsive to the currently recommended intensive chemotherapy regimens, and cure rates for this disease remain high. Studies show people who receive treatment right away have high rates of remission, meaning after treatment they don't have symptoms or signs of the condition. The aim of this review is to discuss Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) in diagnosis and treatment. Burkitt's lymphoma, or Raji cell, is a B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma that is very aggressive.

This collective toothbrushing activity aims to improve the dental and oral hygiene of SLB N 1 Ban... more This collective toothbrushing activity aims to improve the dental and oral hygiene of SLB N 1 Bantul by practicing independent toothbrushing activity in maintaining their oral and dental health. It started with a dental hygiene screening, followed by training on collective toothbrushing and making squishy according to the students' creativity attached to each toothbrush. The collective toothbrushing was supervised by the class teacher and service team. Furthermore, the simple scoring after the activity was conducted. Significant changes were identified in the students' oral hygiene after brushing their teeth. The spirit of brushing teeth properly and correctly appeared along with the students' happiness in making squishy creations attached to their toothbrushes.

Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd has been used traditionally to cure breast cancer, lung, colon, rect... more Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd has been used traditionally to cure breast cancer, lung, colon, rectum, liver, prostate, kidney, cervix, throat, bone, brain, spleen, bladder, leukimia and pancreas cancer. The ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd contained active compounds that could inhibit cancer cell growth. One of the active compounds was saponin and phenolic. The aim of study was to examine the potency ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. as inductor of apoptosis in human oral tongue cancer cell Supri's Clone-1 (SP-C1). The desingn of used in this study was pure laboratoris experimental with human oral tongue cancer cells line (SP-C1) as a sample which treated by ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd in various concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 µg/ml) for 48 hours. Apoptosis examination was carrried out by painting with etidium bromide-acridin orange. The result of the study showed that etanolic exstract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. induced apoptotic SP-C1 cell line. Statistical analisis with One Way Anova revealed etanolic extract in various concentration have significant differences (P=0,00) after treated with etanolic extract Typonium flagelliforme Lodd. It also found that the most effective concentration inducing apoptosis of human tongue cancer cells Supri's Clone-1 (SP-C1) was the 125 µg/mL. The conclusion of this research, ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. has a potency to induce apoptosis human oral tongue cancer cells (SP-C1).

Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi erupsi gigi, salah satunya adalah nutrisi. Nutrisi sangat penting untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan seseorang, termasuk erupsi gigi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi molar tiga. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analytic descriptive dengan pendekatan cross sectional dengan melibatkan 90 mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta yang diambil dengan metode consequentive sampling. Subyek penelitian terbagi dalam 3 kriteria IMT (indeks massa tubuh), yakni 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi kurus, 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi normal, dan 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi gemuk. Hasil analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistic chi square menunjukkan hubungan yang tidak signifikan P=0,092 atau P>0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi molar tiga.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi insisivus sentralis permanen mandibula. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analytic descriptive dengan pendekatan cross sectional yang melibatkan 60 siswa dengan usia 6-7 tahun yang bersekolah di sekolah dasar negeri di Kecamatan Kasihan, Kabupaten Bantul, DIY yang diambil dengan metode consecutive sampling. Subyek penelitian terbagi dalam 2 kriteria status gizi berdasarkan Tinggi Badan menurut Usia (TB/U), yaitu 30 siswa dengan status gizi pendek dan 30 siswa dengan status gizi normal. Hasil analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistic chi square menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan (P<0,05). Kesimpulan terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi insisivus sentralis permanen mandibula.

Karsinoma sel skuomosa bisa terjadi di berbagai tempat, seperti di bibir, dasar mulut, lidah, maupun bagian lainnya di rongga mulut. Penyakit kanker ini jika tidak ditangani secara serius dapat mengakibatkan kematian penderitanya, sehingga diperlukan tindakan nyata untuk menanggulangi penyakit ini. Gambaran kanker ini sangat bervariasi, untuk itu perlu dipastikan penegakan diagnosis dan terapi yang tepat untuk keberhasilan penyembuhannya.

