PUBLIC DISCLOSURE NEEDED ON SENEGALO-GAMBIAN SUMMIT – Foroyaa Newspaper (original) (raw)

Diplomacy requires three pillars.

Pillar 1 deals with start-to-state matters.

Pillar 2 deals with state to people affairs.

Pillar 3 deals with people to people matters.

Before a summit is held sufficient information should be disclosed that enables the citizenry of both countries to take ownership of the process. It is fair to say that few Gambians and Senegalese are exposed to all the agreements that have been signed so far and the implementation taken for their operationalization.

It is anticipated that the two states would involve the media to give more coverage to summits. It is further envisaged that agreements will be brought to the National Assembly for ratification. This would enhance both oversight and public awareness of any development enveloping the agreement. Nonetheless, Foroyaa will endeavour to get more information from the foreign ministry for dissemination to the public.
