GENNARO GATTUSO//: (original) (raw)

Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that he never really had any intention of leaving AC Milan, and that his final decision to stay was also because he didn’t want to be a “traitor”.

Gattuso had been strongly linked with a summer move away from San Siro, and there had been reports in the media that he had agreed to join Bayern Munich.

However earlier this week the 30-year-old ended all the speculation by committing his future to Milan until 2011.

"It only took me five minutes to discuss my problems, which were not at all financial," Gattuso tolds news agency Dire.

"Carlo Ancelotti and Adriano Galliani listened to me and we are still friends like we were before. I will be here for three more years and I will finish my career at Milan.

"I never really thought about leaving this club because it wouldn't be easy after nine years. When we went into the office, Galliani closed the door and told me that if I wanted to leave I would have to jump out the window.

"It took no time to clarify our positions and I felt the full affection of the club.

"When you wear this shirt you always want to win and at times you are left a little disappointed. The fans' love is also important and I didn't want to make the mistake that Andriy Shevchenko did and leave as a traitor."

Gattuso has been at Milan since 1999, when he joined from Salernitana, and he has since gone on to win every major club honour on offer with the Diavoli.

Adriano Galliani was obviously delighted with Gennaro Gattuso’s decision to stay on with the Rossoneri after the midfielder came close to walking out on the club.

The Azzurri midfielder was linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich. However, Galliani convinced ‘Ringhio’ to stay and the chief is delighted. The player has extended his current contract, which will now run until 2011.

“The reason behind all this is because Gattuso loves this club too much and it was nothing to do with money,” said Galliani following his meeting with the player on Monday evening.

“Gattuso is a sentimental guy and this decision was made on sentiment.

“I spoke to Berlusconi on Sunday and he told me to make sure Gattuso stayed.

“I could never have imagined what it would be like without Gattuso. We are all delighted with the outcome.”

Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League and there were fears that this would have led several players to leave the club, but following Gattuso’s decision to stay, it hardly seems the case.

Hi guys!

I'm currently working on some graphics related to our awesome guy and I'm looking for some certain pictures - which is where I was hoping some of you guys could help me out :)

I'm looking for any pictures (all?) of Gennaro from the photoshoot that's in the header of this community. The picture where he looks into the camera on the left. Does anyone have that picture? and maybe other pictures from the same shoot? Please do share :D

I've looked through all posts in this community, but I couldn't find it :(