High intake of energy and fat may have contributed to obesity.. Objective: To examine the relationship between energy intake, fat intake and obesity among adolescents. Method: A Case Control Study was conducted in 2003. Subjects were Junior High School students, age 10-15 years, living in the city of Jogjakarta and Bantul Regency were included in the study. Data on nutrition intake were collected by using Food Frequency Questionnaires from 140 obese and 140 non obese junior high school students.

Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated candida species from the oral cavity. The overgr... more Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated candida species from the oral cavity. The overgrowth of C. albicans can cause opportunistic infections in the oral cavity, called oral candidiasis. On the other hand, papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) have benefits and are efficacious as antifungal drugs. The results of various studies reveal that papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) contain various active compounds, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins, which can inhibit the growth of C. albicans fungus. This literature review, therefore, aims to ascertain the activity of active compounds in papaya leaves in inhibiting the growth of C. albicans in the oral cavity Medawati, Andriani, Rahmawati, Hidayati 1718 INTRODUCTION Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated candida species from the oral cavity, the most common cause of oral candidiasis. The fungus C. albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus that causes human diseases, such as thrush and gastrointestinal candidiasis. Overgrowth of C. albicans can cause opportunistic infections in the oral cavity, called oral candidiasis. C. albicans can also multiply rapidly and cause oral candidiasis infections when there is an imbalance, such as due to local environment (change in pH or nutrition), use of antibiotics, changes in the immune system (caused by infection or immunosuppressant therapy), malnutrition, poor oral hygiene, dental malocclusion, decreased immune system, impaired salivary gland function, drugs, dentures, high carbohydrate diet, smoking, diabetes mellitus, and immunosuppressive conditions. Moreover, Candida overgrowth can cause local discomfort, altered taste sensation, dysphagia of the esophagus resulting in poor nutrition, slow recovery, prolonged hospital stay, burning sensation in the mouth, which increases when eating spicy food7, the presence of slight bleeding in the area around the base of the lesion, and dry mouth. The incidence of candidemia in European countries and Brazil from an analysis demonstrated that 63% and 40.9% were due to C. albicans. Candidemia is the presence of Candida species in the blood. In Indonesia, a retrospective study conducted in 2010-2014 at Dr. Hasan Sadikin (RSHS) Bandung revealed that during this period, 49 patients suffered from oral candidiasis, with the highest prevalence being men, as many as 34 people (69.3%). On the other hand, Indonesia is a country that has natural wealth with a wide variety of flora and fauna. Plants that grow around the environment have benefits and are efficacious as medicine. Specifically, the papaya plant can be used as medicine because almost all parts have health value. One part of this plant is the leaves. Papaya leaves are often used in traditional medicine due to the role of the active compound content. The active compounds in papaya leaves, such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and phenols, have an antifungal role. For this reason, this literature review aims to ascertain the activity of active compounds in papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) in inhibiting the growth of the fungus C. albicans in the oral cavity.

Aim: To examine the decreased of metastatic associated protein-1 (MTA-1), complex of cyclin-depen... more Aim: To examine the decreased of metastatic associated protein-1 (MTA-1), complex of cyclin-dependent kinase-2 (CDK2)–cyclin E, and nuclear factor-kappa beta (NF-kB) expression as a molecular target therapy of oral Burkitt’s lymphoma (Raji) cells mediated by oligonucleotides KIP-1 sense (KIP-1 S) and SKP-2 antisense (SKP-2 AS). Materials and Methods: In the study, the pure laboratory experimental with posttest only control group design was confirmed. The MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide] assay was performed to evaluate the suppression of cell growth. The chemotactic migration activity was carried out by Boyden chamber assay. Activation of MTA-1, NF-kB, cyclin E, CDK2, SKP-2, KIP-1, and α-tubulin was investigated by Western blot analysis. Apoptosis cells were analyzed by caspase-3 and caspase-9. Results: The growth inhibition and chemotactic migration activity of KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS cells were significantly inhibited when compared with the scrambled control (SC) cells. Interestingly, Raji-KIP-1 S has potentially greater cell growth and migrated chemotactic suppression than SKP-2 AS. Induction of cell apoptosis was confirmed in KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS proofed by increasing the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9. Decreased level of MTA-1, NF-kB, cyclin E, CDK2, SKP-2, and increased level of KIP-1 protein were detected in KIP-1 S- and SKP-2 AS-treated cells. Conclusion: KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS have strong antitumor activity on the oral Burkitt’s lymphoma cells through downregulation of MTA-1, CDK2–cyclin E complex, and NF-kB expression. However, KIP-1 S had a stronger antitumor activity than SKP-2 AS targeting these molecules could represent a promising new therapeutic approach for this type of tumor.

