Genrou.com Updates Log (original) (raw)

Added two Fushigi Yuugi links to SHIKON!, both to Amy Marie's Chichiri and Mitsukake sites. They were actually up there before but I think I had taken them down when I did maintenance one day and found that the sites no longer worked. o_O I imagine it was some kind of server problem. Either way, it's awesome to know that they're still up and available. ♥

I also added a link to the approved fanlisting for Tasuki and to a really awesome Fushigi Yuugi image gallery. :3

I decided that it was about time to unify the tag system I use here. :3 I made it a lot easier for anyone (myself included) to find updates for all of my sites. I went through the entire archive that's currently here and set the tags so that they'd show collective or shrine updates, the relevant series and then the character name. It's a much easier system to deal with and it also makes it a lot easier to view all collective updates or all shrine updates. :3

I got rid of using the site names because it's just easier to use the character name instead. Easier to remember, shorter to type.

Also, the sidebar is now a lot cleaner to look at. :3

Added a brand new link button to the GENROU.COM linkage section. I plan on redesigning all of the buttons there; this is just the first of many. :3 Feel free to use it to link back to the site with!

Work for MYSTERIOUS WAYS is currently put on hold. When I was working on it a few months ago, life got in the way of things and I had to stop working on the site. I basically moved back to Toronto and spent most of my time catching up with friends, fixing up my brand new apartment and getting used to working full-time again. Sorry, Xelloss fans! The updates will resume sometime in the near future, I promise!

For all you Inuyasha fans, on the other hand... Expect some huge, huge updates to VOID OF RESTRAINT in the very, very near future! I've got a brand new layout already designed and coded and I'm currently working on setting up the content. I have a lot of big plans for the site and I've been going full-blown for the last week or two on it. It's a lot easier to write content when the series is finished. XD

Anyway, I'm estimating that the new Miroku site will be up in about one to two weeks. I'm not planning on having all of the content re-done for when the design goes live. I figure it'd be nicer to have more than one update. ;3

Cleaned up the linkage section at MYSTERIOUS WAYS, since all of the links were broken. Only one of the four sites there is up and running, the others are all dead. T_T How sad... I wonder if there'll ever be more Xelloss fansites in the future?

I replaced the links with all of the Xelloss-related ones that I could find, plus some to my other Slayers shrines and other general information sites. Maybe I'll be lucky and someone else will make a fansite for or related to him. ;3

I noticed that several media sections had links that were broken, as they hadn't been changed to reflect the new DRAMATA.ORG address change. So I went through the gallery, sounds and wallpaper sections to correct this and those sections are now working properly again.

As some may already know, I'm working on updating MYSTERIOUS WAYS. I'll be doing a new layout for the site, one that reads a lot nicer than the current one. I like the concept of a horizontal-scrolling layout but I feel that it isn't the best choice for reading large selections of content. The new layout will be a vertical-scrolling one.

Also, I'm working on re-writing the content so that it's more in-depth, clearer to understand and more accurate to the original novels. My goal for all of my sites is to ensure that the content is all from the original source materials, and to supplement that content with information from the anime, manga, etc when need be. Since MYSTERIOUS WAYS is supposed to be a site that clears up misconceptions about Xelloss and mazoku, I feel that this is extra important. I'm currently at least half-way through re-writing the informative section.

I may take a break from writing and design the new layout, so that I may implement it and add the new content as I go. This way, people have to wait less time for updates. ;3 We'll see!

Updated the links list at SHIKON!, as every single one was broken. ;_; That makes me so sad, there were about eight links to sites that had been around for quite a while and not one of them worked! I removed them all and replaced them with links to newer sites, most of which are Genbu Kaiden related but oh well. Two of them were at least about the original series. ♥

I noticed there was a problem with the layout.. one of the images was stretched out and the content wasn't loading properly within the layout so I fixed that.

There's also a new link to this updates journal on the main page and in the section for site-related content.

The linkage section of GENROU has now been completely updated! The majority of the links there were all broken... it really makes me sad to see how many excellent web sites have disappeared. I've added several new links to excellent site collectives, and more to shrines for characters from my favourite series.

I've also removed some affiliates, as the links were completely broken and have been for some time now.

I'm probably going to continue to look for excellent fansites to link to here, as I'm sure that they exist somewhere! It's a lot of work, but it's worth it. <3

Due to several years worth of neglect, the joined fanlistings page on GENROU was nearly all dead links. Okay, well, maybe just half. I spent the last hour or so going through them all, updating links and getting rid of any that were just broken. Also took the opportunity to get rid of any fanlistings that I'm not really a fan of anymore.

I'm currently working on re-writing the content for my Xelloss fansite, MYSTERIOUS WAYS. A lot of it has information from the novels and from the anime all mixed up together, and I don't like that. I'm noticing a lot of this on quite a few of my sites so I'd like to take the time to properly update them all. The Xelloss one is likely the worst and is also the easiest for me to clean up. Will I update the layout? Very likely. While I like the current layout quite a bit, the quality of the graphics is a bit lacking and the code is all out of date. We'll see what I can conjure up.

Now that the story for Fruits Basket has finished (quite some time ago, I might add), I feel as if I can finally go back to my Sohma Kyo site, BAROQUE ORANGE and update it. When I originally created the site, Fruits Basket was nowhere near finished. The information is so incredibly out of date because I found it was too much of a bother to try and update everything as each chapter was released. Now that it's finished, I can look back at the whole story, read it from start to finish, and create complete content.

The same applies to my Kikyou and Miroku fansites, REPOSE ETERNAL and VOID OF RESTRAINT, now that Inuyasha has completed its run. In the case of Kikyou, much of the content actually does exist but because the site came out at such a time that I was finding I had to change it on a weekly basis, I was never quite satisfied enough with it to put it on the site. The Kikyou site will likely not receive a new layout as I'm currently rather happy with it. The Miroku one definitely will get a facelift.

As you can see, I've been neglecting my fan-related web sites for many years now. I moved to Toronto in 2006 and began working full-time as an illustrator/graphic artist/animator. Needless to say, spending all day working on creative projects tends to eat up all of a person's creative energies. I lost the energy and motivation to continue working on my fansites.

I will say, however, that I have never lost interest in working on my sites. To this day, I want to continue to provide fans with great resources. I still intend to go back and update the information and layouts for all of my fansites, it's just a matter of time. Of course, updating my sites would be a lot easier if I didn't feel like I had to re-write and re-design each site in its entirety. ^^;

In any case, I hope to go back and refresh everything. I can't promise when, but I can promise that it'll happen some time. :) In any case, thanks to everyone who has continued to visit the sites over the years.
