Understanding a whole person is said to be the most difficult challenge of social, humanistic, me... more Understanding a whole person is said to be the most difficult challenge of social, humanistic, medical and other sciences. It especially concerns the issue of understanding unique individuals, those perceived as different, non–standard (in any meaning of this word), uncommunicative or strange way by the majority of people. To understand these individuals, one can describe them, define them or penetrate their problems which could be effective only via inclusion. In case of individuals with ASD, due to remarkable progress in recent research, which evolved from exclusion, determining patterns and labelling towards an approach of finding common features and approaching individuals with ASD in a holistic way. A number of notable people with ASD are known in history. They fought for their rights and dignity. These people highlighted how important social development is and proved the working power of inclusion. Nowadays, we should listen to this group of citizens and research subjects so c...

The research was conducted on a grou p of 43 families in Poland. Our findings can be generalized. Contemporarily, disability is perceived as one of t he important factors of exclusion. Reduction of developmental or existential needs permanently excl udes not only today, but it denies any chance for t omorrow.

An important element of social functioning is the ability to adapt to and use of cultural goods. ... more An important element of social functioning is the ability to adapt to and use of cultural goods. At the present stage of social development the ability to use information technology, the Internet, which has become a part of social engagement and social exclusion, is an indispensable element. The study shows the possibilities and limitations of social exclusion in selected, but according to the authors the most excluded, social groups - persons in need of economic support and intellectually disabled people. Availability or rather unavailability, capabilities and public interest may serve as an example of social exclusion in the field of technology.

The article attempts to analyse the issue of students with autism spectrum disorders who attend t... more The article attempts to analyse the issue of students with autism spectrum disorders who attend two types of educational institutions-integrated classes in mainstream state school and special education institutions with separate classes for students with autism. Popularity and availability more often than effectiveness affect the choice of an educational institution. Parents' decisions may also stem from lack of awareness of the scope of educational activities conducted in each institution. One of the measures of educational success is the evaluation of the quality of life in certain spheres of students' lives.
