Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had helpful suggestions about this dilemma. I got a peace lily plant from my boyfriend. when I got it, it had a few white flowers on it, which I just cut off. In the last month however, it has started flowering a LOT. I am unwilling to deface this plant any further, since it has shown a lot of tenacity and I attach a great deal of sentimental value to it. Can someone please explain what I am supposed to do with this plant? I can't really come around to the fact that having a defaced plant in my office would really improve the feng shui, and frankly if it werent for my chinese upbringing i would really love the white flowers. could there be ANY LOOPHOLE in the white flower rule that allows me to keep this plant without defacing it further????help =( PS i've started making red marks on the flowers with a marker. this has not particularly improved the look of hte plant.PPS You're going to think i'm nuts. New apartment. Okay so, I have my own new place and I want to make it ideal.I'm 20 years old born on July 13th of 86 at 3:30pm. The place is in the heart of downtown facing the river and its very old, over a hundred years old. Its on the 3rd floor, and the floors are dark reddish black stone. There are two windows, one looks out into the hallway of the apartment and the other is six inches from a stone wall.Here is a drawing. Any ideas? (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

update on apt fix Thanks  silvertipwings for suggesting I look at setting up the BaGua for my new apartment by the direction it faces/sits rather than where the front door is located. I found out some interesting things.1. My apartment is situated almost exactly the same way whether you set it up by direction or door placement. I have a Li house, faces north, sits south. Almost all the different situations on the BaGua correspond to the situations placed by front door placement. Oh well. instead of love/relationships in my bathroom it becomes heavenly doctor. There will be much adjusting in the bathroom to protect the chi.2. My apartment is ideal for my personal kua (this was something I only figured out today during my researching) from my birth. My four most auspicious placements for my life are the same for the directional facing of my new home. This can be very great, except my fiance is a western facing kua while I'm eastern. So we are opposed in all our auspicious rooms of the apartment. Again, much chi adjusting will be done to suit this. 3. Interestingly enough, my kua and apartment are also auspicious with my place in my family. I am the eldest daughter and am therefore suited in the southeast.Perhaps letting it be might be what's needed but a little pre-emptive work couldn't hurt (stitch in time, ounce of prevention, and all that).x-posted in personal journal Current Mood:  impressed (1 Comment |Comment on this) |

