[ **mood** | pleased ] I'm rockin' right now. What I would like to know is how has anyone worked out their final goal weight? My WW leader when I joined put it a good half a stone higher than what I wanted. I'm now approaching the weight she wrote down but I still want to get to the magic 10stn. I'm afraid if I become a gold member (am I the only one who sniggers at that term?!) I won't bother trying any more.Ideas?

[ **mood** | optimistic ] I know I have a tendency to write posts as and when I come across a new diet fad but I promise this is going to be my last one. I joined Weightwatchers 3 weeks ago and yesterday I was given my first 7 sticker showing I've lost half a stone! I'm doing the same prog that declasm did (The No-count one) and I'm getting on OK. The boyfriend is still a bit of a liability - likes the idea of me getting thinner/happier doesn't really accept that this will involve some change in my eating (esp drinking) habits. But other than that he's been quite supportive.So there we go, that is my update. Hoping that this will be it for the different diets thing, which, let's face it, was never going to be healthy.

Thank you anxita for reminding me to update on get foxy!Right so, in the middle of july last year I started on the weightwatchers 'no count' diet. It is quite unlike the old weightwatchers every-food-has-point-value diet which never appealed to me at all. In 'no count' there is a list of foods you can have and a list of foods you can't. The foods you can have are low in refined carbs, sugars and saturated fats so basically it's a diet with lots of vegetables. I started in july at 16st 9lbs - it wasn't the heaviest i'd been but it was still too much and it made me unhappy being that heavy. I was set a reasonable target weight of 14st 7lbs (I'm 6ft 1 and reasonably broad) by the weightwatchers organiser but once I hit that I was keen to go back the weight I was most happy at as a teen. By December I got down to 12st 9lbs, I decided to become a fulltime vegetarian (most of my meals had become pretty veg-heavy) and I have been that weight ever since.It wasn't easy sticking to the diet, in fact I fully changed my lifestyle and way of thinking. I started to think that not having the king-size snickers was actually a treat rather than the other way around as it meant that come the wednesday weigh-in I would lose my 2-3lbs and improve my health and mood in the process. I managed to lose on average 2-3lbs a week over the 6 months - so it was quite sustainable. Before starting the diet, I never used to think about the foods I ate and would eat pretty much anything and everything until I was more than full - Importantly I didn't used to think about where my calories where coming from and thought that was unimportant. Probably the most important thing I learnt from the diet was to reduce the refined carbs and sugar and get my calories from foods which would release their calories slower therefore keeping my blood sugar constant and stopping me from getting hungry all the time. I was in fact very disciplined - I swapped all my calorific snacks for fruit and veg and ate my three sensible no-count-list-based meals a day. At the start of the diet work became pretty tough as my brain wasn't used to the reduced coca-cola and kit-kat intake and I found concentrating difficult without all the sugar - after a while I learnt that eating fruit at strategic times in the day would stop this from happening and forunately my work has a large supply of free fruit available throughout the day.Once I had reached what I considered to be my target weight - the current 12st 9lbs - it actually became quite hard to let myself start having the occassional treat or snack again even and christmas, but now I do have the odd dessert and we do go out for lunches but I don't think i'm ever going to go back to my 'heavier = better' way of thinking about food and this is what I think is going to allow me to sustain this weight.I am much happier now and I feel much more like myself - I feel that when I was carrying around the excess weight I wasn't quite fulfilling my potential, now I am more confident physically and I don't feel like I fill the room i'm in.( obligatory before and after picsCollapse )

