Delicious pineapple is coated in brown sugar! (original) (raw)

This delicious pineapple is coated in brown sugar and then grilled to perfection! It only requires two ingredients and five minutes. You can eat it for a side with the rest of your meal or as dessert it’s that delicious!

I love pineapple. I’ll take it in any form that I can get it. But my favorite way is definitely this delicious grilled pineapple! I love that it’s only two ingredients AND that it’s ready in 15 minutes — including the marinating time. This simple and quick recipe is oh so tasty and is truly the best addition to all of your summer cook-outs.
You can either serve this easy grilled pineapple as a side dish to your favorite grilled main dish or even serve it as a dessert. I personally think the dessert is an awesome idea because it’s a bit lighter but it’s so sweet you will still be satisfied. The brown sugar glaze becomes caramelized while the pineapple grills and it’s sinfully delicious. And if you love these pineapples, then try my grilled peaches too!
- This easy recipe is so versatile! Serve it on anything from sandwiches to ice cream — it’s tasty with so many different things.
- You only need two basic ingredients with grilling pineapple. Just toss pineapple with brown sugar and you’re set to go.
- Anyone can make this recipe! It doesn’t get much easier than sugar coated fruit on a grill.

You only need two very simple ingredients to make the most delicious grilled pineapple ever. Here is what you need:
- Pineapple – For best results, make sure you get a super ripe pineapple that is sweet instead of sour. You’ll also need a really sharp knife in order to properly, and easily, cut this fresh tropical fruit.
- Brown sugar – Add a warm flavor and the perfect amount of sweetness to this recipe with some brown sugar. It will caramelize each piece of pineapple for the best, most delicious, sweet treat!
Before starting this recipe, make sure you know how to cut a pineapple so that you can easily slice it up:
- The first thing to do is to trim off the ends of the pineapple.
- Stand the pineapple up and then hold the knife parallel to the fruit and shave off the outer skin.
- Slice the pineapple in half lengthwise. Then slice out the middle core.
- You can either slice it into half circles like we did or you can also cut into wedges, which ever you prefer.
Helpful Tools
- The first step is to simply clean and grease your grill grates and then preheat grill to 350-400 degrees.
- Cut the rind off of the pineapple. You’ll then want to cut it into slices or wedges. I personally use this pineapple cutter and it works great. Then I just slice the pineapple about 1/2” thick.
- After that, place the fruit in a gallon Ziploc bag, container, or small bowl and sprinkle it with the brown sugar. Toss to coat and let is rest 10 minutes.
- Place the coated pineapple grill and grill each side 2-3 minutes, rotate 45 degrees and grill an additional 2-3 minutes. Then flip over and repeat.
- You can also make this in a grill pan on the stove if you’d like to make it indoors.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!

- Some people like to add cinnamon along with the brown sugar. If you’d like to do that, just add about 1 tsp cinnamon when you sprinkle the brown sugar on the pineapple.
- You can use honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar if you want a more natural sweetener.
- For a bit of boozy fun, soak your pineapple slices in Malibu Rum and then grill. Throw them on a big bowl of ice cream for sweet treat.
- Do you like spicy sweet treats? This may sound crazy, but try some chili powder or tajin on it after you are done grilling.
Transfer grilled pineapple to an airtight container and allow to cool completely.
FRIDGE: Store in the fridge for up to 4 days. Eat cold or reheat before eating.
FREEZER: You can also freeze leftovers. Just store it in an airtight container with parchment paper between the layers. Then freeze for a few months. Allow to thaw before consuming.
I personally think that fresh pineapple is way better on the grill than canned. However, if it’s not pineapple season and you’re struggling to find ripe pineapple then you can absolutely use canned or even frozen, once thawed.
While grilled pineapple is delicious on it’s own we enjoy it a lot of our favorite recipes. Two of our most popular recipes are pineapple pork chops and pineapple chicken.
Craving a burger? You’ve gotta try this pineapple teriyaki chicken burger! You could also dice it and add it to your favorite salsa.
It makes a great burger topping when you chop it up with jalapeno, strawberries and red onions. Teriyaki chicken skewers would be so good with grilled pineapple too
This juicy pineapple would also be so tasty with Asian pork loin and grilled cheesy garlic pull apart bread, or some grilled baked potatoes. Not to mention, it adds the perfect finishing touch to campfire apple crisp in foil packets.
Pro Tips for the Best Grilled Peaches
- Make sure that you slice the pineapple into evenly sized slices. This will ensure they all cook to the same juicy tenderness.
- I do not recommend grilling pineapple that is not ripe. The flavor just won’t be good. Either find ripe pineapple or grab some canned.
- For best flavor, serve immediately while the pineapple is still warm.

Fresh pineapple just got so much more tasty! You’re going to love this delicious recipe.
