friendlygeeks - Profile (original) (raw)

on 7 September 2004 (#4461044)

This is a community for friendly geeks. All are welcome provided they observe the following rules. Breaking any one of them will be a banning offence.

  1. No hurtful/harmful comments about people's interests or sexuality (including using 'that's so gay' as an insult - it's immature and extremely irritating)

  2. Furries, Homosexuals, Bisexuals, Bicurious, Heterosexuals, Monogamous and Polyamourous people are all equally welcome but please, leave your sex lives at home.

  3. Leave your prejudice at the door please. Bigots of any sort are not welcome here.

  4. Your opinion is your opinion. Not a fact. You are welcome to it, but other people will no doubt disagree. Deal with it. Flame wars are for 5 years olds and the socially inept. They are not welcome here, and any flame bating posts will be removed. Learn to tell the difference between opinion and fact. There is one, despite what you might have heard in other forums.

  5. No snobbery. No rank pulling. No harrasment. Look at the title - friendly geeks, not obnoxious geeks.

Welcome topics for discussion:

Science Fiction, Fantasy, Cult (TV, movies, literature, radio adventures)
Spoiler warnings required - please use lj cuts when discussing plot.

All RPGs and their spin off literature

Graphic Novels and Comic Books

Conventions, meets and conferences.

All forms and practitioners of Magic: Wiccans (both coven and solitary - initiated and un-initiated are welcome), Heathens, Druids, Shaman, Chaos Magicians and any other practitioners I haven't remembered and already listed.
(However, if I catch anyone spell begging, advertising covens or charging people for spells/initiation, you will be warned once, and the second time you will be banned. Other communities may allow this type of behaviour. This one does not)

Rock/Alternative/Indie music - there are plenty of other forums for hip hop, r'n'b and pop - if that rocks your boat, go find one of them.

PS If you want to discuss computer games, I recommend the Geek Culture Community instead. They have some pretty good discussions about all sorts of games.