Introduction: Burkitt's lymphoma is a high-grade B-cell neoplasm and one of the most aggressive m... more Introduction: Burkitt's lymphoma is a high-grade B-cell neoplasm and one of the most aggressive malignancies of lymphoid origins which found mainly in the paediatric population. The treatment options of this tumour are still limited. However, a new strategy for refractory tumour, phosphorothioate oligonucleotide antisense technique has watched with keen interest. This study was aimed to examine the effect of antisense p45Skp-2 (Skp-2 AS) suppressed migratory chemotactic and metastasis of oral malignant Burkitt's lymphoma (Raji) cell through down-regulation of MTA-1 and E-cadherin. Methods: True experiment laboratory with post-test control group design was confirmed in this study. The efficiency of Skp-2 AS in the suppression of cell chemotactic migration was examined by Boyden chamber assay. To evaluate the inhibition of cell metastasis was conducted by decreasing MTA-1 expression protein. The expressions of MTA-1, E-cadherin and α-tubulin protein were investigated by Western blot analysis. Results: The results revealed that the number of chemotactic migration of Skp-2 AS treated Raji cell was significantly decreased when compared with that of sense p45Skp-2 (Skp-2 S) and scrambled control (SC) cells (P<0.05) followed by decreased expressions of MTA-1 protein and overexpression of E-cadherin. Interestingly, the expression of α-tubulin protein as an internal control was approximately similar in each transfectant cells. Conclusion: p45Skp-2 have an antitumor activity via suppression of migratory chemotactic activity and metastasis on oral Burkitt's lymphoma cells through down-regulation of MTA-1 and induction of E-cadherin proteins targeting this molecule could represent a promising new therapeutic approach for this type of cancer.

Kulit buah jengkol (P. lobatum Benth.) mengandung senyawa aktif saponin, tanin dan flavonoid yang berperan pada penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek pemberian gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. terhadap kepadatan kolagen pada proses penyembuhan luka pascapencabutan gigi Cavia cobaya jantan. Jenis penelitian eksperimental murni in vivo, rancangan posttest only control group. Subjek penelitian 45 ekor C. cobaya, dibagi lima kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok I (povidone iodin) sebagai kontrol positif, kelompok II (tanpa perlakuan) sebagai kontrol negatif, kelompok III, IV dan V adalah kelompok perlakuan yang diberi gel ekstrak dengan konsetrasi 1%, 5% dan 10%. C. cobaya didekapitulasi rahang pada hari pertama, ketiga dan ketujuh. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro Wilk, dilanjutkan uji One Way Anova dan uji Tukey HSD (Honestly Significant Difference). Hasil uji normalitas Shapiro Wilk menunjukkan distribusi data yang normal (p>0,05). Uji One Way Anova menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kepadatan kolagen di antara kelima kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kepadatan kolagen signifikan pada kelompok V (gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. konsentrasi 10%) dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p <0,05). Kesimpulan menunjukkan pemberian gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. konsentrasi 10% efektif terhadap peningkatan kepadatan kolagen pada proses penyembuhan luka pascapencabutan gigi.

