Kati made a new friend... I went to see Garbage last night, and my gay husband Paulen brings along his nice friend Brian. Paulen says, "You'll love Brian - he coaches color guard too!" We get along fabulously of course and, after extensive conversation, I find out that this guy is NOT just another guard coach. He works with Interplay - an Independent Open guard who took first place this year in the WGI finals (Megan - remember at that instructor's clinic? That guard that was planning a show for doing "The Rose"? That's them). He also is one of the founding members of Blast and will be touring with the show again starting in August.

He says, "If you want me to do a clinic or something with your kids during the summer before I leave, just let me know. Call me - we'll set something up."

Megan - I'm also going to hit him up for some show-writing ideas for winter guard. We need to take him out to lunch or something and have a brainstorming session!

Yay. I like making new friends. :-)

Also, if anyone is going anywhere during the month of May, please let me know because I am going to be trying to arrange a Winter Guard party and if you don't tell me you are going somewhere and it's scheduled at that time, then your fault! Wow, that was a huge run-on. Oh well!

Miss you guys!

Dakota Wow. What a night for you guys. You performed very well as a group, and I couldn't be happier with the individual performances. For those of you that left early, let me recap:

We came in 6th with a 63.5

Now, I know what you're thinking: Why did our score go down? Honestly, I don't know. Different judges, different opinions, who knows? The highest score was a 69 something, so we were right up there with them, and I still say your performance was awesome. Don't let them get you down.

Now, for the solos:

Amanda M. came in 1st for flag - Holy crap!
Laurie came in first for rifle - HOLY CRAP!
Eric came in second for rifle (and had all the women screaming like crazy)
Stephanie came in second for sabre (I can't believe she did the booty slap)

I want to know how Crystal placed. She just had to place somewhere near the top - she performed so well. Perhaps it'll get on the MCGC website this week... I'll get back to you.

All in all, a good night. After getting home at 1 a.m., I passed out with a smile on my face. :-)

I think someone should give me the password to this journal so I can make it look cool because it's so boring...argh.

Kati and Megan - don't be surprised if Mark doesn't come on Monday, he's really sick. He attempted to go to the school dance with me today and he had to leave, that's how bad he felt. So I'm just letting you know that he didn't quit, he is just still sick.

Kati!

I know I just called you not too long ago, but I'm really freaking out about this! Let me know if I can still send in money for the individuals. I can't get the application to download on my computer! Could you do it for me?! I heard you did it for Stephanie and Eric. I know this is REALLY late notice. But, let me know, please. Oh, and I will pay you back.

Hey you peoples wanting to do individuals:

You gotta have that form and a $7 check in the mail by Tuesday. That's the day after tomorrow. If you haven't done it already, you'd better get on that.

See y'all tomorrow. Don't forget - weapons at 6:00. Flags at 7:00 (or better yet, let's say 6:30 so SOME of you actually make it there by 7:00!).

I hope everyone has had a nice restful Sunday. Just thought I'd post a couple things on here for you to read...

First and foremost, excellent job at Field Day. You've all worked very hard, and it looks like it's finally paying off. We do need to perfect some things, so be prepared for some drilling and nitpicking this week. Whee…

Next: I'm trying to find another competition for us to do, but I'm having trouble finding a Saturday that won't conflict with another Fraser event, such as the spring play, solo and ensemble, Snow Ball, etc. So, here's some possible dates. Pick out a couple that you think will NOT conflict with any major events.

• 02-12-05 Linden
• 02-26-05 Livonia Franklin
• 03-05-05 WGI Preview @ Montrose HS
• 03-20-05 Southgate Anderson (Please note that this one is on a Sunday!)

Oh, and I updated the performance schedule on the website if you need to know when/where we're going thus far.

Finally, keep selling those suckers. Man, are we in debt. Not to worry, though. I'm mailing in that form for the Silverdome today, we're working on that bowling fundraiser, and I spoke with a very nice lady at the Roseville Theatre about doing another band benefit. If you can think of anyone who would want to sponsor us, let me know.

Finally, I remember someone asking about how many Michigan A guards there are this year. I looked it up on MCGC and it looks to be exactly 20. However, that may change - I just went to look up the schedule for Ypsi this weekend, and it was temporarily unavailable, saying "Schedule being revised due to class changes". Interesting...

That's all. See you tonight. :-)
