Friending Policy

Welcome. If my humble journal pleases you, by all means stick around. And thank you for reading.

However...

People write (and read) journals for very different reasons. I appreciate LJ for two things: information and entertainment. For me, that means posts that teach me something new are great. Posts that make me laugh are great. Debates are great. Well-written fiction is great.

Journals that I do not particularly like, and I think I am atypical in this regard, are those of a very personal or egocentric nature. I am a very private person and most of my journal entries do not reveal much about me. You may be able to glean some information about me from some of them, but that is not generally my intent.

By the same token, if your journal entries consist of you describing the minute details of your day, five times per day, or how upset you are about something that happened to you, then you are like 99% of LJ. But chances are I am not paying attention to most of those entries. I apologize if this sounds harsh. Different strokes for different folks.

Consequently, I tend to 'friend' people whose journals are similar to mine (or people who I know in real life). You should infer no insult if I do not reciprocate by 'friending' you back.

I also want to keep my friends list manageable... what's the use of having 100 friends if you can't keep track of them all?