The aim of study was to examine the anti invasion potency ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelli... more The aim of study was to examine the anti invasion potency ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves toward the growth inhibition of human oral tongue cancer cell Supri's Clone-1 (SP-C1). The design of this study was pure laboratory experimental research with the sample of human oral tongue cancer cell (SP-C1). SP-C1 invasion was inhibitad by ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves in some concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 µg/ml). The samples were then incubated in 24 hours. As a control SP-C1 was grown in Rosswell Park Memorial Institute 1640 (RPMI-1640). Boyden chamber kit were used in the study. Result of the study showed that ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves was markedly inhibit the invasion of SP-C1 cell. The concentration of 125 µg/ml was found ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves has more to inhibit potency the invasion of SP-C1 cell. The conclusion ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves has significant invasion to inhibit potency the invasion of human oral tongue cancer cell line (SP-C1).

Kanker adalah penyakit yang ditandai dengan pembelahan sel yang tidak terkendali dan kemampuan se... more Kanker adalah penyakit yang ditandai dengan pembelahan sel yang tidak terkendali dan kemampuan sel-sel tersebut untuk menyerang jaringan biologis lainya, Pada penelitian ini menggunakan Lidah Buaya (Aloe vera L) yang memiliki banyak khasiat sebagai anti kanker, anti bakteri, anti jamur, anti inflamasi, dan memiliki efek analgesik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji daya hambat proliferasi sel kanker rongga mulut (SP-C1) menggunakan ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya. Desain penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris murni. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini menggunakan kultur sel kanker lidah (SP-C1) yang dibiakan dalam media Dubelcco's modified eagle medium (DMEM) yang diberi foetal Bovine Serum 10% (FBS). JenisLidah buaya yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Aloe vera L arborescens. Sel SP-C1 yang tumbuh sub-confluent dipanen menggunakan Tripsin-EDTA 0,25%. Sel sebanyak 1x 10 4 sel/sumur dimasukkkan cawan petri 24 sumur, sesuai jumlah dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya yang digunakan. Sel di inkubasi selama 24 jam. Setelah inkubasi, semua media dibuang dan diganti dengan media baru yang mengandung berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak Lidah buaya. Sel di inkubasi selama 0, 24, 48 dan 72 jam. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya pada konsentrasi 75 mg/ml dan 100 ml/mg cenderung menurunkan jumlah proliferasi sel SP-C1 dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi 0 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, dan 50 mg/ml dengan signifikansi p<0.05. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya efektif menghambat proliferasi sel kanker rongga mulut SP-C1 secara In Vitro.

Siwak wood contains subject of active antimicribial, such as saponin, terpenoid, and fenol which effective in killing and inhibiting some the growth of oral aerob and anaerob bactery also as non fungal. The research has purpose to search the effectivity of siwak wood etanol extract antibactery with percolation method to isolat 248 S. aureus growth to amicacyn, amoxicilyn, amphycilyin,eritromicyn, canamicyn, chloramphenicol, mesilynam, penicilyn G, sefepym, seltadizym, sefotacsym, seftriacson, sefurocym, and tetraciclyn. This research was experimental study (in vitro) in microbiology laboratory of Medical Faculty of Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta, trough antibactery potention test of liquid dilution method. Siwak stick was made etanol extract using percolation method and made various concetration from 0, 09 up to 25%. Antibactery capacity was determined by measurement of minimal killing value measuarement was based on the smallest consentration which can be kill bactery continuously by observation the growing of isolat 248 S. aureus colony. The result shows that siwak wood etanol extract with percolation method has minimal killing value in 25% concentration to isolat 248 S. aureus.

Statistical analisis with One Way Anova revealed etanolic extract in various concentration have significant differences (P=0,00) after treated with etanolic extract Typonium flagelliforme Lodd. It also found that the most effective concentration inducing apoptosis of human tongue cancer cells Supri's Clone-1 (SP-C1) was the 125 µg/mL. The conclusion of this research, ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. has a potency to induce apoptosis human oral tongue cancer cells (SP-C1).

Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi erupsi gigi, salah satunya adalah nutrisi. Nutrisi sangat penting untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan seseorang, termasuk erupsi gigi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi molar tiga. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analytic descriptive dengan pendekatan cross sectional dengan melibatkan 90 mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta yang diambil dengan metode consequentive sampling. Subyek penelitian terbagi dalam 3 kriteria IMT (indeks massa tubuh), yakni 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi kurus, 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi normal, dan 30 mahasiswa dengan status gizi gemuk. Hasil analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistic chi square menunjukkan hubungan yang tidak signifikan P=0,092 atau P>0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi molar tiga.

