There are very limited representations of women in our society. From viewing females as sexual ob... more There are very limited representations of women in our society. From viewing females as sexual objects to elevating them for motherhood and womanhood. These roles are only available for women because of their gender. Female offenders are very vulnerable to these limited roles due to their ‘invisibility’ and perception that real women are not able to commit crimes. It is observed that society rely upon media outlets, which have tools and opportunities to over represent crimes, exaggerate the sense of public alarm and select of what is significant and relevant enough to appear in the media. As a result, society is largely unfamiliar with the realities and circumstances of female offenders.
The current study aimed to explore how newspapers represented female offenders. Media content analysis of four newspapers was employed over a predetermined period of time in order to answer this question. The study found that female offenders were usually represented in terms of their gender. Moreover, the themes that emerged during the analysis were widely consisted with the miscellaneous aspects of femininity as it was socially constructed and understood.

Family meaning, understanding the term 'family' and its importance to life had survived some remarkable changes . In order to understand the complexity of family transformation from 'old fashioned' to 'post modern family' we have to understand family in history and present. There are a lot of sociological theories that emerged trying to explain family and family change. This essay will discuss how theories of modernity -Functionalism, Marxism, Feminism and post modernity can explain family and the reasons for family change.
