The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) is the ONLY African Trade Union Organisation that represents all the trade union tendencies in Africa. It has 73 affiliates in all the 54 African countries, with a total membership of about 25 million. Vision: To be an independent, democratic, authentic and unified Pan-African Regional Trade Union Organization that represents the voice of workers in all African countries for the realization of social and economic justice for all. Mission: To strengthen the capacity of trade unions in Africa and coordinate affiliates` activities to achieve unity and solidarity among African workers at the national, sub-regional and continental levels for the defense , protection and promotion of the rights and interests of workers and African citizens at large.

- 📢 Mark Your Calendars! The Organisation of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) is set to host its 45th General Council Meeting in Accra, Ghana, from 20th to 22nd November 2024 under the theme: "Strengthening the Role of Trade Unions for Advancing Social Justice for Everyone." 🌍 This event will gather trade union leaders from across Africa, representatives from the African Union (AU), International Labour Organization (ILO), and other global trade union organisations. 🎙️ We’re honored to have Raila Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya and candidate for the African Union Commission chairmanship, as our keynote speaker to spark insightful discussions! 💡 A two-day workshop in collaboration with the ILO will also equip trade unions with tools to champion workers' rights and promote social justice. - With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Comrade Mzee Michael Besha, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation of African Trade Union Unity on October 11, 2024. His 20 years of dedicated service in education and research have profoundly impacted the African trade union movement. Brother Besha was a steadfast advocate for workers' rights and played a vital role in training generations of trade unionists, many of whom have gone on to become influential leaders. His commitment, sacrifices, and remarkable human qualities will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the comrades of the Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (TUCTA) and to all family members during this difficult time.
