Hey, Jaguars and Lady Jags! The second week of school is coming to a close, and it has been a crazy year so far! How about that fire, huh? :D. So let's get some discussion going- how are all of your teachers? I have a couple crazies nad a couple good ones, so I have no reason for complaint. The classes are huge this year- if my sources are correct, there is a Calc class with 41 kids, or at least there was at the beginning of the year. That's pretty wild. What clubs are you thinking of participating in? My beloved Image Club is no more, so there's a void I need to fill in my extracurricular soul this year. Anyway, I hope everyone is loving school so far, especially my fellow seniors. Congratulations guys, we've made it this far! hey im on a new yellow ribbon committee that just started and not the old one that made the display. for those who may not know yelow ribbon is for the awarness and signs of suicide. me and a friend are getting together a group to work on this. what we are going to do is go to differnet classes and talk to them. we are short on people though. i know this short notice but we just found today and have to be ready by tomorrow. if any would like to help please respond or get a hold of me. this is not an excuse to get out of class. you must be serious about this and not trying to get out class. i will be in the cafeateria tomorrow morning on the side where the sandwhiches are at during lunch. if you don't know me ask someone standing or sitting around and they may know me. or ask for tiffany rudy.thank you for your help please let me know asap.joanna jackson

GO GEARMO4!!!!!!!!!!!!!well...GO 931 PERPETUAL CHAOS!!!!!We kicked ass with Chairmans award, and we very well could have gotten spirt, but maybe that will happen in cleveland. but Congrats to Margi and Kirsten and Cassy for Kicking ass with the chairmans award. but this means were going to nationals, in Atlanta, in april! and that also means we get to miss a week or so of school, which is awesome! but Congrats to everyone! and i hope you all see the green and our awesome medals tomorrow!!!!:D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, I should be going to bed soon or studying, but here I am on LJ. But you know what? It's okay, because I'm rather fond of this community. We don't update frequently, we have a small amountof members, and the biggest discussion we've ever had was the 7 comment thread about the strike. And I still like gateway_high. The people here are nice, and I see most of you enough in person or read your personal LJs enough that you don't have to blather on here for me to get a feeling of what's up. And so, I have a horrible poem written late at night for you all. okay i got an ideal from mrs petch, if we show up to school one day and the teachers aren't there, mrs petch said to stay first per be good or what not then the students do a walk out at 8:50. someone call fox 2 or something have media coverage and ta-da, not only do we have student teacher alliance plus media support. the last major strike worked because of media coverage. So let all ur friends know. peace.

Hey guys- tis the season to strike, er, be jolly? Since most of us obviously can't get to Washington D.C. for inaugeration day, we need to find some way to protest that bastard Bush here at home. People in Boston are taking to the streets. Anyone know if anybody is planning a protest in the streets of St. Louis? I need to protest somewhere. We should totally organize a protest. Any ideas?

As of now very little is known about the strike in regards to dates and times, however, it will require student-faculty unity to succeed.As for the safety of the teachers that cross the picket line...their peers and consciences will be their own worst enemies. Also, the safety of the students isnt guaranteed...no one(the cooks, electritions, janitors, other employees) will be crossing the picket line. There will be no food, water, light...ANYTHING at school...The Gateway SGA has decided that we will go on strike along with the teachers and that we are NOT going to cross the picket line. In fact, many of us will be walking the picket line along with the teachers. If you or anyone you know wants to walk the picket line, PLEASE DO! The teachers and students have to stay united. This strike is not only for them, it is for us.UNITY IS POWER! I am so lazy for not posting this earlier, but it had to be posted eventually. On Friday (I think it was), Mr. Jaquess told us a bit about what's going down with the teacher-strike thingy. According to him, if the strike happens, it'll be going down after finals, so anyone who wants to change their semester grade still has a chance to; also, the strike is going to go down indefinitely if things continue the way they are, ie the District peeps not cooperating with the Union peeps.This isn't much to go on, and I'm sure I'm not the only person that's heard some news, so if you have any info to contribute, PLEASE comment! Inquiring minds want to know.

Just a nice, friendly and demanding reminder: we are off school this Thursday and Friday. Thursday is Parent/Teacher Conference Day. Image Club will be selling the X-Mas ornaments early on PTCD, so sign up to sell if you're in Image Club, and if not, um, commence preparations for buying?Nergis says she doesn't think learning to paint the ornaments would be very fun, but I think it might. Any seasoned members her got input on the subject?

So I got called out of Gym class about 15 minutes in (and luckily we hadn't started exercising yet) to go to Ms. Hsu's room and get something. The mystery object was a field trip form for Debate. THis made me happy because A) I could walk really slowly and miss some of Gym class and B) field trips are fun. Well, they're more fun when they're during school hours, but oh well.But I'm not posting to go on about my enjoyable 15-minute reprieve. I'm posting to ask all you Debate Team peeps who were there on Wednesday what's the official dilly-o about this thing. Am I going to need a ride? If so, will I be able to get a ride? What about getting home?Then the questions about the trip itself: are we participating, or watching others debate? Do I need to bring anything besides myself? And no snarky dressing down about not being at, erm, any of the meets this week. I swear, it was almost as if I lost all control of my legs and they just forced me to go home, eat, do homework and play video games. My legs are so self-centered sometimes.On another note, those of you in Ms. Hsu's AM Lit 300 course (A-day) should remember to read the story(s) that will be presented on Monday, and do their worksheets. In Dr. Langer's Chem class (B-day), we're having a test on Tuesday, in case you want to prepare. Ms. Lesmes/Mrs. Urbina's Spanish 5/6 class (A-day) has page 81C to do. So get to work!Have a fun weekend if you're so inclined.