Erupsi gigi dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya adalah nutrisi. Nutrisi sangat penting untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan fisik, termasuk erupsi gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi insisivus sentralis permanen mandibula. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analytic descriptive dengan pendekatan cross sectional yang melibatkan 60 siswa dengan usia 6-7 tahun yang bersekolah di sekolah dasar negeri di Kecamatan Kasihan, Kabupaten Bantul, DIY yang diambil dengan metode consecutive sampling. Subyek penelitian terbagi dalam 2 kriteria status gizi berdasarkan Tinggi Badan menurut Usia (TB/U), yaitu 30 siswa dengan status gizi pendek dan 30 siswa dengan status gizi normal. Hasil analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistic chi square menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan (P<0,05). Kesimpulan terdapat hubungan antara status gizi dengan status erupsi gigi insisivus sentralis permanen mandibula.

Penyakit kanker ini jika tidak ditangani secara serius dapat mengakibatkan kematian penderitanya, sehingga diperlukan tindakan nyata untuk menanggulangi penyakit ini. Gambaran kanker ini sangat bervariasi, untuk itu perlu dipastikan penegakan diagnosis dan terapi yang tepat untuk keberhasilan penyembuhannya.

The overgrowth of C. albicans can cause opportunistic infections in the oral cavity, called oral candidiasis. On the other hand, papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) have benefits and are efficacious as antifungal drugs. The results of various studies reveal that papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) contain various active compounds, such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins, which can inhibit the growth of C. albicans fungus. This literature review, therefore, aims to ascertain the activity of active compounds in papaya leaves in inhibiting the growth of C. albicans in the oral cavity Medawati, Andriani, Rahmawati, Hidayati 1718 INTRODUCTION Candida albicans is the most frequently isolated candida species from the oral cavity, the most common cause of oral candidiasis. The fungus C. albicans is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus that causes human diseases, such as thrush and gastrointestinal candidiasis. Overgrowth of C. albicans can cause opportunistic infections in the oral cavity, called oral candidiasis. C. albicans can also multiply rapidly and cause oral candidiasis infections when there is an imbalance, such as due to local environment (change in pH or nutrition), use of antibiotics, changes in the immune system (caused by infection or immunosuppressant therapy), malnutrition, poor oral hygiene, dental malocclusion, decreased immune system, impaired salivary gland function, drugs, dentures, high carbohydrate diet, smoking, diabetes mellitus, and immunosuppressive conditions. Moreover, Candida overgrowth can cause local discomfort, altered taste sensation, dysphagia of the esophagus resulting in poor nutrition, slow recovery, prolonged hospital stay, burning sensation in the mouth, which increases when eating spicy food7, the presence of slight bleeding in the area around the base of the lesion, and dry mouth. The incidence of candidemia in European countries and Brazil from an analysis demonstrated that 63% and 40.9% were due to C. albicans. Candidemia is the presence of Candida species in the blood. In Indonesia, a retrospective study conducted in 2010-2014 at Dr. Hasan Sadikin (RSHS) Bandung revealed that during this period, 49 patients suffered from oral candidiasis, with the highest prevalence being men, as many as 34 people (69.3%). On the other hand, Indonesia is a country that has natural wealth with a wide variety of flora and fauna. Plants that grow around the environment have benefits and are efficacious as medicine. Specifically, the papaya plant can be used as medicine because almost all parts have health value. One part of this plant is the leaves. Papaya leaves are often used in traditional medicine due to the role of the active compound content. The active compounds in papaya leaves, such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and phenols, have an antifungal role. For this reason, this literature review aims to ascertain the activity of active compounds in papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) in inhibiting the growth of the fungus C. albicans in the oral cavity.

