A direct dynamic coupled calculation was performed to determine the critical speed of manifestation of aerodynamic instability. The results obtained were compared with the results of engineering estimates presented in [40]. This example shows that to solve such problems it is possible to use the lighter des turbulence model instead of the les turbulence model and, therefore, a coarser mesh. In contrast to existing engineering techniques, direct numerical modeling of the interaction between the structure and the air flow allows one to take into account the reverse effect of the structure on the flow, as well as the mutual influence of several types ofaerodynamic instability.

General information about computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and its development prospects is presented. The main advantages and disadvantages of numerical simulation compared with tests in wind tunnels (wind tunnel tests) are considered. Besides, information about the second modification of corresponding Russian design codes (SP 20.13330.2016 “SNiP 2.01.07-85* Loads and effects”) is provided. Prospects for the further development of numerical modelling and its applications for solution of problems of construction aerodynamics are given.

A verification example of the wind flow simulation around and through a porous object is considered in order to select correct permeability parameters of the computational model of green spaces. The methodology of pedestrian comfort estimation is tested on the example of a real residential complex in Moscow. The results of the numerical simulation of velocity fields are used to calculate the criteria for pedestrian comfort specified in MDS 20-1.2006. Numerical results are obtained and compared for two study cases - without and with green spaces (bushes),to assess their impact on pedestrian comfort and the possibility of its adjustment.

Corresponding complex coupled problems of continuum mechanics were solved with the use of contemporary methods and models of numerical modeling (nonlinear models, coupled problems, substructures, submodeling, etc.), implemented in verified software complexes. Some of these results are briefly considered and analyzed. Conclusions about the main directions of further research and development are presented as well.

Object of interest is a thin plate. This is an important aspect of the design of large-span structures, bridges and other structures sensitive to wind loads. As Russian standards and Eurocode obliges to check the conditions for the occurrence of galloping, divergence and flutter for a certain class of structures. Modern computing facilities allow to calculate aerodynamic coefficients with high accuracy.

During the calculations fluid structure interaction (FSI) problems are taken into account. The numerical simulations are performed for both linear (Lagrangian formulation-ANSYS Mechanical) and nonlinear (arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation-ABAQUS/Explicit) conditions. Problem formulation, finite element discretization, simultaneous and partitioned solution procedures are discussed. As an example designed and/or already erected oil tank are considered. The results obtained are compared with an analytical solution and domestic code technique.