Looking for a new fitness program? How about trying the Presidential Fitness Challenge. This challenge comes in three varieties: 1. The Active Lifestyle Program - For those of you who aren't active on a daily basis yet, this is a great way to begin. The rules are basically to get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week, for a total of 6 weeks.2. The Presidential Champions Program - If you're already active and want a new challenge, this program is for you. Your goal is to see how many points you can earn by staying active. Points are based on the amount of energy each activity burns. So the more active you are, the more points you'll get. When you reach 20,000 points, you'll earn a Bronze award. Then you can continue on in the Presidential Champions program for a Silver or Gold award.3. The Advanced Performance Presidential Champions Program - This is basically the same system as the Presidential Champions Program, except that the award goals are higher. For instance, you need to get 40,000 points to earn a Bronze award. [ **mood** | discontent ] hi everyone. very soon i am going to get fit again because being a slob makes me feel yukky. i am still aching just from doing sit-ups. when i get a job (very soon i hope!) i am going to join an adults gymnastic class and start going to it every week. i haven't been able to do evening activities since leaving school (i'm 21 now) because i have always worked shifts and never normally finished work until 8pm. i also hope to get a job with normal hours so i can go to the gym in the evenings and meet with people my age, rather than go to the gym in the mornings with the senior members and have tea and biscuits. i am going to try and find a gym in this area that doesn't require membership for you to use the facilities, because i find doing it this way i end up going 5 x per week for 3 months and then i give up altogether. i'd like it to be a little more balanced. i would like a personal trainer or a gym buddy or something as i'm not very good at motivating myself to work harder. ie. i stop when it hurts - what's the point?i've been eating very healthily recently because we have no money, so i feel good about that and less bloaty than i normally do. i want to tone up though because although i don't feel fat, when i see myself in photos i just look a bit...limp? anyway that's my rambling over. i'll let you know if anything comes of all this, or whether it's just 'all talk no action' - in which case i probably won't post again.

[ **mood** | happy ] Hello I'm newwww *waves* It' got to that time again... Summer is nearly here which means semi-nakedness in public* Eeee! Every year I set myself targets for being vaguely fit and presentable but I really struggle to get motivated, does anyone have any good motivational kicks-up-the-butt? I wanna get foxy babeh! Anyone else get the pre-summer intention of getting foxier? Ok I shall go and draw myself up some sort of excercise/diet plan now, something quick in time for my holiday next month :) *This is a good thing, I am all for people being naked and it should be encouraged. I looked back at some past entries and from the pictures I have seen you are all beyooootiful :)

An update so far:I noticed that I was only just aching the next day, so after two weeks (not wanting to up things too quickly) I have increased to doing one whole lot of each exercise, then waiting ten minutes or so, and doing a second complete batch, with slightly fewer reps on each. This seems to work, I feel it more the next day.I have definitely improved in all the areas I'd expect, though not by so much in my arms - while I'm lifting as heavy weights as I can for the number of reps, it doesn't ache the next day and progress is slow. Perhaps a lower weight for more reps? This is in effect what I am doing for the other exercises.I've been keeping a spreadsheet of what I've been doing. Possibly slightly geeky ;) It's very useful though - for keeping track of progress, but also it motivates me to keep going. It's not that I'm facing such a difficult task, I just lose track or forget. This way I know how many days it's been. I haven't stuck to every other day very well, but I'm better than every four, and one week I was so coursework busy I did nothing, so, pretty good.Spreadsheet geekery informs me that I've achieved a metric ton of bicep curls, with each arm :)(My weight, however, remains steady. Will I ever top 10 stone? I will keep you informed.)

How is the boyfriend who was so against me going on a diet is now all "wow, you've lost loads of weight, you're looking really hot" ?And at the same time is practically force-feeding me foods I'm not eating, like cheesecake. Or worse, making really obvious comments about it when I take a little of something I'm offered out of politeness, with the intention of only having a bite and leaving the rest. Gah!

