Flagtown's Journal (original) (raw)

Hello!
My 1 1/2 year old kitty, Ping, needs a new home. He is neutered and has just received all of his shots. He's a short-hair grey striped tabby/maine coon mix.
Unfortunately, the problem is is that he has been diagnosed with feline leukemia (his test results came back today, in fact). He is not exhibiting any symptoms, but is carrying the virus, which can be spread to other cats.
The reason I have to get rid of him is because we have other cats in the house who do not have it and we cannot keep them isolated from each other forever.
I know this is a big responsibility for somebody to take on with a new pet, but if I cannot find a loving home for him soon, we are going to have to put him down and he's just so young that it would absolutely break my heart to have to do.

He's still very young and has at least a few good years left in him before the disease takes over (assuming it does at all, research indicates it may clear up on its own...but there's no way to know which direction it will go).

If you are interested, you have to know that he must be kept indoors for the rest of his natural life and absolutely cannot be around any other cats (unless, of course, they have it too!)
The disease is not communicable to dogs, people or any other animals besides cats, so other pets and children are fine.
If you are interested, or know somebody who is, we will travel anywhere within the state to bring him to you!

He is super playful, talks a lot and has a lot of love for somebody special who is looking for a special pet.
