Udinese lose new striker Brenner to long injury (original) (raw)
Udinese have confirmed that new striker Brenner will be out of action for months after suffering a serious thigh injury.
The 23-year-old Brazilian striker joined the Friulian outfit from FC Cincinnati at the start of the summer in a deal worth around €10m, giving them an immediate replacement for Beto, who was sold to Everton for circa €30m.
Brenner was not included in Udinese’s squad for either of their opening two Serie A matches against Juventus and Salernitana, raising some eyebrows amongst supporters.
As confirmed by Udinese today, Brenner will be sidelined for at last four months after undergoing an operation today on his right thigh to repair his rectus femoris tendon, which was a success.
It’s an unfortunate absence for the Bianconeri, although one they’ve prepared for considering the last-minute addition of Aston Villa’s Keinan Davis to the squad.
Udinese have only picked up one point from their first two games of the season and will be hoping for their first victory against Frosinone in their third outing.
Udinese Calcio comunica che Brenner si è sottoposto ad intervento chirurgico per la sutura tendinea del retto femorale della coscia destra.
L’intervento è perfettamente riuscito.
