Minamori Onna-Bugeisha of Hibangana Bakufu (Japan) by Gambargin on DeviantArt (original) (raw)

Finally, a completed drawing For all the Japanophile spirit in us!

A compilation of concept drawings of a Japanese Women Warriors or Onna Bugeisha (short of like a female samurai) as part of the Historically Wrong Sketch Series: Medieval Revisited which aims to portray Women Warriors in a fictitious historical settings based on AD 800s - AD 1400s era of warfare. The Minamori Sisters represents the Japanese faction, comparable to that of the Kamakura Period in the early days of Samurai.

After a while, redrawing the Minamori sisters from the original series has finally been achieved! All of them are based on the previous drawing as depicted here The Three Minamori Sisters by Gambargin

Ever since i started the historically wrong sketch series, I have always wanted to depict Onna-Buigeisha or Japanese Female Samurai, or whatever people chose to name them, with proper (albeit stylized) historical armour, true to the era on which they are based on. Perhaps my depiction will be different that those who are portrayed commonly by the media, more often than not, with fantasized or even objectified image of Onna-Bugeisha. Nevertheless, I suppose there won't be any harm to try something different no? :)

Hope you guys enjoy the drawings. I have included some historical commentaries for every drawing as well, so hopefully i can share my knowledge to you all :)