new apartment HELP Hi, am new to this community but had some successes using feng shui to tweak my last apartment. Now I am moving and need some advice on the new bagua. Note about me, I have always been open to spirituality but was never really into Eastern philosophies and traditions (except maybe if you count the "fortune cookie" which you really can't because it was invented in California).( The old apartment and the good newsCollapse ) Things didn't totally work out and I am moving back to my home-town. I didn't have much choice over the apartment I'm moving to. My grandmother helped me find it, and I like the community very much, but it was the price I couldn't pass up. My fiance will move in to this apartment after we're married in March (I'm locked into a year lease).( issues with the new placeCollapse ) Any ideas for fixing the bad bathroom situation? corner pointing at bed I've just moved into a new, small area and I have an unfortunate problem of the corner of my desk pointing towards the right corner of my bed. unfortunately I can't really change the positioning due to the size of the room and the furniture. I'm wondering if I might be able to put a mirror or something on the wall behind the bed to reflect the poison arrow? it only crosses over a small portion of the bed but it makes me a bit uneasy.it looks something like this: any help is appreciated :) thanks! new fengshui alternatives... ...due to the disappointingly repeated habit here of people picking on each others' views in replies about 'this school is no good' or 'this one is the only real one' etc., and not offering actual help, I started two new communities where people could focus on their own areas of interest:  popularfengshui and oldfengshui. I was offered the chance to take over this group, but it seems so unproductive the last year or so that I feel these new ones might have more focus and good feeling. Obviously, people are interested in the subject in order to benefit themselves and others, and I really find it unhelpful to just tell people they're somehow wrong when they are simply trying to learn, and it was disappointing to see that happen too often in replies over the last year or more...So, feel free to join either or both, and know that condemning either view will not be tolerated in these new groups. I know people who have had great success with both schools, and so I think it's just a preference thing, as opposed to a 'this one is terrible' versus 'this view is supreme' sort of thing...thanks! A little advice...? I was just wondering if anyone is able to give me some advice.( Under this cut is a floorplan of my bedroom.Collapse )The problem is, the feng shui of this room is terribly wrong and I'm suffering in a lot of areas in my life because of it. The first thing I plan to do is move the bed along the top wall, rather than facing the door as it is now (which is supposed to be bad positioning) and I want to move the computer desk either down into the south east corner (bottom right) or against the middle of the south west wall (middle left). I do like having my computer in the creativity gua though.Any advice on anything else I should do? It's a very tiny room as you can see, and I really want to fix it up according to feng shui principles.By the way, the element I was born under is earth (and the time of the day I was worn was under metal). I was born Dec 29 1975. I'm going to have some sticker address labels made and I could use some help deciding. It's for my mail-order business (I distribute anime in cd media). But since it's summer here I thought something from the sea would be refreshing. On the other hand, one of the pics look just like our adorable old cat. And yet on another hand, maybe a pair of something would be nice, like bunnies. I would have opted for the chinese character of properity but the gold lettering comes out a bit like green.Thanks. Hi. I'm not looking to change my life or become a feng shui master, but the guidelines; particularly concerning clutter (my worst enemy!) and the idea of creating areas dedicated to life aspects (since I am bad at keeping grounded in certain areas of my life, and tend to overcompartmentalise) really appeal to me.That said, I'm moving into a new apartment, and was hoping to draw something from this practice of establishing my self in a space that is all mine (it is my first time I will ever be living alone, without roommates or family or in a dorm room single...yeay my own bathroom!).The layout of my apartment is quite strange, though, and I'm having a really hard time because of the placement of my front door. I am sort of excited that, if I only arrange the bedroom according to these principles, my rough idea put my desk in the career area, my bookshelves in knowledge, and my bed in love.( but I am utterly flummoxed by the front door.Collapse )there is a "window"-ish opening in the wall between the living room and kitchen, and the bedroom is in the corner of the building, with windows on two walls. The window opposite the bedroom door leads out onto the fire escape. It's in an apartment building, and I believe the entry to the apt. is in rough alignment to the building entrance (you enter both doors from the west, I think). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. There is also a small alcove directly opposite the front door before the hallway makes that horrible sharp turn. It's about four inches deep, maybe a foot-and-a-half square, three or four feet from the ground, like a tiny niche or shelve, too narrow for books, and serving no seeming purpose. clocks Hi, I am new here and was wondering what Feng Shui has to say about wind up clocks. I sort of collect them. I know clock radios are a no-no in certain areas, but so far I haven't found any reference to where 'real' clocks ought to be, if anywhere, in ones house.I have just recently taken one round alarm clock out of the bedroom, because it well, annoyed me, and find that I am sleeping much better. S.O.S I think that I've become trapped by my own feng shui. I've seen good things and bad happen with shui. So, I'm in this "relationship" that is quite fragile, it can go either way. Help with Kanji/Hanzi in South area... I'm a total novice when it comes to feng shui, but I was hoping that I might stumble upon some wise advice.I have two corkboards that I will be putting up on my south wall of my livingroom area. I plan to mask off appropriate kanji and spray paint the negative area black, letting the kanji show the natural tan of the cork.I'm sure I could easily use something like 'happiness' or 'peace' but I do not know the subtleties of feng shui to be sure that would be the most beneficial to balance the area.This is a typical apartment layout, with the livingroom and dining room open to each other, the kitchen coming off from the dining room, and a hallway leading back to the storage area, bedroom, and bathroom.The main door opens to the livingroom and diningroom, from the east. The eastern wall for the livingroom has a golden fan with peacock and peahen on it. This is also where I sometimes place the serving tray for when I entertain guests while watching a movie or video game, if the tv is in the livingroom. The southern wall faces the parking lot and a hill with pine trees. This is where the patio door is, as well as where I am wanting to put the corkboards. The northern wall is within the dining area and has a white fan with peacock and peahen on it, as well as a baker's rack. The western wall is within the livingroom area and has a X-framed shelving unit with various knicknacks, including a miniature samurai helmet, as well as a fountain. To the right of this unit is a coffee table which sometimes props up a small tv (which normally stays in the bedroom. It can take away some of the ambiance of the room). Inbetween the unit and the coffeetable is a ceramic sculpture of the four directional gods on a mountain.To note, I do sometimes toss my futon on the floor of this room and sleep in it (versus the bedroom), depending on my mood in sprawling out or not. :) Current Mood:  curious (Comment on this) |

new member with questions My husband and I are getting a new house built and I have some concerns about placement of certain rooms, etc. We have no input into the floor plan because it's coming to us through a grant - (1) The bedroom is going to be in the Helpful People/Travel area and it's my understand that the colors for this area are black/white/gray. I wasn't real happy about this but - anyway - I suggested red accents and then learned that both red and black are no-no's for bedrooms.(2) There will be both a door and a window in the Prosperity corner and I'm concerned about loss of chi here. (3) The foyer and the bathroom are both located in the career area. Supposedly color for that area is black but I'm really NOT thrilled about having a black bathroom. Ugh.Do you have any suggestions for me?I would appreciate your help so much because any/all practitioners I've contacted online all want to SELL me the information and since my husband is on disability and I only work part-time, we can't really afford to spend lots of on this.
