Beyond its epic fights and iconic transformations, the Dragon Ball franchise is known for its plethora of impressive and unique Ki Techniques. During their many battles to save the universe, the powerful members of the Z Fighters would often rely on their control of life energy to create devastating attacks that could deal massive amounts of damage to an opponent.
While there are many examples of these techniques that have become signature to the franchise through the decades, such as the most popular and powerful attacks in anime like the Kamehameha and the Spirit Bomb, there is another set of outstandingly useful powers. These skills, known as Guided Techniques, can be used to follow a target, taking away the chance of escape. While not as common, some of these Dragon Ball attacks were exceptionally handy for the heroes.
Dragon Ball: Every Main Character’s Signature Technique
What's every Dragon Ball main character's most well-known move?
10 Twin Dragon Shot
During his battle against the tyrannical Frieza, one of the most ruthless anime villains of all time, Goku was forced to take a defensive approach, as his power was far below that of the Emperor. This led him to develop a technique in a split second that would allow him to take the enemy by surprise. Kakarot began the chant for his signature Kamehameha technique, but stopped charging the technique before the last syllable was pronounced.
Dragon Ball: 10 Strongest Members of the Frieza Force, Ranked
The Frieza Force is the most evil organization in Universe 7, so let's go over the strongest members it ever had.
This caused the energy balls to float in front of him, allowing him to shoot them at Frieza at will and use his hand to redirect their movement. Lamentably, this attack holds a massive downside, this being the limited control the user holds and the need for distance. As such, Goku would often use this technique to distract an opponent, giving him enough time to cross the distance and directly hit _Dragon Ball_’s best-ever villain.
9 Guided Rapid Fire Energy Ball
The Tournament of Power is arguably one of the best arcs in the entire Dragon Ball franchise, as it not only includes some of its most intense battles but also some of its most intriguing fighters. While not as interesting as the rest of his Peace Trooper comrades, Keetle did possess one of the best homing techniques in the series.
Dragon Ball: Why A Second Tournament Of Power Would Be The Easiest Battle For The Z- Fighters
The Tournament of Power was the greatest test for the heroes, but here's why a second one would be far too easy for them!
His Guided Rapid Fire Energy Ball attack consists of firing dozens of small but potent Ki spheres across the field. These objects can serve as mines, exploding when an opponent is near, or they can be directed by the user to approach an enemy. The biggest flaw with this attack is that it requires the user to spread their Ki immensely, making each bomb weaker and easier to deflect.
8 Double Chasing Energy Bullets
Objectively one of the most beloved anime characters of all time, as well as a member of one of the most iconic friendships of the industry, Krillin is a vital part of the Dragon Ball universe. He has often been mocked for being weaker than most other combatants, but he is still an incredibly accomplished and skillful warrior, and his Double Chasing Energy Bullets are proof.
Krillin Might Not Be Dragon Ball's Strongest Character, But He's the Best Friend Everyone Needs
Dragon Ball's Krillin is the kind of friend everyone should have in their social group. He's the sort of all-purpose bro that can round out any circle
This technique requires Krillin to charge two powerful Ki Blasts, which he will then launch at an opponent, using nothing but his concentration to keep them chasing the target. This skill is quite difficult for regular opponents to dodge, as the energy balls can move at any time. However, it does require major focus, and Krillin cannot move while using it, putting him at a disadvantage.
7 Spirit Ball
Despite having been a part of the Z Fighters since the very beginning, as well as one of Goku’s best friends, Yamcha has been the target of several jokes as he is often embarrassed by his opponents. Still, even with the large number of losses the former bandit holds, he is a true warrior whose contributions to the series cannot be underestimated, least of all his iconic Spirit Ball.
Dragon Ball: Why Yamcha Needs A Comeback
Yamcha is the definitive punching bag for the Dragon Ball world and community, but here's why he deserves a long-awaited comeback!
This technique is simple yet remarkably effective, with Yamcha focusing his energy into a condensed ball of Ki that he can launch and control with the movements of his hand. Just like Yamcha, who is among the strongest and fastest humans, this technique is impressively fast, almost guaranteed to hit a regular fighter. Lamentably, it requires Yamcha to remain static with only his hand moving, making him a sitting, living target.
6 Chasing Bullet
Before becoming one of anime’s best mentors and a good friend to the Z Fighters, Piccolo was a cruel villain who wished to avenge his father and conquer the world. As such, he developed many powerful techniques aimed at defeating Goku, such as the Chasing Bullet. This attack is similar to his iconic Special Beam Canon in the sense that it requires an extensive charging time and centering the energy in one hand.
