We arrived 2 hours early and just hung out.. and were of course the first people in there.. ended up being about 2 feet from the little stage. The band was all very excited to be there for the first time.. and extremely gracious and kind, and perhaps a bit taken off guard that my boyfriend and I recognized their faces. I assume that most people haven't really seen who is who because I'm under the impression that they don't tour that much, going off of what Jason said. We had a conversation with Rachel, Jason, and Christian, and one of the cellists from Invert (exciting!). Invert opened and played 2 songs with Rachel's and they were absolutely great as well. The video Rachel's played along with the set was really cool. The only thing I'm disappointed about was that they played nothing from Egon! But all in all it was such an experience.. and in such an intimate venue. I truly hope they come back, and I believe they will because they seemed to really enjoy themselves and the audience was extremely appreciative and responsive (looooong looooong pauses to clap). sweet limited edition posters that they were giving out for free.. the ink they used is so strong and nauseating**( more pictures from the showCollapse )** |

01:33 pm*wave*i'm a touch of a n00b, but...found out about rachel's thru their collaboration with Matmos. first listened to them on a bootleg and fell ini love with Lloyd's Register. bought Sea and Bells. went to see them on March 12th in Madison, WI (contrary to what the tour dates list said, the show was at the Orpheum Stage Door. i taped the show (it was wonderful! - listen to my recording of Lloyd's Register), and listening to song samples from amazon.com to get titles encouraged me to buy Systems/Layers yestiddy.*phew*i guess that's it for now. if anybody else here trades bootlegs, lemme know! |

04:27 pmhey i saw rachel's live on friday!!! they were pretty fantastic. the only songs i remember them playing specifically were even/odd, water from the same source, and a french gallease. i was really excited, and they were way more powerful than i was expecting. i dont think ive ever been to a concert where everyone was so quiet. the film they were showing was cool too, although i couldnt really see it since i was standing under the screen.anyways, for as excellent as the cds are, they were so much better live.hope all your weekends were fantastic :) |

12:31 amRachel's was fantastic. I was surprised that they were so informal live, though. I was expecting the whole set to be segued together, no breaks, no talking to the audience. Contrarily, there were few segues and plenty of talking.They opened with Anytime Soon, Arterial, and a song or two from ...Egon Schiele. They then played a set with the full band, starting with even/odd, several of the filler tracks from Systems/Layers, Water From the Same Source, A French Gallease, one that I think was new, a few others I don't remember, and Lloyd's Register from The Sea and the Bells, which was fantastic live, way better than on the record. Very powerful. I don't remember what the closer was.The UM Art Museum has terrible acoustics, but the ambience was nice, regardless; very intimate.All in all, a great show.Current Music: Rachel's - Lloyd's Register |
