Backyard Carnival Games for Kids: Sticky Tic Tac Toe - Frugal Fun For Boys and Girls (original) (raw)

This week, I’ll be sharing Backyard Carnival games here at Frugal Fun for Boys! (And you all know that I don’t mean Frugal Fun for *only* boys, right? Just like to clarify that every now and then.) These games will be things that you can do at home for a family fun night, or even use at your child’s school carnival. I don’t know if this happens where you live, but every elementary school in our area seems to have some sort of fall carnival with games and prizes.

Today’s game is Sticky Tic Tac Toe! Here’s a fun carnival game that is super simple to put together. Toss ping pong balls at the tic tac toe board and they stick.

The great thing about this game is that it works well for a large range of ages.

To make this game you will need:

Cover your foam board with felt. I used six strips and trimmed off the excess.

Then make the tic tac toe design with duct tape. SUPER EASY.

Cut the peel and stick velcro into small pieces and stick velcro to each side of the ping pong balls.

And you’re ready to play! We played this as a single person challenge rather than one player against another. Each player gets 3 balls to throw. The object of the game is to get three balls in a row on the game board.

For younger kids: Give them 4 or 5 balls so that they have more chances to get three in a row.

For older kids: Make it a two player game! Use colored ping pong balls (if you can find them) so that each player has their own color. Or use Sharpie markers in different colors to label the balls for each player. Then have players take turns tossing their balls just like it were a pencil and paper game of tic tac toe.