Dragon Ball: 6 Techniques That Rival Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon
Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon is strong, but these techniques can be just as powerful.
What makes this skill special is the fact that, once launched, it can hold onto the energy signature of an opponent and follow them until it hits. It is unclear if Piccolo can actively change the direction of this technique or if the blast does it itself. What gives this attack an advantage over others, which yet again forces the user to remain still, is the fact that Piccolo can change the speed at will.
5 Bending Kamehameha
Few special techniques have become as iconic and well-known as **Dragon Ball**’s Kamehameha. As such, it is no surprise to fans that several iterations of this amazing attack have been made, with the Bending Kamehameha being one of the most versatile. This technique allows Goku to change the trajectory of his Ki blast as it chases an opponent.
Dragon Ball: 7 Most Overpowered Goku Techniques, Ranked
Now that Goku can use God Ki and has finally mastered Ultra Instinct, his most powerful techniques have become downright overpowered.
This results in one of the most useful tools Kakarot has ever held in his arsenal, as it removes the biggest weakness of the regular Kamehameha, which needs to be shot in a straight line. This skill was enough to even impress Beerus, the strongest God of Destruction, during his brief fight against Goku on King Kai’s planet.
4 Kamehameha Barrage
There are many reasons why Goku is considered one of the strongest anime characters of all time, and his creative use of Ki blasts is at the top. Kakarot is not like other fighters, who strongly adhere to a set of moves and attacks. As such, whenever he requires, Goku can alter his techniques to make them even stronger, as is the case with his top-notch Kamehameha Barrage.
Goku vs Vegeta: The Strongest User of Each Saiyan & God Form
Goku and Vegeta are walking different paths to power in Dragon Ball Super, and they’re very selective about which forms they choose to master.
This attack combined Goku’s signature technique with his Bending Kamehameha by firing several Ki blasts in a row that could travel in any direction Kakarot wished. Woefully, this skill was never used in battle, which is a major letdown, since the results were devastating for the Saiyan. It could have given the hero a massive advantage over Frieza, as it is among the best rapid-fire techniques in the franchise.
3 Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack
Bron, from the fusion of two of the strongest hybrid warriors, Gotenks, was at one time considered one of the best fusions in Dragon Ball history. His erratic battle style, desire to prove himself, and innate strength made him a threat to even the most powerful villains, such as Buu. This potential was proven via his Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, which is unlike anything else in the franchise.
Dragon Ball: All Forms of Gotenks, Explained
Gotenks is the powerful Metamoran Fusion of Goten and Trunks. Let's take a look at all of his transformations and see why they're so strong.
Gotenks would gather his Ki in the form of sentient, thinking ghost-like entities that would chase an opponent before exploding, being a perfect example of this fighter’s unique moveset. Due to them being conscious, they were able to dodge and maneuver around their target without input from their creator. Still, due to their explosive nature, they could be easily triggered to self-destruct, making them a danger to even Gotenks.
2 Death Saucer
Although best known for his overwhelming Death Ball and mastery of hand-to-hand combat, Frieza has proven over the years that he is a natural-born warrior. His arsenal holds some of the best Ki techniques in the entire series, with the Death Saucer being among the most dangerous. This attack, which holds many similarities to Krillin’s Destructo Disk, transforms the energy of the user into sharp and nimble circular blades.
Dragon Ball Super Officially Set Up the Strongest Villain in Shonen Anime History
Dragon Ball Super has set up the most powerful villain, not only in Dragon Ball, but quite possibly anime and manga history.
These weapons do not go away until they have hit a target, and Frieza has complete control over their movement. It is a technique that requires absolute concentration, as it requires the one who fires to control two disks at once. The Death Saucer is an example of how overpowered Frieza could be, as this attack proved to be deadly enough to cut through almost anything in the galaxy.
1 Evil Containment Wave
A technique that only the most skilled warriors in the universe can perform, the Evil Containment Wave is a perfect example of the wonders of Ki. This skill uses the energy of the user to create a typhoon that draws the target in, sealing them inside a vessel indefinitely. Created initially to protect the world from the return of King Piccolo, this technique has become a staple of the franchise.
It is the epitome of non-lethal attacks, as those trapped inside the vessels are kept alive until the seal keeping them inside is broken. Its only weakness is the fact that such a powerful skill requires both immense reserves of Ki and absolute mastery over energy control. Nonetheless, its strengths outweigh the weaknesses tenfold, as the technique can be used to trap even deities.
