Globally, PV panels have been widely used as a renewable energy technology. In order to obtain more solar irradiance and improve electricity output, this study presents an advanced strategy of a reflector combining PV panels mounted on a building in Calgary, Canada. Based on an experimental database of solar irradiances, the simulation presents an optimal shape designed and tilt angles of the reflector and consequently improves solar radiation gain and electricity outputs. Polished aluminum is selected as the reflector material, and the shape and angle are designed to minimize the interruption of direct solar radiation. The numerical approach demonstrates the improvement in performance using a PV panel tilted at 30°, 45°, 60°, and 75° and a reflector, tilted at 15.5° or allowed to be tilted flexibly. A reflector tilted at 15.5° can improve solar r...

These responses to repetitive stress could be blocked by naloxone, corticosteroids and glycyrrhizic acid (GCA). The effect of corticosteroids and GCA on the hypothalamic CRF containing neurons with repetitive stress has not been studied. Sprague-Dawley rats were given either dexamethasone (DEX), deoxycorticosterone (DOC) or GCA. On the eleventh day of treatment, the rats were exposed to two hours of immobilization stress and the procedure was repeated daily for another twelve days. The rats were sacrificed on days 2, 4, 8 and 12 after immobilization. On the days of sacrifice, the rats were transfused transcardially and the hypothalami were dissected for immunohistochemical analysis. With repetitive stress, the number of CRF containing neurons decreased significantly from 1631 ± 58 neurons/ mm 2 to 595 ± 71 neurons/mm 2 (p<0.0005) on second exposure to stress and gradually ...

Nutritional status, blood pressure, lipid profiles, fasting blood glucose (FBG), vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) levels and lipid peroxidation product (malonaldehyde) levels were taken as indicators of health status. This is a pre-and post-controlled community trial in which similar variables were measured in each group. Every family of 2-6 household members was given 2-5 kg cooking palm oil per month for a period of 18 months. All subjects were measured for height (cm), weight (kg) and waist-hip ratio (WHR). For calorie intake measurement, house-to-house interviews were conducted using 24-hour dietary recall method. Blood pressure, percent body fat, lipid profiles, namely total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride and fasting b...
