Is it possible to use an app on a virtual display while having the phone screen turned off? (original) (raw)

Hello,

The new option for a virtual display seems to work great for me. Before that I was using to play some games on my computer while turning off the phone screen to save some battery with "-Sw" tags. With the virtual display I can have the game take the entire space of my screen, which is great.
Unfortunately, if I turn off my phone's screen, the virtual display is also locked, so I'm forced to have my phone screen constantly turned on while I'm using the virtual display.

Am I missing an option or is this an Android limitation?
