Furyo (original) (raw)

The 1983 film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence is known in Japanese
as both Senjou no Merii Kurisumasu and Furyo .

Per Wiki, here is the title in Japanese:
戦場のメリークリスマス

Please explain. Thanks.

As for 戦場のメリークリスマス, I suppose a good literal translation would be: "A Merry Christmas on the Battlefield."

Furyo, or 俘虜, means "captive; prisoner of war."

What exactly would you like explained?

That's a perfect explanation, Starfrown. Thank you.
