These economies are at a different level of transformation, and their governments are trying to support the development of a knowledge-based economy, the creation of innovation systems, and collaboration among different types of entities. These governments need feedback in the form of research into the impacts of public funding on innovation activities through the influence of basic research and cooperation-based resources in individual countries. Purpose of the article: This paper focuses on the examination of (i) the influence of national and European subsidies on innovation performance in manufacturing firms in the Czech Republic and (ii) impacts of knowledge- and cooperation-based resources on innovation activities in Czech manufacturing. Business management should be able to define determinants that fundamentally influence the innovation activity of business. Innovation leaders are influenced by the same set of determinants that allow them to maintain their position in the market. Identifying these determinants is a key source of knowledge for defining or adjusting corporate strategies, enabling sustainable benefits and for efficient building and functioning of countries’ innovation ecosystems based on cross-agents’ interactions leading to sustainable development. The goal of this paper is to identify the combination of innovation determinants in Dynamic Innovation Strategic Model (DISM) driving creation and sustaining innovation leaders’ competitive advantage in selected European countries belonging to the group of moderate innovator...

This change requires a specific corporate culture that supports the effective operation of performance measurement and management. This paper aims to clarify the relationship between corporate culture and performance measurement and management systems. Questionnaire survey data from Czech medium and large companies were collected and analyzed by Pearson’s chi-squared test to validate the proposed hypothesis. The research findings confirmed that performance measurement and management systems of companies that devoted sufficient energy and attention to performance-driven culture are more effectively developed. Analysis of different performance-driven culture attributes revealed which are the most important ones.

Specifically, the literature review was conducted with the goal to searching papers and case studies that are directly or indirectly concerned with performance measurement systems or models. Based on different background, characteristics and premises, comprehensive view on strengths and weaknesses of each system in the aspect of performance measurement is provided. The performed analysis presents that every conceptual performance measurement system has a clear theoretical background, but seldom provides detailed guidance on how a company should design its unique model. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research focused on fulfillment of the company specific measurement needs, particularly at the operational level.

An effectively functioning performance management process has become the key to success in today'... more An effectively functioning performance management process has become the key to success in today's tough competitive environment. It is necessary to have comprehensive knowledge of new approaches to performance measurement in order to create and implement such a process. The main aim of this paper is to contribute toward building on such knowledge by designing a performance measurement and management process diagram. To fulfill this goal, the features of a performance measurement system have been determined based on research in the literature; additionally, key elements that are necessary for a comprehensive process of performance management have been defined using case study analysis. The diagram also identifies critical elements of contemporary performance management process related to the provision of balanced performance indicators and their subsequent incorporation in strategic planning. The findings show that competitive-related performance aspects such as innovation, core competencies, and employee engagement are not sufficiently integrated in performance measurement.

There is no agreed viewpoint for an ideal performance measurement framework in literature, though many holistic systems have been developed. Within this context, presented paper focuses on investigation of the features, characteristics and roles of performance measurement systems in Czech large size manufacturing companies from two points of view. First is to identify and analyze the current form of performance management in selected companies. Second is to determine the features that have to be met in the future to design effective PMS. At this point it is necessary to emphasize that the main discussion is given to Czech large size manufacturing companies from both points of view. In order to fulfil these objectives, a method of case studies analysis is used.
