Should authors use their real name? · Issue #4052 · python/peps (original) (raw)

The PEP-1 template currently says Author: <list of authors' real names and optionally, email addrs>. Should we drop this real name requirement?

I think it's important that the PEP author can be identified and it is possible to contact them to ask about the PEP. However, I don't feel it's necessary to force PEP authors to disclose their real-world identity.

I don't recall this coming up in the past, but a prospective PEP author asked about it: https://discuss.python.org/t/expanding-readonly-to-normal-classes-protocols/67359/11 .
