_3:08 pm_[strawfellow] Funtime Comics Presents #21: Jurassic Jam Out Now! Funtime Comics Presents #21: Jurassic Jam has rolled off the presses and is making its way to distributors and shops right now.Working as part of a collective can be rewarding and frustrating by equal turns. Putting this issue together has taken longer than expected, mainly because real life got in the way. Other commitments mean contributors have been delayed, and the state of the Funtime bank account meant we were in no rush to spend money we did not have, but after a round of fundraising that included a garage sale with sausage sizzle we reached our target.21 is a nice number to see on the cover of our comic. Through all these issues we have been caring and nurturing our anthology. It has had its wild moments where it ‘kicked against the pricks’ in an obvious, perhaps even crude fashion, but it has learnt some discipline. It is certainly not going to become respectable, but it has grown more confident in its own nature. An important aspect of our anthology is the group dynamics that fuel it. The jam comic is a essential part of any Funtime comics comic drawing workshop. When two or more of us sit around a table it isn’t too long before a blank grid is drawn up and starts moving around the table. There is a certain amount of pleasure to be had in seeing the ideas that flow, the characters that develop, whether a plot will form one panel at a time, how oblique the references will be... it’s a creative, rewarding pastime, and we can’t get enough of it.Containing the work of comic creators from New Zealand and overseas, this issue once again reflects the Funtime collective's eclectic approach to the comic medium. From Science Fiction epic to political commentary, the comics tell a myriad of stories of New Zealand as well as the wider world, tapping into the creative talents of small press creators, national and international. Contributiors to this issue come from The United States of America, Italy, Macedonia, and of course New Zealand.CreditsEditor: Darren SchroederCover Design: Jason LennieContributors: Aaron Dann, Allen Trembone, Andrew Kepple, Beppi Knott, Bob Gibbons, Brent Willis, Carlos Wedde, Claudio Parentela, Debra Boyask, Diego Gabriele, Isaac Freeman, Jared Lane, Jason Lennie, Jason Winter, Lily Boyask, Luke McCrea, Mary Knott, Matt Tylianakis, Matthew Rasch, Murray Crosbee, Peter Johnstone, R. _2:11 pm_[badasstronaut] THANK YOU Thank you, Funtime, for the lovely postcard. I recognise me [nice flattering picture of me, thankyou], Isaac, Tony, Darren, & Ruth. I can tell Jason is Jason because Jason is written inside the frame. I suspect the last panel is Matt, but it's hard to tell because it has a nose. I can't tell who the wee tomato head person is or the one with eyes in the hat who's hiding from KrabTron. Thanks for thinking of me though. (Comment on this)
