The descriptive research design, stratified sampling technique, a researcher's made questionnaire are the research methodology used, also coefficient correlation is used to measure the significant relationship between recruitment process and recruitment management system. The results of this study revealed that there is no significant relationship between the variablerecruitment and selection process and the variable-effectiveness of recruitment management system. Furthermore, the recruitment and selection processes are assessed to be generally efficient. There are several recommendations that are concluded as a result of the conclusion of this study which is divided among the level of efficiency of recruitment and selection process, the level of effectiveness of recruitment management system, and the relationship between recruitment and selection process and recruitment management system. A replication of this study is recommended to further disclose if the recruitment processes have bearing with effective recruitment management system.

This topic is always debatable if not leads to a different level of arguments or discussions. Whether it is male or female who dominates in an organization, it is very important for us to ask the questions" Who lead us to a more efficient way?" This research case study uncovers the realities of life on how leaders make a difference in their organization.

The descriptive research design was utilized. The random sampling method was employed to determine the number of respondents. The researcher's made questionnaires were used as the data gathering instruments. The weighted mean and Pearson correlation coefficient were used as the statistical tools in this study. The researcher found that the FIA's material and non-material reward mechanisms are "average". The material reward mechanisms that are found out to be average are compensation and benefits; while non-material mechanisms are recognition and appreciation. The level of employees' performance is also found as "average". It is disclosed that there is a significant relationship between reward mechanisms and FIA employees' performance. It is concluded that reward mechanisms serves as potential motivating variables to improve employees' performance. The variables of reward mechanisms tested in this study can be used by other organizations to motivate their employees toward improving their productivity. Similar studies can be done to validate the importance of reward mechanisms variables and their roles toward improving employees' performance.

Design/methodology/approach -Using a sample of 220 respondents from 15 United Arab Emirates (UAE) universities and colleges, results of regression analysis and confirmatory structural equation modeling show that all of the hypothesized causal relationships in the Baldrige model are statistically significant. Findings -A comprehensive "measurement model" grounded in the Baldrige Performance Excellence in Education Criteria for the 33 items of measurement is developed, tested, and found to be valid and reliable. Leadership is identified as a driver for all components in the Baldrige System, including measurement, analysis and knowledge management, strategic planning, faculty and staff focus and process management. All Baldrige components (categories) are significantly linked with organizational outcomes as represented by the two categories of organizational performance results and student, stakeholder and market focus. The paper also tests the statistical fit of the only Baldrige model dealing with higher education, which was published in 1998 by Winn and Cameron.

In this article, the authors describe unique features and challenges of this multi-year University/Government collaboration which is aligned with the mission and goals of NAITTE and provide an overview of workforce education initiatives the partnership seeks to refine. This manuscript can serve as a possible model and catalyst for further discussion and research in workforce education particularly in times of dwindling resources, increased demands on time and the importance of research activities at many institutions.

Research paper thumbnail of Common purpose and divided loyalties: the risks and rewards of cross-sector collaboration for academic and government researchers

As a result, new and unfamiliar forms of organisational arrangements for research are emerging within universities and elsewhere. These collaborative research centres have been variously termed ‘hybrid’ or ‘parasitic’. This paper draws upon around 30 in-depth interviews with participants from selected Australian Cooperative Research Centres (CRC). It examines how researchers reconcile the many demands of their dual role, first, as a government researcher or academic, and second as a committed participant in an industry-collaborative research centre. These collaborations go beyond ‘applied research’ to span fundamental research and immediately useful knowledge. But reward systems and performance measures for academic researchers are still founded largely on ‘discovery’, while those for government researchers are based upon ‘application’. The risk is that researchers will be deflected by the collaboration in ways that conflict with their institutional responsibilities. The paper reports work analysing the management strategies used by the CRCs and their public sector partners to ensure that their common goals are achieved while preserving their institutional interests and the expectations of their research staff. The aim is to identify effective ways of managing the various ‘risks’ of cross-sector collaborative research and development (R&D) in Australia and more widely.

Patterns of decision making were described at six institutions in one study and perceived legitimacy of governance on the part of faculty was assessed on the same campuses. The findings of the studies are related for the purpose of exploring effects of decision issue, institution, and type of institution upon each pattern as well as upon ways in which governance patterns and perceived legitimacy covary. The conclusions suggest modifications in theory and research strategies for future work on the dynamics of campus governance.

As the input of the system, the perspectives of the students on those variables also influence the direction and the quality of the education taking place in the colleges of education. Regarding this, the purpose of the present study is to identify and compare the perspectives of fourth-year English Language Teaching students on the physical environment, human resources, and the program of three ELT departments at three different state universities. As part of the survey research design, the questionnaire was administered to totally 278 prospective English Teachers from the ELT departments at state universities in Ankara. The results of the study, unlike the past research on the issue, presented that the prospective English teachers had positive views on the instructors and program generally; however, they stated problems on the physical environment of their departments. Moreover, there were significant differences in students’ views on the physical environment, resources, and its sub-dimensions. The students from the institution, which was renovated before the study, had more positive views on their department than the others. The results suggested it might be useful to reevaluate and reconsider the current conditions of the English language teacher education in relation to the departments’ human resources, program and especially the physical environment.

These are usually English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses. Who, what and how much to teach, however, depends on the individual university. At Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), all undergraduates have to take two semesters of English. The first course that students have to take is an EAP (English for Academic Purposes) course that is relevant to his/her faculty. The EAP course aims to equip students with the necessary academic studying skills in English so that they can cope with their studies as the science and technology courses are now conducted in English and the majority of the reference materials are still found only in English. A study to find out the teachers' perception of the EAP courses was carried out to find out the challenges faced by them in developing academic competency. Data were obtained from a questionnaire distributed to the instructors teaching the course and through focus group discussions with them. The researchers also examined the course files and reference books in order to better understand the courses, and to explain and substantiate some of the claims made by the instructors. The findings revealed that the teachers were more satisfied with the commercially prepared texts used to teach the Art students than the materials designed by the ESL instructors used to teach the Science students. With regard to assessment, the teachers' main concern was that it was being used to drive teaching and learning leading them to adopt a 'touch and go' approach to teaching. Also, there appeared to be a mismatch between instructions and assessments in some courses. This seemed to stream from a lack of understanding of the basic principles of testing and formative assessment.
