I have a friend who is having a HUGE issue with ODST.

When you play the campaign.. the first item you find is the helmet in the video screen, when you go to pull it out you get a blue screen and disc read error. also, he can only play 2 maps of firefight without getting a disc read error.

His XBOX is from 08/06 and he has a 120 gig HD. He has had more than one copy of the game also.

We have used his disc in our xbox Manufacture date 06/06 and husband's 120 harddrive, works fine.

We have used it with my xbox from 08 and my 20 harddrive, works fine.

I have save files from Halo 3 but only offline campaign from my son who's file isnt registered on XBL.

My friend has all the info possible from Halo 3, all the maps and everything.

He deleted them, still didn't work. He downloaded teh game to his Harddrive and it still didnt work.

This is about all the info I have on the subject. He is extremely pissed to say the least. He has been reading posts over at bungie, (80 pages of complaints similar), without finding any sort of solution.

I was hoping maybe someone knows what I am talking about and has a new suggestion. Maybe even a solution.

Not to sound spoiled or anything, but even though I've both a PS3 and a Wii, and some games for both, the 360 was quite conspicuous by its absence. As I signed for it, the UPS guy asked if I were glad to get my Xbox back. I asked how he knew and he said he'd done enough such deliveries to know, and I knew better than to argue with that.

My original console, incidentally, was replaced with a different one, so when I fired it up I got all the Xbox virgin tutorials and shit, plus I had to tweak things like the resolution and the time zone, as it first thought I lived in London. Once everything was back to normal, though, I was READY to get back with it. I donwloaded the Fallout 3 and Fable II missions almost immediately, then got back to Rock Band 2 with a vengeance. Foo Fighters were never so much fun to play, especially Monkey Wrench.

As in, acing PDA by Interpol with the guitar on hard type vengeance. It's a shame there wasn't an achievement I coulda unlocked with that 1,027 note streak. But yeah, I was in a zone, enough that I managed my way through the big rock god challenge in Shanghai or where ever. Eight songs on hard-level bass that left me tired but glad that my right arm got a decent workout for a change.

Mind you, I'm still committed to finishing the storyline missions on GTA IV for the PS3 in under 30 hours for the trophy that begets, plus Fallout 3 is fixed for trophies, but come on...the 360's where my heart (and my Lego-based games) is at, so to speak. https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/38146.html?view=comments#comments relieved public munchmeyer 600712 1 https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/38136.html Sun, 25 Jan 2009 07:57:29 GMT kaaaychronic https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/38136.htmlOk so I joined a new site called TheStartScreen.com it's an amazing site about anime, mangas, video games, movies and music.

At least non yet.

Spent New Year's in Seattle with my yuppie sister and her hubby after having dragged all my shit from Portland so that they could play my Rock Band. Unfortunately, I got there in time to learn that he wanted to sing, which sucked because I had no mike, and being yuppies, they live in some God-forsaken residential area near Seattle U without any normal creature comforts in sight. Worse (and this is why I call them yuppies), they didn't know enough about gaming...hell, they know NOTHING of our noble calling, so I couldn't rely on him to pick up a USB-supported mike on his way home. Idiots. And they wondered why I only wanted to do quick play, rather than have them play on my pre-fab bands and thereby tank my stats.

Grumble. At least I enjoyed playing GTA IV on their 37" Sony yuppie TV the next morning while Mr. and Mrs. Mundane were still sleeping.

Anyway, been playing a shit-ton of Fallout 3 lately. Thanks to a sale at Jerkit City, I have it for both consoles, having just gotten the lunchbox edition for the PS3. This way I can try story paths I haven't yet done on the 360, specifically the Megaton thing. Gotta say, I love the lunchbox and bobblehead, but the so-called "making of" documentary can go eat a dick, as it has all the integrity of those stupid pre-preview shows you see at the movie theaters, where has-been, never-were and never-will-be actors try to talk up their experience making the piece of shit with a straight face. At least the last section, which detailed some of the audio processes, was worth watching.

Also got Fable II, along with the Pub Games, and used the Fortune's Tower cheat to amass a small fortune, so I might be getting into the main game sometime soon. Meantime, I need to put these silencing pads on my Rock Band drums and get cracking so I can rock out next Monday on my birthday. [/shameless plug]

I was writing up some opinions of it on a message board and decided to post them here as well.

I'm halfway through the game right now and I have very mixed feelings about it. Overall it's a good game, but some of the design decisions make it frustrating as hell. The graphics are sweet, the glaive is a pretty cool weapon, and the power-ups are spaced out so you never get too over-whelmed learning the controls (if anything, the dev's probably could have granted some of the powers sooner, but that's a pretty trivial point.)

