Fandom Trumps Hate Charity Auction - one day left for sign ups [Feb. 1st, 2019|01:06 am]Alatri Fiction
[**Tags**|pimping]{cough} Yes, I've neglected this site for a really long time. A trilogy of reasons, really, mostly having to do with the fact that I haven't actually been writing much for a long time. But I am at least still around. ^^ Even if I'm still annoyed at having changed all my user names because of the darn stalker (who seems to have finally vanished off the face of the earth, thank goodness - it just never seemed to stop there for a few years o.o) In the stuff that folks who might actually still be following this journal might be interested in, I've actually made progress on "Brothers Unbound", the next of the Not-A-Villain Clex series! Haven't forgotten about it, really! It's just, as with all of them, epic. But it's progressing along. Now if the characters will stop adding things into it that I *hadn't* planned, it might actually get done sometime this year. ^^ I'm going to try hard to get it out and then back on track for finishing the series (there's only a couple left to go).The one thing I actually got out this year (last year) was another Marvel AllCaps got posted - well, really, the first quarter of it which I polished off and posted on it's own because I don't want to commit to actually writing the whole thing. ;p It was good enough where it was, even if the story keeps on going in my own mind.For the point of this post, though...The Fandom Trumps Hate auction has one day left for sign-upshttps://fandomtrumpshate.dreamwidth.org/Sorry for not posting it earlier - I've been following it more on Tumblr and haven't broken out the dreamwidth for awhile.I love their concept - fandom donations for charity are always good things, from the early days of Sweet Charity to the Hope for Haiti auctions, and the others. I try and support where I can, in either bidding if I have the money at the time, or in works if I have the fandom time for it. In these days, particularly in America, with so much hatred and outright nastiness and the targeting of minorities... and the people at the top of the administration allowing and encouraging it, it just is horrible. My friends and I pass political news links to each other and exclaim and are WTF that it's all happening and that people let it happen and ... it's pretty bad. And I'm not one of the targeted groups and I live in a fairly safe area with a solid liberal core all around me. With all that... now is the time for us to step up where we can. Fandom Trumps hate has chosen and vetted several charities that are not the larger ones but smaller ones where our donations can really and truly make a difference in helping to protect and assist those being targeted by this current administration. (Which is not to say the big charities don't make a difference too - I'm all for the ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Center nowadays! but they don't need extra advertising - these other groups do.)They accept for bidding: - fic - digital art, which includes but is not limited to gifsets, manips, moodboards, &c. - podfics - fanvids - fan labor, which includes but is not limited to betaing, brit/japan/america-picking, etc.Then, as with the other charity auction groups, the winning bidders donate to the charity of their choice (from the list or at the creator's specification), and the creators go to work.I signed up for two fanfics on offer, 5-10k each. One Marvel Universe, All Caps (Sam/Steve/Bucky), and one anything you want of my other fandoms. We'll see how it goes. ^^If you want to sign up too, do it now! One day left for sign ups! I told my volunteer organization I wasn't going to do it another year, and I still have a few months to go, but it's a great relief to get that off. Back to fic and fandom! That didn’t mean those possibilities weren’t something they faced every day.--Warnings: POSSIBLE DEATH FIC – AMBIGUOUS ENDING Notes: This is a bit of darkfic, with an ambiguous ending. Not my normal sort of cup of tea, I’ll admit. I like happier endings. However, in the middle of a recent post by Rallamajoop (a marvelous piece reviewing the UNCLE tv series for the new viewer, going over premise, characters, the slash, the appeal, 50 years on), there’s a line about “not talking about it is simply how they deal with the ever-present threat that one or both of them could die in the line of duty”. It’s just one line out of a lot of meta about many, many things... but it stuck with me. I woke up with this ficlet running through my mind and while I normally redirect the darker ones into something lighter... after it persisted for the day, I decided it had to be written. Lighter fics coming another time. And, since the ending IS ambiguous... you can choose which way you want it to go. So it doesn’t have to be... that’s just one way it might go. As always, with them.(Also, can be read as either gen or slash - just like the series ^^)

But mostly because I've been working primarily off my new tablet/laptop combo and it's still a bit weird to me, so the less back and forth I do on sites, the better at the moment. Getting more and more used to it, though. I haven't abandoned the Smallville fics - promise. ^^ Just enjoying the MFU movie while it was in the theaters and the flush of new fandoms and fans. I've got all the pieces worked out for the stories I have in progress and will be getting back to them. This has been another heck of a year (I've had a few of them lately), and I'm neglecting a number of real life things as well.
