A future transfer with a question... [01 Feb 2008|09:37am]
I feel somewhat weird posting this, haha. But I really am curious, and I don't really know any other way to find out. Let's see, I'm a devoted Christian and think highly of Geneva because of what I've heard of the Christian atmosphere. But, I've always had a very hard time fitting in. Even with having my religion in common with people, I feel awkward with new people. Now, I am a big fan of anime, and have been a number of years now. The anime community has brought me to so many great people and friends (many of them surprisingly Christian also) in the Pittsburgh area. So, my question is this: is there any anime community at Geneva? It may seem like a simple thing, but it means a lot to me.Thanks for any help you can offer. :)Love and peace,Aemilius

Help Needed :) [09 Oct 2006|09:53am]
I’m a Journalism Grad student at Point Park and I could use the help of some local Pittsburghers. For my final project, I am doing an article on adults over the age of 25, who sill live at home with their parents, or who have moved back home. I am looking for three different groups of people to interview: 1. Adults 25+ who still live at home for a variety of reasons (finances, health reasons, you’re just a mooch, etc) 2. Anyone between the ages of 16 and 30 who DID move out as soon as they had the chance and never went back. 3. Parents with adult children still living at home. If you fit any of those categories and don’t mind being interviewed for this piece, please email me at m.normile@yahoo.com with your name, address, age, phone # and email address. Thanks!

transferring to Geneva [10 Feb 2006|10:07am]
What do you all like about Geneva? And not like about it?I've been considering transferring there for awhile now, and once I figure out how to get there via bus (can anyone help me out there? I know a bus goes from pgh to beaver county, but does one go even remotely near campus?) I'm gonna go check things out.I'd be commuting, so the fact that I've heard that there's nothing to do doesn't really matter to me. I'm wondering, are the students friendly? What are the classes like? Is there a lot of writing, discussions, etc? Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Need help [31 Jan 2006|06:41pm]
[ mood** | tired ] I need some help with a costume. You see, my husband's company is having one of their parties (they usually have one every other month or so) on February 11th and, as usual, there is a theme. In the past there have been 80s and 70s night. Well, this time you have to come dressed as a superhero. My husband and I have already devised a costume for him- The Crow (as in the movie with Brandon Lee). Yes, I consider the Crow to be a superhero. He has black BDU pants, black army boots, a tight black t-shirt, and all my gothy make-up. We just need to find him a suitable wig, or else leave him with short hair (high and tight) but dye it black. I, on the other hand, have no clue what to be. It needs to be something I can do cheaply, preferably w/o having to buy much of anything. I also don't want to look like a dumba$$. Finally, it cannot be any sort of an "American hero" (as in, no firefighters, police, military, etc.).Help! Suggestions?( A picture of us for referenceCollapse )** **EDIT: I decided what to be. See my next post after this one.**I apologize if people see this numerous times. X-posted to other communities and my personal journal.

New Community...come check us out! [19 Sep 2005|01:15pm]
New Community: This is a discussion community, and haven, for those who possess a love of questions, a thirst for knowledge, and an appreciation for the opinions and viewpoints of others. The subjects we explore here include, but are not limited to, religion, politics, philosophy, world views, and ethics. People of all leanings and views are welcome and encouraged to join and participate. Just take a moment to read through and consider the rules before joining. It's a "members only" sort of thing for many reasons...just a couple are that we don't think all topics of adult conversation are appropriate for younger ears and that some people have expressed that they wouldn't be as "open" in a public forum. For this reason you MUST be 18 or older and have your complete birthday listed in your profile to join. Our next question is currently posted…You can find us at ever_curious or by clicking the picture below Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Overheard in Pittsburgh [12 Sep 2005|11:19am]
I figure Geneva is a good place to overhear people saying interesting/crazy/funny things, so I thought I would let everyone know about Overheard in Pittsburgh. If you overhear anything interesting - on the street, in class, on the bus - pass it along to me with a brief description of the people involved at **overheardinpgh@gmail.com.**---------------------------------In Pittsburgh, this city of college students and work-a-day joes, of arts and beer and unreliable public transportation, it's hard not to overhear little bits of other people's lives. In line at a fast food restaurant, a man yells into his cell phone._He's yelling for you._On the bus, two girls gossiping about a celebrity couple._They're gossiping for you._In class, a professor says something he really oughtn't._He's saying it for you._Welcome to Overheard in Pittsburgh, a collection of impromptu little public performances, reported and displayed for your enjoyment.Overheard in Pittsburgh:We're not eavesdroppers, we're attentive listeners.

[ **mood** | hopeful ] I know this may be a super long shot. But for housing next year two of my friends and I are planning to live together, but that only equals three. I was wondering if any of you know like one person or three people (for six room), who would want to room with us. Thanks a lot.

poli sci website [12 Feb 2005|10:03pm]
If any of you are in poli sci right now (which it appears as if many of you are), here is a helpful website: http://www.geocities.com/poliscihelp .I passed poli sci 2 years ago, but dug it up for my sister (who is enduring the class right now) just recently and thought I would pass it along. It was made by a Geneva student who graduated awhile ago, but has proved very useful, as Dr. Neikirk does the same stuff every semester.Neikirk is very aware of this website so don't even think about trying to copy and paste from it.Anyway, I hope this was useful for you all.

Everybody, please pray for Jen Wynick. I don't imagine that many of you know her, as she is a very quiet young lady, but she is a student at Geneva and has been diagnosed to be at an advanced stage of cancer. All of us who know her are absolutely crushed by this terrible news, so please keep her and her friends and family in prayer as we wait and see what God's plan is with our little EnJen. Attached is an e-mail that was sent to students on campus with her contact information.God's Will be done. Please pray for Jennifer Wynick and her family. Jennifer ishospitalized in Magee Hospital, room 5309, while treating for advancedcancer. Along with your prayers, encouraging cards, calls, and shortvisits are appreciated. Her hospital phone number is 412-641-7819.