Still, the game has some frustrating elements that seriously diminish the enjoyment level, such as:

* Infinitely re-spawning enemies. It's bad enough that many games now rely on never-ending enemies to amp up the difficulty level, but this one has you trying to solve puzzles while hordes of zombies CONSTANTLY respawn. They are easy to kill, but their sheer numbers and speed ensure that you rarely have more than a few seconds to examine your surroundings before getting assaulted yet again. Considering how vague some of the puzzles are this goes from minor annoyance to jaw-clenching anger within a few minutes. After five minutes or so of the graveyard level I found I wasn't afraid of dying so much as just angry that I didn't even have time to figure out what I needed to do. I eventually made it through, but not until I had spent several minutes debating whether or not to even continue playing.

* Melee combat. Considering the protaganist is a bad-ass special agent carrying a three-pronged boomerang I was sorely disappointed to find out hand-to-hand combat consists of "mash the 'B' button until you get a finisher move." Granted he hasn't had the weapon for long, but I figured there would be a little more variety to melee combat.

* Limited firearms. The contrivance that prevents you from using the enemy's weapons seems to serve two purposes: 1.) Make sure you have to use the glaive that the dev's are obviously so proud of, and 2.) keep you from figuring out that using guns is often easier than using the glaive. Seriously, when I'm trying to plink someone from a distance I often resort to the pistol and have a much better success ratio. Lining up shots is easier and I can throw out multiple rounds, whereas with the glaive the aiming is somewhat clumsy and it normally takes two or more hits to take down an average soldier. It's no wonder weapons are so expensive in the black market. This is emphasized even more when you realize that some of the bosses can't even be hurt by the glaive. Why throw in such an intriguing weapon and then make it useless in major battles?

* The story. Even for an action game, the story is very weak. The few cut scenes interspersed throughout the game give you little idea as to what's really going on. I think it was supposed to add mystery to the game, but it ends up making you feel as though you missed the first part of a trilogy. It doesn't affect the gameplay at all, but you certainly don't feel pulled into the game.

Though these flaws don't break the game, they bring the enjoyment level down several notches and keep it from being a truly stellar game. It's a shame, but hopefully the developers will fix some of these annoyances if a sequel ever gets made. And as I said, I'm only halfway through the game, so I'm hoping it improves as I get further along. As it stands now, this game is a good rental, but not the must-have title it should have been.

I prefer to do all my gaming on my PC but I can be caught playing on the Wii, Gamecube, Xbox 360, or the PS3. When I was little I was all about the Nintendo 64 and my Mortal Kombat games. And I still (and will always and forever) love Mortal Kombat, Sub-Zero is awesome.

I'm currently all about Left 4 Dead and Assassin's Creed right now. Just got AC a few days ago off of STEAM and haven't been able to stop playing for the most part, and when I do its normally to go do some L4D with my friends.

MMOs are also a big thing with me. My first one was WoW, I played it the first year and a half it was out then dumped it for City of Heroes/Villains. I recently cancelled my CoH account though, got too bored with the game. I also play Guild Wars from time to time, and I've done trials for a number of MMOs. I'm looking forward to DC Universe Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Guild Wars 2. Mostly SW: TOR, as I'm a huge Star Wars nerd and will play anything Star Wars related.

And that's pretty much all the gaming stuff about me I can think of at the moment!

They're 11 and 12 years old, but I can still game with them for hours without wanting to bang my head against a wall or poke my eardrums with an ice pick. It's fun to get them hooked on new games as well. Over the last few years I've gotten them into Dead Rising, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, and Crackdown. This year I introduced them to Pure (on Thanksgiving) and Left 4 Dead (on Christmas Day.)

It's good to know not all next-gen kids are gonna be total retards.

Atari 2600 Bitches!

2) Name a few games you played on said console.
Super Mario Bros., Smurfs, and Donkey Kong. Something else as well but I can't remember.

3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
3 - Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2 (first generation), and Xbox 360 Elite.

4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
Not really, and no.

5) Do you think Capcom is a F---ING awesome company with kickass character designs?
Decent company. I've seen better designs though from other companies.

6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
Get your hands washed or you're not playing. Touch that controller before you do and the greasy hand will go to some hungry person/ferocious animal looking for food.

7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG?
The only one I've played so far - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
Either or, though a 3d version of Mario isn't bad.

9) Are you an SNK fan?
What the hell is SNK?

10) Are you good at DDR?
Against someone that's not using it as a workout routine, yes :P.

11) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
Fuck yes, let me hunt my ducks in piece !

12) Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
No.

13) Do you listen to video game music?
Yes, I have video game music from all the Halo games, Gears of War 1, Medal of Honour 1, Frontline, Rising Sun, and European Assault; Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield: Bad Company, and Star Wars: Republic Commando

Old man I know lol

My gaming started back when my parents brought me a Spectrum +2. I played games like Jet Set Willy 2, Kane and Oh Mummy. I saved up my money and bought a Commodore 64c before moving on to an Amiga 500. I played some of my favorite game on that machine. Dungeon Master is one of my all time favorites along with Bloodwych. I remember having lots of long nights playing these with my brother.

I eventually upgraded my Amiga 500 to an Amiga 1200 before buying my very first PC.

I bought a Playstation when they first came out and loved playing Tomb Raider 1 & 2 and the original Resident Evil. I remember turning up the stereo system and turning out all the lights. Scared myself a couple of times lol.

I was born and raised in England, in fact I spent the first twenty nine years of my life there. I moved over to America back in 1999 and have lived here ever since. I moved here due to an Internet romance which didn't work out. During those couple of years I kept my gaming to a minimum because any purchases I made was met with the "How dare you spend money on yourself and not me" look by her. After two years of marriage we separated and divorced.

I had the pleasure to meet metal_mummy in a Yahoo chat room. We met and we moved in together, married and started a new chapter in our lives. I got myself the original Xbox and my Brother in-law introduced me to Halo.

We were living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast when Hurricane Katrina destroyed our home, we lost everything. We moved to Ellisville Mississippi and started over again. We bought a house in the same town as my wifes parents and surrounding family.

I now own a Xbox 360 Elite and a PS3. My favorite games of this generation are: Halo 3, Gears of War 1&2, Resistance 2, Assassin's Creed, Half Life 2, Portal, Bioshock, Call Of Duty series, Rainbow 6: Las Vegas 2, Star Wars Lego.

One day my wife picked up another controller and joined me for a game of Halo 3. Now she is as big a gamer as I am. In all the years of gaming the most enjoyable gaming I have had is playing with my wife.

Also I my wife and I are foster parents to two brothers. Jeremy is four and Anakin is three. Yes I still find time to game, when they go to sleep. Jeremy has taken to some games like Mad Tracks and we spend some time driving Warthogs around Sandtrap.

I'm also a magnet for most of the teenage boys in the surrounding family. "Can we spend the night and play games with you."

Sorry I rambled on there. Feel free to add my LJ if you want to. I hardly refuse anyone.

So I have to live vicariously through you guys.... https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/34674.html?view=comments#comments public sykopathicfairy 15074771 6 https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/34485.html Sat, 20 Dec 2008 09:30:57 GMT Herro! rzeznikgirl35 https://gamerkids.livejournal.com/34485.htmlName's Dani. Twenty-four.
I have a PS2, 360, Wii, GC, DS/GBA, Dreamcast, and SNES
Favorites:

PS1/PS2-
This is hard... it really depends on what genre we're talking about here! Silent Hill is my favorite series (hands down, SH2 is the best.. next to Okami) but I'm also a big fan of the Final Fantasy series. (FFVII-FFVIII are a huge tie. Anything past FFX-2 is garbage) And then there's Resident Evil. Who doesn't love em? Socom II (online) was my crack for like 3 years at one point, lol.. Aaaand... my favorite PS1 game of all time would have to be Intelligent Qube.

360- COD4 and GH3.. that's about it since I'm poor! I'm definitely getting RE5 once it releases..

Wii-
Animal Crossing: City Folk! I just got a Wii for my birthday a few days ago.. it's all I've really sat down and played other than Twilight Princess (played it off and on when I worked at Gamestop a few years back..)

DS-
Animal Crossing: Wild World, any of the Phoenix Wright series, Cooking Mama 1-2, Brain Age 1-2.. and a few more I can't think of at the moment.

GBA- Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I thought it was gonna be a shit game cos it was GBA-only.. but the storyline surprised me. :) I dabbled with the FFI-FFII remakes but I couldn't get into them.

Dreamcast-
RE: Code Veronica (it's the only reason I bought the system haha) and Crazy Taxi. I tried CT on PS2 but it just wasn't the same!

SNES:
Maaan.. I've got 2 shoe boxes full of games.. in the mix there's a lot of Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Super Mario, Batman, Earthworm Jim.. I wanna say Firepower 2000 and maybe some Street Fighter, too.. It's been too long. Mystical Ninja's my fave.

There's tons more games I love.. If you care to know anything else just ask. :)