[ **mood** | proud girlfriend ] ...who now weighs in at 13 stone 121bs. this is the lightest he has weighed in 8 YEARS, since he was 15. he only has another 3lbs to go to have lost 3 stone from the weightwatchers 'diet'. i think he's done absolutely amazing and he's definitely put all the regular ladies at WW to shame. you rock darling!yesterday he had a form given to him to fill out entitled 'my success story', so who knows, maybe you'll see him on the cover of a magazine one day :p3 cheers for declasm: hip hip hoorayhip hip hoorayhip hip (it's nice being able to see them) HOORAYand a big mwah to you, from sarah & zephyr who love you x a billion

All that worry was for nothing - It turned out that I haven't put weight on over my holiday and in fact over the last two weeks i've lost another 2.5lbs! Also when I went to weightwatchers today I didn't have to pay and I could go to the front of the queue to get weighed because since passing my target weight I'm now a gold member! rawk! So that gave me a little wednesday boost when I really needed it. I now weigh 14st 3lbs which is well close to 13st something ooh yeah.

[ **mood** | happy ] Too skinny for "fat" trousers, but not quite skinny enough to look good in my old trousers.I have to go on ward visits and the smart trousers I'd usually wear are in danger of showing everyone not just my pants but my bum as well!Which is more acceptable - braces or safety-pinning my loose trousers to the waistband of my elasticated pants?Life is so full of questions...

[ **mood** | rejuvenated ] I've done it - i've hit my weightwatcher's target - in fact i went straight past it!Last week I was 14 stone 9lbs - 2 pounds away, yesterday I was weighed as 14 stone 5.5lbs - I passed my target of 14st 7lbs by 1.5lbs. in 11 weeks I have lost 31.5lbs overall. I'm quite excited because I think I could even lose a little more! I am on holiday all next week which in weightwatcher's means I get to take a holiday from the diet too - but I don't know if i'm going to go back to eating like I used to at all, ever! I feel all positive and i'm liking myself more because of it.

weight watching update [31 Aug 2005|09:56pm]
Today was a fantastic wednesday boost (everyone needs a boost on wednesdays) I went to weight watchers worrying that I was starting to plateau (they warned me about that) but no! since last week I have lost 5 pounds on their diet which means for the first time that I can remember I am under 15 stone - 14 stone 10 pounds to be exact in foreign money that's 206lbs when I started off at 223lbs and I've lost more than 10% of my body weight in 9 weeks almost 2 stone! yay!

[ **mood** | happy ] So far diet beats exercise! hehe.Today I am 15st 2lbs. This is the lightest i've been for about six years and it is in fact 1lb lighter than I managed through last years exercise binge. Weightwatchers rocks!

Went to the doctor last week, and he was so impressed I'd put some weight on he did a little dance :) I'm aiming to go from my previous 10 stone to the 12ish all the graphs seem to think I should be at least, so I'm halfway there.Has only taken me a year, so I should be all good for next summer... lol.

[ **mood** | bouncy ] I just lost 5 pounds doing a weekend of leek soup!!!! The idea is that you eat nothing but the leeks and the broth for 2 days and on the evening of the last day you can have a small (~150g) piece of meat or fish with 2 steamed veg with butter or oil, and a piece of fruit. To be fair, I think some of the weight loss was due to really not wanting to eat any more leeks by Sunday lunch and plumping for drinking lots of water instead! Ingredients (1 person for 2 days) 1kg Leeks and tap water Method Clean leeks and rinse well to get rid of sand and soil. Cut ends off green parts, leaving all the white parts plus a suggestion of green Cut the leeks into 2cm slices, put them in large pot and cover with water. Bring to the boil and simmer with no lid for 20-30 mins. Pour off liquid and reserve Place leeks in a bowl Juice is to be drunk (reheated or room temp) every 2-3 hours, a cup at a time For meals, or whenever hungry, have some of the leeks themselves, 100-125g at a time. Drizzle with a few drops of extra-virgin olive oil and lemon juice. Season sparingly with salt and pepper. Add chopped parsley if you like. Obv not something to do every day, but for a kick-start or a last minute thing before a big event it's pretty good. There's also a vegetable one, if you don't like leeks, but you'll have to look that up for yourself in "French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano. The leeks do taste nice initially, but I'm not one for eating the same thing repeatedly. I'm planning on doing it before and after holidays from now on 'cos 5lbs is about how much I go up on hols, usually. I know it's all water but it made me feel so much better about getting foxy for summer. Go slimness!
