headinmyoven @ 11:37pm: Err. Hi :) Drama yo.
I am a gay Catholic teenager! (Get this, the Catholic church doesn't hate homosexuals, yay for not burning in hell!)
My mother finds it offensive and awkward, and tries to be casual and be like, "She is so gorgeous isn't she?" It just ends in an awkward silence. Before long, somehow a rumor about me being lesbian got around in school and the parents became concerned.
I go to a tiny private Catholic high school with about 100 kids in it. Most of the people there don't even care at all. The school got all huffy and my close friends defended me, which was nice.
Now a year later, things have smoothed over at school. New girls came to our school this year, found out, and avoid me.
Lame, but life is good. I kind of regret coming out.

darkknight0618 @ 10:57pm: Home from Hurricane Relief in New Oleans. Hey. I just got back from a month in New Oleans cause my National Guard unit was deployed there for Hurricane Katrina relief. While I was there I got close to a few of my fellow soldiers and ended up coming out to a few of them. One was a girl that I already new it would be kewl cause I knew she was gay herself. I also told another fellow guy soldier were there and last night at the party that a club had for us i told one of my Sergeants and another fellow soldier. So far everyone has been really kewl about it. There are a few people that I KNOW I'm never gonna tell like my platoon sergeant who says that he's a "card carrying homophobe". I find that really funny cause I'm one of his favorite soldiers and he's steady telling me all this. I just sit back and laugh.

I just wanted to share that and ask y'all what you think about gays in the military.

ritesofspirit @ 3:09pm: Hmm... first post, and i have some NEWS for you! Well, i had been working at SubWay for around a month... When the woman that hired me, her name is Jackie, pulled me back. the date was April Fourteenth and i remember this because it was the day after my birthday... yes boys, and aries here. She pulled me to the back and said to me... "Your gayness is an insult to the customers, if you do not gay it down we are going to have a problem." And she was really snobby about it! the whole thing is, i do not act femme at work. I act professional, and, yes, the cursed word, straight. *grrs in all directions* Well then this guy named Chase P. Begins to work with me. Things go well, we even smoke out one day, but then he used the F word, faggot, fag, aids boy, gay child, homo, and so many others.
So they just fired me because they KNEW i am getting a lawyer. So if any of you visit GLAAD, or see me on chanell 46 news, or in the papers, you know why. You guys, i am just letting you know, that if you have EVER been discriminated at work before, don't EVER let it happen again.
It is not about the money, it is to make a point. True i will be getting some millions, but i want to let everyone know not to mess with the LGBT scene, we go about our lives the same as everyone else, and i am out to prove that... \
I just thought i would let you all know...\

Proponents and critics flooded a second public hearing Wednesday on a proposal from state School Superintendent Kathy Cox that would require students to gain parental permission before joining school-sponsored clubs.

Members of the Georgia Board of Education again heard impassioned pleas to reject the policy from opponents including state Rep. Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), the only openly gay member of the general assembly.

“I think that this is part of a political agenda that is targeting specifically gay youth,” Drenner said.

Critics of the proposed rule change contend that it is an assault on gay-straight student alliances, intended to curb participation in those clubs by forcing closeted students to receive their parents’ permission before joining.

darkknight0618 @ 2:39pm: Pride in San Diego in July For the past few years I've went to gay pride in San Diego. When I moved to GA I thought that the chances of going back was gone but then I thought about it, it would make it all the more fun to go from here. I dont know why that is but it is. N-E-Wayz. I also figured that it would be kewl to get some people to go with as well. We would get a hotel and stuff and just party all weekend. I looked into it and it would be cheeper to get airline tickets and hotel rooms if there we a group of us. The event isn't until July so it's best to start the planing now. To make a long story short, is anyone intersted? It would be a lot of fun. If interested then comment and/or email me and I'll let you know all the details.

darkknight0618 @ 6:11am: What is your opinon? I went to church this past sunday with my friend Carrie and something was said by the pastor that bothered me. He was talking about family values and how you need God in the homes. Then he said, "the big thing that's against God and family is homosexuallity." I got really up set about that. He basically went one to say how a gay couple can't raise children to have moral values. Needless to say that I got a pissed. Then I had a funny thought. Little did he know that the veteran he was hugging on and had holding his flag was gay. I talked to Carrie about it cause she clearly saw that I was upset. She was trying to explain the pastor's POV. I thought it was bullshit and i told her. She listened to what I had to say and even supported me on it even though she agreed with the pastor. I just told her that he has his opinions and I have mine.

Quick Run Down Of The Rules....

  1. I don't censor. The only exceptions to that rule are a personal attack on another person, posts in violation of the LJ TOS, and anything advertising for a Commercial Website (not-for-profit and other service groups are MORE than welcome!)
    2)This is a no-holds-barred environment. Any question you are gutsy enough to ask, I know that I personally will be gutsy enough to answer.
    3)Please.... no quiz or meme results (unless you want to do an LJ Cut). It just takes up a LOT of space on the front page.
    4)Post Actively! But only if it's relevant! Use your own LJ to tell the world how your day went. Use GNGA as a networking tool... to ask questions... make acquantinces... recount snipets of wisdom... hell... use it as a personals service.... but use yor head.

I'm studying Paramedic Technology at the moment at Chattahochee Technical College, and after I finish that, I will complete my BA in Spanish (hopefully at State...). I live at home with my Dad, 2 siblings, my Cat Smokie, and my ugly-ass sweet-heart of a dog Sadie.