Aim: To examine the decreased of metastatic associated protein-1 (MTA-1), complex of cyclin-depen... more Aim: To examine the decreased of metastatic associated protein-1 (MTA-1), complex of cyclin-dependent kinase-2 (CDK2)–cyclin E, and nuclear factor-kappa beta (NF-kB) expression as a molecular target therapy of oral Burkitt’s lymphoma (Raji) cells mediated by oligonucleotides KIP-1 sense (KIP-1 S) and SKP-2 antisense (SKP-2 AS). Materials and Methods: In the study, the pure laboratory experimental with posttest only control group design was confirmed. The MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide] assay was performed to evaluate the suppression of cell growth. The chemotactic migration activity was carried out by Boyden chamber assay. Activation of MTA-1, NF-kB, cyclin E, CDK2, SKP-2, KIP-1, and α-tubulin was investigated by Western blot analysis. Apoptosis cells were analyzed by caspase-3 and caspase-9. Results: The growth inhibition and chemotactic migration activity of KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS cells were significantly inhibited when compared with the scrambled control (SC) cells. Interestingly, Raji-KIP-1 S has potentially greater cell growth and migrated chemotactic suppression than SKP-2 AS. Induction of cell apoptosis was confirmed in KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS proofed by increasing the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9. Decreased level of MTA-1, NF-kB, cyclin E, CDK2, SKP-2, and increased level of KIP-1 protein were detected in KIP-1 S- and SKP-2 AS-treated cells. Conclusion: KIP-1 S and SKP-2 AS have strong antitumor activity on the oral Burkitt’s lymphoma cells through downregulation of MTA-1, CDK2–cyclin E complex, and NF-kB expression. However, KIP-1 S had a stronger antitumor activity than SKP-2 AS targeting these molecules could represent a promising new therapeutic approach for this type of tumor.

The treatment options of this tumour are still limited. However, a new strategy for refractory tumour, phosphorothioate oligonucleotide antisense technique has watched with keen interest. This study was aimed to examine the effect of antisense p45Skp-2 (Skp-2 AS) suppressed migratory chemotactic and metastasis of oral malignant Burkitt's lymphoma (Raji) cell through down-regulation of MTA-1 and E-cadherin. Methods: True experiment laboratory with post-test control group design was confirmed in this study. The efficiency of Skp-2 AS in the suppression of cell chemotactic migration was examined by Boyden chamber assay. To evaluate the inhibition of cell metastasis was conducted by decreasing MTA-1 expression protein. The expressions of MTA-1, E-cadherin and α-tubulin protein were investigated by Western blot analysis. Results: The results revealed that the number of chemotactic migration of Skp-2 AS treated Raji cell was significantly decreased when compared with that of sense p45Skp-2 (Skp-2 S) and scrambled control (SC) cells (P<0.05) followed by decreased expressions of MTA-1 protein and overexpression of E-cadherin. Interestingly, the expression of α-tubulin protein as an internal control was approximately similar in each transfectant cells. Conclusion: p45Skp-2 have an antitumor activity via suppression of migratory chemotactic activity and metastasis on oral Burkitt's lymphoma cells through down-regulation of MTA-1 and induction of E-cadherin proteins targeting this molecule could represent a promising new therapeutic approach for this type of cancer.

Kulit buah jengkol (P. lobatum Benth.) mengandung senyawa aktif saponin, tanin dan flavonoid yang berperan pada penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek pemberian gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. terhadap kepadatan kolagen pada proses penyembuhan luka pascapencabutan gigi Cavia cobaya jantan. Jenis penelitian eksperimental murni in vivo, rancangan posttest only control group. Subjek penelitian 45 ekor C. cobaya, dibagi lima kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok I (povidone iodin) sebagai kontrol positif, kelompok II (tanpa perlakuan) sebagai kontrol negatif, kelompok III, IV dan V adalah kelompok perlakuan yang diberi gel ekstrak dengan konsetrasi 1%, 5% dan 10%. C. cobaya didekapitulasi rahang pada hari pertama, ketiga dan ketujuh. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro Wilk, dilanjutkan uji One Way Anova dan uji Tukey HSD (Honestly Significant Difference). Hasil uji normalitas Shapiro Wilk menunjukkan distribusi data yang normal (p>0,05). Uji One Way Anova menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan kepadatan kolagen di antara kelima kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kepadatan kolagen signifikan pada kelompok V (gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. konsentrasi 10%) dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p <0,05). Kesimpulan menunjukkan pemberian gel ekstrak kulit buah P. lobatum Benth. konsentrasi 10% efektif terhadap peningkatan kepadatan kolagen pada proses penyembuhan luka pascapencabutan gigi.

The design of this study was pure laboratory experimental research with the sample of human oral tongue cancer cell (SP-C1). SP-C1 invasion was inhibitad by ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves in some concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 µg/ml). The samples were then incubated in 24 hours. As a control SP-C1 was grown in Rosswell Park Memorial Institute 1640 (RPMI-1640). Boyden chamber kit were used in the study. Result of the study showed that ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves was markedly inhibit the invasion of SP-C1 cell. The concentration of 125 µg/ml was found ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves has more to inhibit potency the invasion of SP-C1 cell. The conclusion ethanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. leaves has significant invasion to inhibit potency the invasion of human oral tongue cancer cell line (SP-C1).

Kanker adalah penyakit yang ditandai dengan pembelahan sel yang tidak terkendali dan kemampuan se... more Kanker adalah penyakit yang ditandai dengan pembelahan sel yang tidak terkendali dan kemampuan sel-sel tersebut untuk menyerang jaringan biologis lainya, Pada penelitian ini menggunakan Lidah Buaya (Aloe vera L) yang memiliki banyak khasiat sebagai anti kanker, anti bakteri, anti jamur, anti inflamasi, dan memiliki efek analgesik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengkaji daya hambat proliferasi sel kanker rongga mulut (SP-C1) menggunakan ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya. Desain penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratoris murni. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini menggunakan kultur sel kanker lidah (SP-C1) yang dibiakan dalam media Dubelcco's modified eagle medium (DMEM) yang diberi foetal Bovine Serum 10% (FBS). JenisLidah buaya yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Aloe vera L arborescens. Sel SP-C1 yang tumbuh sub-confluent dipanen menggunakan Tripsin-EDTA 0,25%. Sel sebanyak 1x 10 4 sel/sumur dimasukkkan cawan petri 24 sumur, sesuai jumlah dengan konsentrasi ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya yang digunakan. Sel di inkubasi selama 24 jam. Setelah inkubasi, semua media dibuang dan diganti dengan media baru yang mengandung berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak Lidah buaya. Sel di inkubasi selama 0, 24, 48 dan 72 jam. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya pada konsentrasi 75 mg/ml dan 100 ml/mg cenderung menurunkan jumlah proliferasi sel SP-C1 dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi 0 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, dan 50 mg/ml dengan signifikansi p<0.05. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak etanol Lidah buaya efektif menghambat proliferasi sel kanker rongga mulut SP-C1 secara In Vitro.

Siwak wood contains subject of active antimicribial, such as saponin, terpenoid, and fenol which effective in killing and inhibiting some the growth of oral aerob and anaerob bactery also as non fungal. The research has purpose to search the effectivity of siwak wood etanol extract antibactery with percolation method to isolat 248 S. aureus growth to amicacyn, amoxicilyn, amphycilyin,eritromicyn, canamicyn, chloramphenicol, mesilynam, penicilyn G, sefepym, seltadizym, sefotacsym, seftriacson, sefurocym, and tetraciclyn. This research was experimental study (in vitro) in microbiology laboratory of Medical Faculty of Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta, trough antibactery potention test of liquid dilution method. Siwak stick was made etanol extract using percolation method and made various concetration from 0, 09 up to 25%. Antibactery capacity was determined by measurement of minimal killing value measuarement was based on the smallest consentration which can be kill bactery continuously by observation the growing of isolat 248 S. aureus colony. The result shows that siwak wood etanol extract with percolation method has minimal killing value in 25% concentration to isolat 248 S. aureus.
